Not sure about the comment that winding the crossover down to lowest position doesn't get you anymore bass, on a few subs i own that's not the case cause when you raise the crossover point it would allow the sub to accept higher frequencies which decreases headroom , not sure if this peavey works the same as the subs i have.
Internal power amplifiers (@120 VAC line): Total of 660 watts peak dynamic power Woofer - 410 watts peak dynamic power When the manufacturer claims "peak" instead of RMS, it means they are hiding the fact they're not very powerful. 660 peak is not quite 470 RMS, but who knows how they came up with 660? For sound reinforcement, it's not much. It has some nice features but Peavey almost never fails to disappoint. Their Classic tube amps are great. Not much else. Enjoyed the review though. Bob, take care of yourself. They don't make 'em like you any more.
I called peavey and asked them what the RMS wattage was on the 18 inch subwoofer and they said 200 Watts. is that acceptable? four big gigs if I had two 18 inch subwoofers?
I have no doubt that these sound great. Ive scoured the net, and i cant find ONE single review that doesnt say these are phenomenal live speakers. However, if you know about ribbon microphones, the ribbon element is super fragile, and they are not at all reccomended for something like bass or kick drums. It can rip the ribbon element. Shure bought the Roswellite ribbon technology from a very great company they aquired, Crowley and Tripp. Its an updated ribbon technology that makes for a very rugged and hi fi ribbon mic, that can indeed take the abuse from the sound of a kick drum or bass. Does anyone know whats up with peaveys ribbon technology? I dont doubt that it sounds awesome, but what about its durability over time?
Good review, but why do they have a 1000wt. Sticker on the front if the peak is 660 and the rms (hard to find these days) is not listed even though it is way less?
about to get a pair. I have the other peavey pv115d nice but a bit heavy for me so I am switching over to the dark matter
Great Review covered all the details 👍

Hi, Nice video. What about new edition PEAVEY AQ12 ?? sound better and powerful? regards
Would this speaker work to replace my guitar amp for live gigs? I would run my multi fx processor through it for my effects.
art gillespie what did you find out?
