Good video, however, since most will likely watch this while trying the free version, you should consider making a sample file that only has the maximum 8 key definitions. As is, following this tutorial, once you get to the part about loading the sample file, it fails as it has more than 8 key definitions.
Hello and Happy Holidays! Just a quick question. I understand how to bind the Stream Deck devices from the appended definition file, but how do I create the actual JSON file? Can you possibly point me to a tutorial video, or written manual, which can explain the creation of a definition file, i.e., the JSON files. Thank you so much.
You should not really try to edit the JSON file directly, they are quite complex and it is very easy to mess up the structure. You should use the Stream Deck configuration editor to create/adjust a stream deck configuration. You get to the editor using the X-Plane plugin/X-KeyPad menu.
Editing a JSON files was not exactly what I was asking about, but after watching your X-keypad 1.5.1 video, I believe I can start creating a new configuration file from scratch. I guess I was asking on how exactly do you use the X-keypad editor. Thank you so much for you quick response. @@stickandrudderstudios3217
Hello. Can you please point me int the right direction on how to set up a momentary key press. I am working on a configuration file for the Felis 474-200 and I can't figure out how to set up momentary key presses. For example, on the INS mode Select button, the mouse presses the key and when you release the mouse the key comes back up. But when I program a Stream Deck XL key with X-keypad, the key stays depress.
I am mostly using Datarefs as the Felis 747-200 does not have command refs for the keys I am programing. I would be happy to send you my config file it that would help. I've been able to successfully configure a large number of keys and encoders and really having fun doing it. There was a learning curve for me, but I've gotten the hang of it and now I'm enjoying it. Is there a setting I need to use when using Datarefs to simulate momentary key presses? Your input and advice are greatly appreciated. Thanks. @@stickandrudderstudios3217
I am not using Command functions for the keys that I want to program for momentary presses because Felis does not provide them. I have been using the Datarefs and Logic functions. I’d be happy to send you my configuration file if that would help. It’s been a learning curve for me, but I am getting the hang of it and I am now enjoying you program. Just need your help figuring out how to program the momentary key presses using the Datarefs. Thank you so much. @@stickandrudderstudios3217

Hello Mark. I tried to respond to your inquiry regarding my request on how to configure momentary key presses using the Stream Deck+ and XL, but my replies continue to disappear. You asked if I was using the command mode in continuous or single mode. I am not using commands since Felis does not provide them for the keys I want to configure. I am using Datarefs and I can't figure out how to program X-Keypad to press momentarily on certain keys. I can send you my configure file if you wish. I've watched most of your tutorials and can't seem to find the answer. Thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated.
If you don't have commands then we will have to use an expressive command. They can be a bit complex particularly when you want them to work as momentary. Contact me on our Discord server and we can set up a time to talk and I'll walk you through it. discord.gg/KBDYEMUAsz Mark
I' ve noticed with the MSFS stream deck profiles created by users, the profile install for a specific aircraft is contained in a simple, packaged install program for stream deck. Is that possible for Xkeypad?
Do you think they will ever provide a software only version of the Stream Deck? Its a bit like the 'virtual window' you can create on XKeyPad, which I put on my second monitor and really like it. Also how do you convert between the two, that is X-KeyPad to StreamDeck and vice versa?
OK that's good but I don’t want it on a mobile device, I want it on my computer monitor as I use normaly with XPlane where I can use that code from there to manipulate the 3D cockpit with my mouse. It’s the same as I already do with XKEYPAD with its virtual display. In esssence I am only interested in Software.
@@jamespimenta4257 I'm not sure what Elgato's plans are for something like that. I would be curious to know if this is for other things besides use with X-Plane as I would think that the X-KeyPad virtual devices cover a lot of those needs.
Excellent video. Thank you for your efforts.
Thanks for the update to the instructional video.

Good point. I'll try to create a simpler sample.

Did you set the command mode to continuous? I suspect you have it set for single. Let me know.

I really need to see what is possible via the Stream Deck store. Can you link me an example of such a profile so I can see how they did it?
