Not stupid at all but no, it actually has a very wide firing range including raku, earthenware and stoneware temps. I fire it to 1205C

Is it air dry clay and what kind of paint to use

No, I use clay that I fire in the kiln and finish with glazes. It depends which type of air drying clay you use but I've used acrylic paint to finish in the past as it coats the surface. Something that's not too watery is usually best.
