Man, I really thought I wasn't gonna have to pay the Harley tax on this one. It's unreal to me that we have to pay to activate a module we install ourselves. Same with cruise control (installed it on my wife's 2018 Fat Bob).

That's a lot of work to install, to include the cost...I simply bought my long distance motorcycle helmet that has all those amenities. I can listen to music, take phone calls (conversations), hear my GPS, and talk to my rider (wife).
Took me 30 seconds to synch (ALL) to my helmet. At 85 mph, I hear everything perfect!! But if you choose his system then 👊Respect👊...
As always another great video. If you're taking requests for video how about one about swapping out the the stock handlebar reservoirs on the late model bikes with the chrome version of them?

Hey Brad, I assume you can possibly drop the update cord somewhere maybe in the two front pockets?? I have ZERO room to route via the spine to under the seat with audio and other configurations I have... AWESOME VIDEO! THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Ya. I see alot of people leave the "update" cord up in the fairing. I run it back under the side cover because that's what the instructions say but I'm put it wherever the customer wants.
I wish I had you for my mechanic. Unfortunately this is like brain surgery for most mechanics now days.

U pair your phone to the radio and the Sena to the radio. If you pair the phone to the sena it messes everything up.

Mr Brad My 2021 road glide limited I have whim harley sena 20 s evo all working fine but…i now have paired non harley bt headset to whim all works but no stereo audio. Is there a hack to get stereo audio out of whim w/o harley branded sena? Really hope so. New sub today.
Hi Brad, great video. Just had the WHIM installed on a 2018 Road Glide Ultra and using HD branded SENA 20S EVO headsets. It all seems to work fine with the exception that if I disconnect my tour pak, the boom box will not retain the passenger headset volume settings. Do you know if this is something that can be changed in the flash process. Obviously the default for the bike is to have the tour pak connected.
Sorry I don't have experience with that situation.
I have everything installed to include the adding controls for driver for PTT intercom. I am curious about several things including, why cant I have either wired or wireless option, I use a sena s20 but take long trips and on occasion the headset does lose power so I lose my Carplay.... other than the obvious charge it, is there a work around for this? can I also install the CB module to finish up the system?
no work around, only either wired or wireless. yes you can add CB
Found out that you cannot have both wired and wireless options, which sucks. A work around for charging the wireless headset on the go is get a USB adapter for the cigarette power adapter and plug it in. I know, defeats the purpose of being wireless but it should be able to charge the headset on the go.

Yes, once the WHIM is installed the 7 pin will not function correctly.
Great video. It would be great if you would show the removal process for a Rushmore batwing inner fairing? I have an elusive rattle on my CVO Limited that I have been chasing for months. Still no luck. Thanks
I will next time one comes through the shop. In till then, double check that the rattle isn't the gas tank door. I have them rattle super often. When it is the gas tank door I add 2 little foam pads to the bottom of the fuel door where the factor rubber pegs sit up against.
@@HarleyDavidsonWizard Thank you. I saw the previous video where you showed placing the pads on the gas lid door. Yesterday, I installed the felt pads, took a ride, but unfortunately, that wasn't the fix. It occurs at speeds below 40mph, and usually on sharp bumps, like on highway Botts dots, pavement edges, driveway edges. I have an aftermarket Freedom windshield which is taller than the stock flared CVO shield, so I think that is amplifying the rattle. Sorry for the long reply.
That's a bummer. I figured it was unlikely the gas for was it but figured I'd bring it up. Rattles and squeaks are difficult to narrow down sometimes. I have a special super bumpy road by work that I use only to narrow squeaks and rattles. I've had alot of loose gas tanks that make unusual noises as well. Where people tighten the bolts by hand and they fell tight but once I torque them to 20 footpunds the noises are eliminated.
@@HarleyDavidsonWizard But the windshield 3 screws don't go to 20 ft.lbs, do they? I would think that would strip the brass insert.
@@BobsGT235The windshield screws are just a hand tight deal. I was just saying the fuel tank screws are 20 foot pounds.
You mentioned something about a different adapter separately...what is the Part Number??
i installed the WHIM,, but my PC does not see the new device.. any advise pls .. do i need to have it flash.. its a road glide 2021..
Your radio needs to be flash by Harley Davidson dealership to enable the WHIMs function after you phicisally install the WHIM.
I just bought a leftover 2020 street glide special and I also bought a quin helmet with Bluetooth. If I install the Whim module will my helmet work with it? If I install it myself will I still need to go to harley davidson to chance the whim enable setting
I'm not sure about the compatibility of the helmet but, yes the bike will need a dealership to enable the whim after you install it on the bike.
Does the WHIM allow functionality with Apple car play when utilizing a SENA headset like the 30K in this video? I would spring for the WHIM if I knew the apple CarPlay (phone), Headset and Infotainment system all worked together on my 2020 FLTRXS. Many thanks! Great video

