As a scale model boat builder for over 20 years and having great knowledge of all the R/C model parts, I love how you integrate the R/C servos and pushrod system into your track layout. I have been watching this layout progress over time and love what you have done.. I used to run model trains when I was much younger and now am getting the itch once again. You have a great looking layout and I look forward to seeing how this track progresses.

You sir, are amazing! I've watched from the start of your series, repeatedly. Many great ideas out to use. The precision and order with which you construct your layout even have my wife entranced. Speaking of which, my wife and I have a running bet that you're some kind of engineer, architect, draftsman, etc. You may have answered already in another post.

For me as a swiss guy it is so interesting to see the difference between european and american scale-railroading. Whilst you have big boxes for one single loco and single decoders for pretty much everything. On the other side of the atlantic you either have a get n' go layout, you buy all the different components for one system from one company or you have to do it yourself. Of course also a nice video
    Keep up the great work

Reminds me of the old track switches in the UK. Metal rods would run from signal boxes along track to points (and wires for signals)
I wonder if anyone has replicated above-surface rods for points.

Way back around the 1960's, I used wires and bell cranks to control my turnouts. They were easy to construct, and they worked well. My new layout uses Marklin M-track controlled by solenoids. I could use bell cranks and wires on manual turnouts.

Excellent work. Now if someone can figure out how to add one of those "Shaker" speakers to the system so that when the train goes by, you can FEEL the vibration as well as hear the sound effects.
At Disney's Epcot, in one of the shows, they transmit a certain frequency that vibrates your chest bones in such a way that the effect is to induce tears in your eyes. Cool stuff.

The bridge was built by a friend of mine. He makes laser cut kits for a living so he's got some good modeling skills. He basically hand made an arch in wood, made a mold, cast it in plaster, carved the stone work into it, made another mold, and then proceeded to cast the arches. The stone work is done in a way so that the arches blend together along the mortar lines.

Problem with point mechanisms not lining up with the viaduct supports ???!!! Then scratch built the points to the necessary size. I scratch build all the visible points on my exhibition layouts, and I have done for near 40 years. A 6ft to 7ft radius point costs approx US $5 each, and takes me around 2-3 hours to construct. Its simply soldering code 83 flatbottom rail to copper clad sleeper strip. All parts available from the track specialists, Marcway SMP in Sheffield UK.

Not really an approach I want to do but thanks for the suggestion. I'm happy with the way it turned out in the video and enjoyed the journey.
