If your reading this I just want to say thank you very much for watching! This video is the biggest project I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on and I really appreciate you checking it out! Hope you had a good TIME and maybe learned something you didn’t know!
Oh wow, I've been very excited for the release of this video and it sure didn't disappoint! The editing was phenomenal, especially in the way it transitioned both between the video footage but in particular between the music. I had never given much thought to a cohesive timeline for Hearthstone so this was a very interesting watch! I definitely learned a couple things, like Lazul is a Faceless?! Whaaaaaaat?! Also I forgot how hard the soundtrack for Sunken City goes 🤘🤘🤘
Thank you so much! Glad we were able to teach you something’s too!!! Also yup Sunken City’s theme slaps hard. Almost cut it off as we we’re transitioning to Festivals section but just had to let the beat drop play a little longer XD

this was one the best videos on the topic of hearthstone i have ever seen! this unironically made my evening so much better amazing job guys, keep up the content!!
Just watched this on the TV, but had to come here on my phone to THANK BOTH OF YOU for this masterpiece! I already follow Machado for a while and love his lore facts (I'm a big sucker for Warcraft lore, even more if its related to Hearthstone, heheh), but I just found about Bionic thanks to this partnership (the Twitter post), so here's my sub! Thank you again for this awesome video, you two are definitely among Hearthstone's GOATs 🧡
That's so awesome! I make a ton of Custom Cards for hearthstone so I've been getting really into WoW lore myself the past few years and I've also loved how Hearthstone utilizes WoW's lore and makes its own! So happy you enjoyed our video!
This video was incredible, I congratulate you for doing a good job, for some time I have been waiting for someone to create a timeline of the Hearthstone world.
I’m so happy you enjoyed the video! And yah I always felt the same way, always wanted to see a Hearthstone Timeline video and am so excited that I got to help make it :D
Rise of shadows, saviors of uldum and DRAGOOONSS were the peak of hs lore! There was so much love put into those stories and I miss those adventures, I'm also adept at the timeline theory, I even wonder if some expansions took place in the different timeline where Rafaam won. Also, funny how influential Rafaam and the old gods are to the game's lore in general
This video was an honor to make! Bionic is a really cool guy and we had so much fun in the researching, crafting and theorizing made for this. Really, thank you Bionic, cause this was amazing!
It was so much fun working with you as well! Thank you for lending your knowledge and voice to this video. I learned so much from working with you on this project, truly it has been an amazing experience. Congrats once more on 400 days of lore facts! 🎉
It's great that the pieces that technically don't fit work as stories within stories. I wouldn't have thought that the more recent sets would take place before the League of Explorers. But when you lay EVERYTHING out on the table, it makes sense.
Amazing job, I've been waiting for something like this for so long and you guys nailed it! I had a thought about the finley paradox recently, and it was only strengthened by the hypothetical mention of infinite toki being a product of the EVIL wins path of descent of dragons. Could finley have been granted the ability to have done the same thing in that timeline (he was repping the same class as nozdormu after all), returning to where the other members of the league first met to ensure they would know to band together and find the scales of justice in their future? Slightly related and entirely conjecture as I haven't looked into it yet, but is it possible nathria is a direct follow up to the EVIL wins path as well? I can't remember the specifics but I seem to remember the devs mentioning that rafaam wasn't in the shadowlands because he died, and he had gone for treasure, but that might be wrong. It would explain elise's presence, though, as well as sylvanas, who is killed during the events of rafaam's victory.
i love this video! i’ve always been a fan of hearthstone’s lore, so seeing it all taken seriously and chronicled together in one places fills me with so much joy! one big problem though rokara is confirmed to be one of the children in journey to ungoro, which means that alterac valley block has to come *after* league of explorers and showdown in the badlands
@@bionicdoorhuge respect for researching and putting together all of that. Also a brilliant idea with hiding codes throughout the 51 minute video in a way that really required thinking. Unfortunately I saw it 1hr after upload so had no shot on cracking the puzzles. Great job!
