I already called Parker mountain machine and stealth arms, the pmm staccato p compensator will work with the stealth arms platypus so long as you change the guide rod to make it a one piece guide rod. The reason this is is because the Parker mountain machine comp will cover the spot on the Platypus for the Allen wrench, basically making it so you couldn't take the gun down without taking the compensator off. Change the guide rod and the pmm staccato p compensator will work
Stealth arms has all other double stack 1911 companies running for their lives! Pricing, customization, use of already plentiful and reliable glock mags, accuracy and reliability of all reviews with thousands of rounds zero problems!
@@abc4781 I've had mine for 7 months, my only issue was that the fiber tube popped out of the front sight, so SA sent me a replacement. I've had absolutely no issues with regard to locking back on an empty mag.
Ehh…I don’t think that any 2011 companies are “running for their lives.” it seems to be a great gun, and maybe I will buy one. But I bought a staccato, and I’m very happy with that choice. This will be something that I will add, but it will never replace what most people consider the gold standard for affordable 2011s.
Okay, I think I’m in love!!! I mean, this is setting a new standard! Everything from start to finish, design to the final product has me drooling! *What a great company to support!*
I love the Platypus!! Solved a lot of the problems that STI/Staccato had and at a better price point. Just the fact that Glock mags work and are cheaper should be a major consideration for buying one. I ordered my Platypus this week. Even with the new upgrades coming, I don't have buyer's remorse. I'll just have to buy the new one in a different size then lol.
I feel the same way as you. I ordered my first Platypus in the colors of my logo and I am not crazy about the chain link grip but with my gloves I get a much better grip. I don’t have buyers remorse either but I do plan on getting a commander length model with the prickle grip and bull barrel.
Try placing your strong thumb on the safety instead of using it as a clamp around your support hand. I carried a 1911 for years using this style of grip. When I switched to polymer hand guns I found out just how much riding that safety contributed to recoil control. Yes, the support Hand does most of the work but my thumb has a long memory. On polymer hand guns my thumb would instead ride the slide lock/release lever, (more so on G43 and M&p Shield ). I tested/rented several pistol brands before I found one that had a slide release located further forward, (the M&P 9c 3.5). It was only later that I learned the clamping style that your accustomed to. Use the thumb safety like a brake peddle, it may work for you. Enjoy your day.
Saw that too. He should definitely ride the safety with the strong thumb. His muzzle is doing that post recoil bounce rather than settling flat. I used to do the same thing. The only person who was able to help me was Ron Avery. This guy needs to take a week off from reviewing gear and take a class.
I got my platypus as soon as they came out. Still the best pistol i have. Got mine before the ambi safety was even available. But even with them coming out with new updates id still never regret not waiting longer. Who knows maybe the first gen ones will be collectable and gain some value because this gun is great and i only see it getting better.
it will be the only double stack 1911 i own. Behind enemy lines in WA its pretty amazing that this exists to help those that couldnt backroll a cache of 2011 mags pre-ban. Exciting to see everyone i trust on YT give it glowing reviews!
The most surprising thing about this concept is that no one has done it before. OEM glock mags are probably some of the best mags on the market and they have so much aftermarket support and work with so many different platforms like rifles and PCCs.
One of my favorite guns I own. Had to get a custom holster for it and kinda wish I got the super light trigger. I have intermittent slide stop failure but I've also got less than 1000 rounds through it and it's only on certain mags so I'm not quite willing to call it an issue.
Cerakote Customization is literally endless. OEM Glock magazine reliability and availability. Trigger length of pull, weight and profile options. Red dot footprint milled directly into the slide for better co-witnessing. The list goes on and on. And if you don’t like your build, you can buy that different trigger, or ambidextrous thumb safety you didn’t know you wanted. Even a New Barrel, for when you finally cave and pay the government for your rights back, to own a suppressor, so long as you send in your platypus to get it fitted. MOST parts can be purchased separately on their website. They will also be offering additional caliber options later this year, ALL of which, utilizing glock magazines from different glock models, designated to their calibers. This affords the average shooter a chance to enter the DB 1911 universe, while not needing to buy VERY expensive proprietary magazines. Which can easily cost over $50-$130, per magazine. Glock magazines are like $15. Need I say more? Very Awesome.
I think the not locking back is an issue I have seen with almost all Platypus owners. What I noticed was every mag other than Glock oem locked back. I took mine to the range Wednesday and I only used Glock mags and it did not lock back on the first mag but it locked back on the last 3 mags. I have seen many videos of others having the same issue. Great video and very detailed description.

Stealth arms should place compensated cuts into the barrel and slides of these models to limit the recoil impulse and get this game changer firearm nicely, flat-shooting... Stealth arms are going to be highest rated on the 2011 market once their barrels are drilled. Happy hunting!
These upgrades are already out now, prickle grips and bull barrel variations, came out all on Feb 19. Now I’m just waiting on the .45 caliber to come out.
Stealth Arms is about to blow up if they haven’t already. And you know companies will be buying the platypus licensing to slap their logo on them. Ordered mine 2 weeks ago and can’t wait for it to arrive!
Your lock back grip issue is likely because the solid grip frame itself is thinner on the Platypus because there’s no grip panels. Where the grips on a standard 1911 keep your hand stood off a bit more.
I wish they had an option for a builtin comp. I was an early buyer so I missed out on many of the new options and they made a mistake on the trigger guard and I reached out several times but was ignored by customer service. This was my biggest complaint.
I would still go with shadow systems. The price is on point, and I love being able to mount whatever red dot on it and changing out different size grip it amazing.

