@kramerguitarist I would agree with that, my SG neck was designed for mickey mouse hands... Honestly, I'm happy with my custom telecaster's neck, I've been nothing but dissapointed by the base models that fender and gibson put out, considering all the third party companies that offer more features for less.
I think your right. The production 61' reissues get 57' classics. Even thought this one is a custom shop and most custom shops get the burstbuckers. Being that it is modeled after a 61' it most likely has the 57's. I put 57's in my 04' sg standard along with orange drop caps. cts pots and a tone pros bridge and tail.Players tell me it sounds as close as you can get to a custom shop without spending all the coin. LOL. Rock on!
Anyone who tries to put Epiphone in the same league as Gibson is deluded in my opinion. I own an Epiphone G400 SG and a Gibson SG standard and the Gibson blows it away. Don't get me wrong for £179.99 the G400 is an amazing guitar but when you put them side by side its Gibson all the way for me.
Been waiting a long time to see this amp on your channel Rob. I own one myself and I dont think there is another amp with quite the same level of win. I think you had mentioned in another video that you actually had one of your own, am I remembering correctly and if so, do you still have it? I think these amps have a wonderful clean-ish when used with single coils and you do some great work in that vein as well as the metally stuff; Id love to see you do some of that.
I love my SG. I think they are my favourite guitars. Althought it looks a bit odd on you Rob :) Also is there always a Sofa in the shop or do you bring that in with you :D
Hi Rob "The Legend" Chappers, I love this reissue - I thought it was supposed to be a 63 "SG standard" custom shop repro rather than 61 reisue (Les/SG) made by the USA division but must be wrong - I can't get a Les Paul as I am far to fat and can't reach or see the fingerboard have to have an SG instead!! :-(
So I play an SG Special Faded WC, my friend has an epiphone les paul, my guitar doesnt even sound louder, it stays in tune longer and it sounds not as mushy as the lp from epiphone. Trust me, pay every cent you can on a Gibson guitar and you pay every cent right.
What's that thing on your head? You either had a bad hair day or you're a really stylish jew.The '61 is the best sounding, easiest playing guitar I ever owned.Unfortunately, the neck and neck joint are TOO thin and go out of whack too easity.Expect neck adjustment monthly if you don't break it completely playing on the road.
my friend had an sg and it was a beast. then it neck dove to the pavement, came off the strap, and the neck snapped off as it hit the ground. what a day that was .
I can tell you now overly fanatic Epiphone fan, I own an Epiphone g-400 65 reissue deluxe with maestro, and have played almost every form of the G-400 out there, and I can tell you that Gibsons are better feel, quality, and tone! Not trying to be a mean, but come on dude!
Epi SG's SUCK* I mean. But I don have like 4 Epiphones and they have always been my favorite, but the quality of a Gibson SG 61 reissue is in a entirely did league than the Epi Sg400
What incredible TONE! Amongst the best recorded tones on any of your videos to date! Amazing! :-)
I could be wrong, but I don't think the 1974x means the year 1974. Just like a late 60s Marshall Plexi is called a 1959.
Can taste the crunchberries from here......awesome.
rob made those two great reissues sound horrible. fantastic
That tone is pure rock and roll.
1974 is the model, it's actually a '68 style amp.
This is my ideal rig. AWESOME.
Great amp and great guitar.
I love that tone
that guitar is excellent ... absolutly love it !! the marshall combo sounds pretty good as well ...
Nice, great demo \m/
After the SG was born, what's the point of having any more Les pauls?
@AmethystMusic1 Cheers mate I appreciate that ;-)
@RobChappers That would be awesome. Im back across the pond now. But i will give you a call all the same. Talk to you soon mate!
Rock n Roll Forever!
@RobChappers ah right! sorry, i didn't notice it had just gone up! my bad lol
nice sound, i like SG! Chappers, your the best!
@kramerguitarist I would agree with that, my SG neck was designed for mickey mouse hands... Honestly, I'm happy with my custom telecaster's neck, I've been nothing but dissapointed by the base models that fender and gibson put out, considering all the third party companies that offer more features for less.
I've bought the non custom shop today
it's an awesome guitar
one word , You rock , oh thats two words
@LateNightShredder World Guitars and Chappers will always work together - I'm there every month, so hopefully I'll get through most of them ;-)
nice one Chappers!!!!
I hear some Black Hand in there! Good to see you doing well amigo!
If that were a vintage laney i wouldn't be able to resist the almightey sabbath riffs.
knew those weren't the burstbucker covers from the start. got my amp, its a great one. sweet gutiar, have yet to get me one
:O! sounds great chap :D
great "vintage wipe "like you say ;) i love !!!
Bloody Hell
I F*cking love SGs, man, that's a good present for me :D .
aaah, vintageness:D
Nice combination - Chappers+Gibson SG+Marshall
Robin :o)
@0cscott It's still rendering mate - Only been up 2 minutes ;-)
The Ultimate hard rock guitar!

LesterPaul01 custom shop Les Paul SG 61 standards only have burstbuckers fitted. Your thinking of the Gibson USA 61 reissue that has 57’s fitted.
Actually the model 1974 was made in 1966 and 1967
@M3T4LM8 Lots more band stuff on the way my friend ;-)
Correction regarding the amp - Marshall originally issued the 1974x in the SIXTIES! i.e. 1966 - 68.