So, I think there's a problem regarding Rastakhan's Rumble and Festival of Legends. It's pretty much confirmed that losing the Rumble means death, with Voone himself commenting after defeating you that he will "sign your tombstone". So if Voone is alive for the Festival, that would mean either that the Festival occurs BEFORE the Rumble, or that Voone is the canonical winner of the Rumble.
Honestly, I wouldn't have too much problem with Voone being the canonical winner. Now, granted, Hooktusk also appears in a later expansion, but she seems like someone who could get out alive if she tried. Maybe she was Voone's final opponent and decided to "screw this I'm outta here"?
Rock Master Voones flavor text directly references Rumble Voone saying that Voone decided to go less all in on Dragons after members of the audience where burnt to a crisp.
@@WhirringGears that was actually a misunderstanding on my part, though it is possible that Voones accident happened during Rumble it’s actually more accurate that it happens at the festival, for some reason I had it in my head that it was OG Voones flavor text that mention the dragons burning the crowd. Either way whenever the accident happened it causes Voone to not use dragons during festival of legends
Very cool video! And what about the children from the Journey to Ungoro trailer? They look a lot like the mercenaries from the Horde and the Alliance who fought Onyxia. Could it be their children? I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that in the "murder at Castle Nathria" we can find the previously deceased Brukan (on the art of the Shaman's card), as well as Rafaam, who began to run demons in the afterlife. Yes, it looks like he died after all.
Congrats on video! I will say that machadog’s microphone truly suffered made it extremely difficult to decipher along the music just being too loud during his parts. Audio engineering trails and this video would be perfection!
Great and interesting video! Though it is pretty hard for me to follow the narration from Machadogps, even with subs on. He is just a little too quiet and I cannot make out some words, probably because I am not a native speaker myself.
It looks like a really solid Timeline, and it's something I was trying to figured out for years. Tho, i'm pretty sure that *Mixologist* is supposed to be a younger *Kazakus.* Which could still be the case, cause Blizzard dosn't cares that much about HS lore. Badlands kinda shamesly retcomes the League of Explorers. Originally *Finley* was raised for *Elise* since was an egg and she teach him to talk. (A tendency that you can see again with *Hydrologist,* the other only murloc that knows how to speak, and that is implied to be an student of *Elise* ) But then on Badlands, when they just met, *Finley* is already a full grown Murloc, and is mysteriously holding the *Scales of Justice,* that we know he is supposed to get in *Uldum.* Which dosn't disproves the video, but shows the lack of care from HS in it's own world. We use to have comics and adventures to tell the story, now we don't even have a short tale in a blog telling whats going on in the set.
I would actually say that Hearthstone does still put a lot of care into its lore and continuity. To address the problems you brought up, Mixologist is actually definitely not Kazakus, his signature art actually shows that he is a blue troll, the lighting in the original card just makes him appear to be a bit more purple, but if you look close at that you can tell he is still blue. As for Finley this one is actually a lot harder to explain. We originally even had a 4 minute segment of the video dedicated to it but had to cut it for time. Essentially it is our belief that Finley the Intrepid is actually Finley from the future, take directly after the events of descent of dragons. And we actually believe this to be intended! As you mentioned we know from the lore that Elise raises Finley, so it would make sense that to have him appear in the Showdown mini set and not be a baby Murloc, they would take an older Finley and have him appear here. The cards flavor text even eludes to this as it asks “how Finley can turn people into Murlocs”, which is making reference to The Scales of Justice card from Uldum, almost hinting at how in the story it’s weird that he would have it. There are a couple other small connections too, such as Finley’s play sound showing that even Finley doesn’t know where he is. And his classes being both Paladin and Shaman, which is the dual class he is assigned in Tombs of Terror (where Finley gets the Scales of Justice) Finally there is a bit of out of game hints that Finley is a time traveler as one of the devs when asked what was up with Finley said “he wasn’t there, and then he was”. All of this is to say I wouldn’t claim Hearthstone has lost its continuity, worst case is that they made one very small mistake with Finley, and even that can be explained away with a ton of small details. Which I find to be pretty neat.