Great review! One new future development (later this year) that S.A. said is comig, is new caliber offerings in .45acp, .40s&w & 10mm. I'm glad I waited and didn't order one when it was 1st released. These new features are what I was looking for. I said on Tactical Considerations Platypus video that I hope Stealth Arms comes out with a 3.5" version that takes Glock 19 mags... I think that would sell better than the staccato CS and the Bul Armory SASII ultralight. but please for God's sake...CHANGE THE NAME!!!🤣

To be fair, there's pretty much ALWAYS going to be a better version of WHATEVER you buy....(ie. Cell phones) But you can be proud that YOU were the first guy on the block with THIS one 😉! Great review as always! Thanks!
I want them to either do porting or island barrel if I’m saying it right, then I’m 110% buying their firearm. I was hoping to hear from you like “by the way guys, stay tuned they’ll port your gun as well and/or they’ll do island barrel like the Staccato xc”. I guess I can only hope so much.
Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed your content on this gun and other videos you've done. I have been looking at this gun for almost a year. At this point, I wish I had purchased one last year when it was a three-week turnaround. What is the difference between 4 1/4" and 5"? Does that affect the accuracy, use philosophy, or Durability?
If it has a red dot, it doesn't affect anything but conceal-ability and recoil impulse and possibly recoil spring wear. I have the 4.25 and use it in competitions, several people on reddit use the 5 inch guns for competition, I used a 5 inch gun for quite awhile. With no red dot, user accuracy will be better on the 5 inch gun due to sight radius. Accuracy and durability, if you have a dot is not to a degree anybody would notice.
Buyers remorse thing you mentioned happened to me. Ordered in Dec 2023 (14-18 week lead time), shot show 2024 and they showed off the prickle grip and bull barrel. So I did what any normal person does and ordered a new build today 😅.
I would love to see them come out with a slide stop that is also a gas pedal / thumb rest for us comp shooters that like having that. But I'm still going to pick one of these up for Limited Optics.
I wanted one of these bad enough before. Now watching your video, I have to have one!! My coffee can savings account is gonna get serious now!! First time viewer and subbed!
Good video thanks! I love my platypus, but agree with your family comments the new features are amazing kinda wish I would have had some of those options. Oh well just get another one in the future perhaps... Also the SSI nitro fin slide stop will function if you make a little modification and they have the instructions to knock down part of their slide stop. It sticks out and is a comp style so not conducive to CCW but just thought you may want that info I really like gas pedals myself.

It's all about options. A completely customizable weapon will just cost more to have it your way. 🤔
I have a Para, nite tac 45, coyote brown great pistol
If it's a threaded barrel add to dimples in it and put a killer innovations comp on it
Been waiting for this one. So stoked that you did it
I sometimes get the same slide lock issue with my CZ Shadow 2 😂.
To be fair, there's pretty much ALWAYS going to be a better version of WHATEVER you buy....(ie. Cell phones)
But you can be proud that YOU were the first guy on the block with THIS one 😉!
Great review as always!
Thanks!
What, he is one of the last guys to test a Stealth Arms Plat. Where have you been ?
Thanks for the review. Too many cons for such a new gun. I'll go with another vendor! Cheers!
Outstanding video , as usual. Thanks for the killer emails with those amazing deals! Peace
I'm gonna get one of these. Been playing around with their online builder.
hitting the 220 with a pistol is absolutely wild!!! Impressive to say the least!🔥🔥🔥
Looks like a great gun. I hope they will add 10mm auto and a compensator option.
Hope to see you do a review of the Mac 1911 DS 9mm
This thing is awesome. Hopefully with all these extras they offer it'll start spreading to mother brands.
TH-cam doesn’t like gun learning but it will still want ad revenue and subscriptions from us….
Noticed you held up a LFA Apollo 13, when is the review coming. Been interested in finding out if it's good and if it has issues with HP ammo.
Which one? Because I don't have a LFA yet
I’d like to see comparisons from you between this and the DWX compact. Both 2011ish, both not using 1911 mags very much in the same vain.
What is cool about the Platypus is you can kit it to look like a standard 1911 from from almost any angle.
Buyers remorse thing you mentioned happened to me. Ordered in Dec 2023 (14-18 week lead time), shot show 2024 and they showed off the prickle grip and bull barrel.
So I did what any normal person does and ordered a new build today 😅.
Love the content brother 🦾🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 and this Platypus is gorgeous
I would love to see them come out with a slide stop that is also a gas pedal / thumb rest for us comp shooters that like having that. But I'm still going to pick one of these up for Limited Optics.
I wanted one of these bad enough before. Now watching your video, I have to have one!! My coffee can savings account is gonna get serious now!! First time viewer and subbed!
Will never be better than an SVI infinity
You can have a custom slide release. They could've skeletonized the grip portion for 3D printed grip options.
If they come out with a model like model that is smaller like the Staccato CS 🎉🎉🎉
How’s the grip angle, is it Glock like or 1911 like?
Good video thanks! I love my platypus, but agree with your family comments the new features are amazing kinda wish I would have had some of those options. Oh well just get another one in the future perhaps... Also the SSI nitro fin slide stop will function if you make a little modification and they have the instructions to knock down part of their slide stop. It sticks out and is a comp style so not conducive to CCW but just thought you may want that info I really like gas pedals myself.
