    Nice video. It reminds me of a lesson I finally learned one day. Never underestimate what you might find in small creeks. I used to think they only contained small trout but I have been surprised with the size of fish that have surprised me on small water. Nice job landing that steelhead. I thought you would lose it after it wrapped around that log.

    • @speezuss
      @speezuss 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly ! I was just swimming in a creek that’s known to have maybe some rainbow and bulls way further down and a waterfall on the other side and a huge red sockeye came flying down in the stream then rested right near us by a rock ! It was beautiful as I’ve never seen a fish so red with sharp teeth it was a sight to see! I only ever fish rainbows lake trout char burbot and mountain whitefish so that was a cool sight!

    I love fishing those small creeks in Michigan. So much fun, and you don’t have to fight for a spot. I like this type of video, even if the biggest fish you caught would have been a 9-inch brown. Crazy good luck finding, hooking, and landing that steelhead!
    What line do you like for the small creeks like this? I would normally use 4 lb. mono for trout on ultralight equipment, but I’m sure I would have lost that steelhead on 4 lb.

    • @FishFray
      @FishFray  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was running 12 lb fluoro for leader. I saw a lot of big browns in the lower part of the creek, and they ware all close to logjams, so I rig up on the heavy side.

    • @WisdomWealthMotivation
      @WisdomWealthMotivation 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No if you had good knots and stuff you'd be able to hold on, just because the fish is bigger than the line breaking strain doesn't mean it can't handle it, the fish looks about 5 to 6 pounds.

      Those steel head are stocked fish, the majority of public fishing waters are put and take fisheries. Even if that fish did live and breed its not native, MI native trout is brook trout. That fish supplied this man with good healthy food and Im sure he shared it with other humans.