@@bionicdoor my complain Is that they don't explain almost anything. That Finley Is a Time traveler it would be pretty cool If there was something in game that tells you that. And they don't really use adventurers, flavor text or even short stories to explain stuff. For example we don't know almost anything about Whizbang and a whole set turns around him. The only thing we know Is that he comes from a myserious place, and that Boom teached him the technology to make His toys. But other than that you don't know anything. Why Hagatha it's there. Who Is pitsi. Why Puppet Theatre showcase Rafaam If Rafaam Is dead. He resurrected? It's Whizbang's Workshop in a liminal place between dimensions? All that stuff could be at least hinted. Like i'm not asking for a novel, but at least a flavor text that says "Boom convinced Whizbang to hire her old friend Hagatha" instead of just say "Soup up". Or a tiny bit of Lore with the unique to HS legendaries like they used to do. I don't know, I feel that each Time they give less and less details with each expansion. The bare minimum, like how you can tell that Incriminating Psychic Is Draconic Operative just with his flavor text and summon voice line.
@paperknigth2263 I would agree with you there, I’d love to see more in game lore connections, as well. I do think in particular the Finley mystery does check all the boxes for me, as it uses both his flavor text and summon line to hint at something going on there. But I agree we could see more lore centered flavor texts.
Speaking of Finley - could it be possible to be there two Finleys? The one from Badlands is the first one is already a skilled paladin and shaman wielding the scales of Justice. Then he gave Elise his egg and sealed the scales of Justice from evil in Uldum, knowing that his next incarnation would find them when needed.
@@machadogps1929 Is there anywhere I can find this voiceline? I can't find it. Also where is the implication that Shaw is only in it for the gold? His attack sound is "For Gilneas!" so I'd argue differently.
The voice lines can be found on the Hearthstone Wiki here: hearthstone.wiki.gg/wiki/Elise_the_Leader Her line vs Kurtrus is towards the bottom. As for Shaw, that was more of a small flavor line added, not really intended to imply what the characters actual motives are. Though I am sure at least in part Shaw was in it for the gold, how else is he going to feed his army of dogs!
@@bionicdoor One more thing, I'm pretty sure that Ashes of Outland, and therefore by technicality Darkmoon Races need to take place either a bit before, or after Saviors of Uldum. In Felfire, Aranna mentions that Elise is a Druid, but we know that it was around Saviors of Uldum that Elise unlocked her druid abilities, just like how the rest of the explorers did.

PiP definitely at least needs to be after Kobolds, because Marin has the Kobold’s treasure and we know for a fact that Kobolds is after Year of The Gryphon because we see a young togwaggle during the book of mercenaries. We also see Aranna (as a demon hunter) in the book of mercenaries before we meet young Togwaggle. Can’t really explain how she doesn’t appear to be a demon hunter in her art. Could be an inconsistency or there is some WoW explanation that could allow demon hunters to appear normal. I’m not too sure myself. I will say we also have seen some Aranna skins where she doesn’t have her horns or eyes but is still wielding fel magics such as Deadeye Aranna, so it seems to just be something she can do
@@bionicdoor Ngl, the timeline is very messy so its hard to make sense of it. But hm, maybe Perils in Paradise is actually the ultimate prequel and we're saying those characters (Marin, Lynessa, Patches, Aranna, Eudora, etc) BEFORE they go on the adventures in the expansions we know instead of AFTER? Don't ask where Marin got those treasures from, but so far we dont really have anything in terms of character apperances that would singlehandedly disregard that theory.
@@marleonka. I would say there is more evidence for this happening after Kobolds. The comics explicitly tell us that Marin took the Kobold treasures from the Catacombs and specifically went there to find The Woecleaver but was didn’t end up getting the blade. So I think narratively it makes sense that he absconds with the loot to the spiral isles along with some of his buds from the catacombs (A.F.Kay and Lynessa) and makes his own version of the Woecleaver (The Ryecleaver) as a memento of his journey. We also know that Tidepool Pupil is the Nagaling from Sunken city. Which that set is definitely after Year of The Dragon which is 100% very late in the timeline.
