It’s interesting how familiar non-banjo tunes can turn out so neat on the banjo. I also like the encouragement that it’s always ok to play the melody of a tune. 👍 Thanks!
Great stuff Jim …six months ago I hit a learning plateau …but I kept going and got through that . I love it now when you change melodies ( slightly) to suit the banjo 👍🏴 Thank you once again Jim 👍
Hello Jim good music I love bluegrass Bob scaggs oldies metal rock and roll im a bit collective in music I really enjoy your videos your the best on TH-cam in my opinion because I have a learning disability and your videos are very explainitory hands on kinda lol it helps me pick it up a lil faster god bless you Jim and hope all is well with you and your loved ones have a blessed day id comment more but my Playstation I cant figgure out how to comment on it but ik on my phone lol 😀 the bajo soothsayer my soul the sound puts me in a happy place
Afternoon, Mr. Pankey. I really appreciate all that you do, and that you respond to comments because this is the only "social media" I have. Is there someone JUST LIKE YOU but for the fiddle? I am just a very spergy guy who has zero understanding of the music lexicon, and who genuinely doesn't know where to start with all of the places the modern world gives you. Once again, I deeply appreciate your work at bringing the banjo to into relevance anywhere you are on here.
The point I tried to make with these is that the concepts and techniques I teach in my beginner series are applicable to any song someone wants to play. If you’re not applying those ideas then no amount of lessons on tunes like these will ever help anyone to play. It only leaves them looking for yet another tutorial. Apply the principles and start creating your own arrangements. That’s the goal.
Careful now you might start playing Hendrix, ha, ha! Since yo have exp with many banjos I decided you might know ... The cheaper aluminum flange banjos, can a master tone style flange be simply swapped?

Keep practicing. You’ll be ready sooner than you think!
Jim this is great! I’m trying to get better at making banjo arrangements of popular non banjo songs myself. There’s so many good candidates out there
Hopefully this will give you some ideas.

@@JimPankey thanks, for replying, all of your lessons have helped me become a better banjo player, my comment yesterday was meant in jest,
My grand pa used to play
Reminds me of the work of (AB junior). Check out (Stratovarious520) Totally different, minus a couple exceptions, but you'll enjoy the rag. ✌️
Thanks 😊
Hi Jim
Is there a possibility that you could teach us the Beatles “Here comes the Sun”
Thanks
Ronnie
No plans for that. I bet you can figure it out though.
Very cool! I love the look of that banjo, is it an RK 75?
RK85
I was wondering if you could do cherokee shuffle. Thanks
Good suggestion! In the meantime maybe this will help… th-cam.com/video/riUzb33shYw/w-d-xo.html

Hey y'all
Hey :)
Hey Jim can you do a newer video on how to play amazon grace? Thank you. Jim
I have no plans for that.

There’s probably some Hendrix on this thing ✌🏼
@@JimPankey Everything is on TH-cam. I lived a few blocks from Jim but never knew him, he was dead by then but his dad was really nice .
Can’t change flange on those aluminum pots
@@JimPankey Thanks, I don't like the looks so I will steer clear from them .. Thinking about a parts build so this helps, thanks.
👍👍👍🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
Interesting...
Glad you think so!
Great! Get the melody and then use fill ins.
Yup 😊
Nice arrangement Jim, but the verse you are playing is different than the tab. Could you please clarify? Thank you
It’s close enough (actually, seems spot on). Challenge: if you can hear a difference, it’s time to put away the tabs.
Looks too hard for me. Maybe in the future. Good job though Jim!!
Come back to it when you’re ready.
