This is the ultimate "I'm NOT a victim" song and I _love_ it. "I'm the only one who pulls my strings."
I know there are genuine victims out there,
but far too many people like to _play_ the victim and I hate it.
I will bend over backwards to avoid doing it, because I'm no hypocrite; at least I try not to be.
What a strange interpretation of this song. It's literally the devil gaslighting someone they've led into damnation, and gloating about it to their face.
@@deadmeme8011 I find this song very empowering. If you're right then I see why. But people don't need anyone to lead them into damnation; they'll do it themselves. We are all the architects of our own despair, like the song says. Most of my problems are certainly MY fault; not the fault of some made up bullshit boogy man for adults.
@@deadmeme8011 I think *your* interpretation is rather odd, personally. The song reminds me of how The Devil in tarot is represented. Two people who are chained by a devil, led by materialism and temptation, but the chains are loose, they can escape at any time, they choose to be in the damned state they found themselves in, giving into their dark desires. The reversed Devil represents breaking from this cycle and a healthy exploration of your dark thoughts. The two lovers in The Devil are in a hell of their own making, which is what this song represents. 'No one's hands are tied'. The lovers chains are unshackled, they can leave at any time.
It's weird to interpret it as 'the devil gaslighting someone' when it has very obvious allusions to the tarot,

Maybe it's just me, but I think at 2:46 a sudden stop with just a guitar slide followed by the chorus kick in would've had so much impact. Regardless this song is just awesome

It pisses me off to think that i once believed that Satan actually controlled us and made us sin, yet we all forget that God didn't give him control and we all have free wills. But Blue Stahli, you are amazing man, i have so many of your songs on my phone
It's all a bunch of mythical nonsense anyhow even most modern bishops will agree. However I am pretty certain the devil is only meant to influence your actions and tempt your faith not directly control you. All this ignores a serious contradiction however and that is god is the one who controls us. An omniscient being can predict time infinitely and the bible makes that pretty clear. So according to all of this free will doesn't even exist. Which is pretty stupid if you think about it.
All Satan wanted was a little democracy, sounds like the good guy to me.

whats the meaning of this song?
I think the context here is that it is not the blame of Satan/Devil/demons/people around you etc. who make you do bad decisions, that you sin and do evil things only by your own will, that YOU are the only one responsible for your own mistakes and decisions, it's only your fault in your bad decision and nobody else's.
Or at least that is how I interpreter this song.