@@Bigbrian12345 yes, however if you do not have HARLEY BRANDED HEADSETS you will only get MONO AUDIO via speakers... =)

Question... Can I install a CB Radio on my 2019 street glide special??
Yes, usually the only hurdle to jump through is the cb antenna mount. I haven't looked in a year or so but we used to use the AM/FM relocation bracket in the right side of the rear fender to hold the cb antenna. Everything else is commonly available.

sorry one more question..I just install the whim on my bike my Cardo freecom 4 headset works BUT!!!!! NOW that I install the passenger headset also a Cardo.
The intercom between headsets STOPS WORKING but if i disable the Rider and Passenger on the whim they start working again... what u think is wrong...
i do not think i need harley stamp headsets do I?
Hi. Quick question. You must flash the radio and enable whim to get the wireless headset menu to show up on the bike right? I installed the whim, did the update. All done but I don’t see that option.
Did you take the bike to the dealership and have the whim function of the radio enabled?

done, went to dealer here in SoCal, cost $55 to do the flash. All work now. I didn't put it all the way back under the seat, I left it under fairing.

Just picked up the WHIM. Easy install but it’s so so so annoying that I have to bring it to the dealer now for them to activate it in the radio with Digital Technician. I’m sure that program is plenty useful for techs but does it really have to be required for simple stuff like this?? I’m a Self proclaimed Harley Fanboy but come on, can there be some things you don’t need it for. I realize it’s because Harley wants their techs working on the bikes, but some of us (me) are more qualified and way more meticulous working on bikes than SOME of their own techs.

I personally feel that the Whim should already be installed on these touring bikes. Who wants to be tethered when there is Bluetooth.
Once the WHIM was installed I can now program my headset. However why doesn't carplay work? I plug in my phone but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong.

Look at 27:27 and you will see Apple CarPlay mic type with a drop down menu that Brad did not adjust. The one in the video said wired. Yours might be set the same.
2020+ and those who update their radio with the current software will not have access to car play. Harley blames Apple and Apple blames Harley. There is a work around via a jumper. You will need to Google it. Android Auto still works, barely.
2021 CVO w/ WHIM and I can not hear anything through the WHIM, tried just about everything to no avail. Any suggestions?
I'm assuming you have the radio audio set to headset. What helmet headset do you have? You've only paired the headset to the radio correct? Not to a cell phone also?
@@HarleyDavidsonWizard Hi Brad, I finally got the system to work, once I disconnected my phone. I was under the impression I can listen to my music through the WHIM. This system is standard with the CVO, and I’m not impressed, poor quality sound and with all the adjustments maxed, you can barely hear the music through the radio. Disconnecting from the system I can communicate clearly between myself and the rider.
The instructions say to remove the main fuse. Is that required?
It's not required but is a smart idea.
Wish they had mechanics like this at every dealership. Most of them don’t even know how to change the oil correctly.