@RobChappers i would love to see a jam session between you and sam... i am exited now.
Combo breaker. hooray for guitars.
I'm not a fan of the colour, but the tone is great, as with all all Gibson guitars, bar the Melody Maker.
nothin better than an SG with tone knob slightly down, playing with a slide into a Marshall.
@TheBigdaddyJRT Hi mate! I prefer Les Paul as well ;-)
Hello Chappers!
The wood and the electronics are a little lacking but overall they feel the same. I do, however, personally like how my G400 has no fretboard binding.
I have a chambered les paul that is a little heavier than an sg, and sounds amazing.
But man, ITS CUSTOM SHOP. I own an Epi myself and i've tried one if these babys and my Epi was not bad. But this is too GOOD.
the epiphones are Shit
Hey Chappers! What tune is it your playing from 2:03 to 2:27?
Can you please re-record this demo with current audio/video tech in HD?
rob mate you got any jobs down south? looks like a blast at andertons!!!
Been waiting a long time to see this amp on your channel Rob. I own one myself and I dont think there is another amp with quite the same level of win. i've got an sg custom 3 pickup !! its awsome
i really want that amp!
What song are you playing at 2:10? It's really catchy! :D
i need this guitar!
Nice git! woulda been killer in that 800 behind u!
Hey Chappers, could you make a demo of this guitar with The Captain?
Had one of these, great sounding, playing guitar, but had some neck issues.
I love my SG. I think they are my favourite guitars. Althought it looks a bit odd on you Rob :)
Also is there always a Sofa in the shop or do you bring that in with you :D
chappers with an SG is pretty sweet if you ask me...
Crap, now I have SG g.a.s... That'd look amazing with some DiMarzios. Uncovered of course, pickup covers never appealed to me as much. :D
@0cscott dude the vid's been up like 5 seconds, it takes time for youtube to fully process the video's to best quality
Which is the best, this one or the sg standard 2016 t?
@coulsonsam87 Hi mate! Give me a call at some point about being on Chappers TV ;-) You still in the UK?
@coulsonsam87
two of my subscriptions:
Sam and the Chap-man!!
So I play an SG Special Faded WC, my friend has an epiphone les paul, my guitar doesnt even sound louder, it stays in tune longer and it sounds not as mushy as the lp from epiphone. Trust me, pay every cent you can on a Gibson guitar and you pay every cent right.
chappers what was the riff you played around 2:07
its rob from andertons!
I thought sg's back in 1961 where called les pauls?
Pointless comment is pointless.
+Alex jennings why is it pointless
I've said it before, I say it again. I've said it before.
but its true
@Super3Dsound, the neck would not stay put, I had to mess with the truss rod every day, and sounded out of tune, even after having it intonated
You play "Back in Black" the exact same, wrong way that I do.
how is the neck compared too a les paul?
@lauriemonk Hi mate! How you doing?
@MrMeAndMyVideos i take it ur left handed?
Back in black?!
what was the song you played around 2:07?
Please, let Rob Chappers always do the talking and of course the playing!
i needs me an sm57
Does it have burstbuckers?
anymore midrange in that first bit and youd be swimming in it.
do you think gibson still make great guitars
This guitar sounds just like my Epi Firebird played through a cheap Roland amp.
what is the first song title?
Rob Chappers for 2011 G3 tour!!!!!!
@EPI6fingers lol ok if thats what you need to tell yourself :D
whats with the poor quality of this video? none of the rest of your videos has been like that?! did it just upload bad?
What's that thing on your head? You either had a bad hair day or you're a really stylish jew.The '61 is the best sounding, easiest playing guitar I ever owned.Unfortunately, the neck and neck joint are TOO thin and go out of whack too easity.Expect neck adjustment monthly if you don't break it completely playing on the road.
I may get some hate for this but im not a fan of the look of sg's. Its too bad because they're nice its just not my cup of tea.
+nocab28 I have this model and love it, But you either love the SG or hate it.
my friend had an sg and it was a beast. then it neck dove to the pavement, came off the strap, and the neck snapped off as it hit the ground.
what a day that was .
sounds like rock n roll poetry
Beats the panty pants off a PRS!
I can tell you now overly fanatic Epiphone fan, I own an Epiphone g-400 65 reissue deluxe with maestro, and have played almost every form of the G-400 out there, and I can tell you that Gibsons are better feel, quality, and tone! Not trying to be a mean, but come on dude!
epifingers is on the pipe......lol
@MrMeAndMyVideos im lefty too :p
really dark amp but I bet he has the tone down because he has to have the mids scooped or he poops himself.
@Chipmonkcheeks53 if im paying 5-15 maybe even 25k for a guitar i wanna do it in comfort!
wouldn't you?
theirs that sexy sg, can anyone lend me money so i can have it lol
@samzoboyo fail ;P
@TheJonas06 probably thinner
Epi SG's SUCK* I mean. But I don have like 4 Epiphones and they have always been my favorite, but the quality of a Gibson SG 61 reissue is in a entirely did league than the Epi Sg400
@asianaxeman Go buy a Jackson...and yes I was being sarcastic.Oh and get a hundred pedals and a synthesizer while you're at it
hahaha
mmmmmm gibson....
