I understand how much these two games changed the franchise but they hold a special place in my heart as they remind me of being a little kid and playing SR3 for the first time and then playing 2. Then being hyped for IV. SR3 is one of the main reasons i started making videos in the first place.
You didn’t even give it a shot? What a shame, saints row iv is one of the funnest games of all times, and offers a lot new cool features that SR3 didn’t have like weapon skin customization and more upgrades, on foot radio, more vehicles, more homies, better dlc content, missions that look back on the older saints row, and a bunch of cameos from past saints row characters and celebrities. You can disable the super powers, you can play it however you want, the side activities now introduce a ranking system from Bronze, Silver, Gold… and yes you can change the time of day in the control panel.
Having played those 2 games back to back recently, I give all the credits to SR4. Sure, it's not a gangster game anymore, but it's so fun as it is, and made me appreciate each character even more.
Saints Row 4 is the only game i've played in the series and i love it to death. it's one of my favorites games i've played. i keep looking to see if the previous games are worth playing and it's seems not. one of the biggest knocks is that the previous games are different and doesn't feature what i enjoy in 4 so i guess that's where i am. i guess for me it's 4 and nothing else in the series
bought sr2 a few years ago, but i couldnt get it running on windows 10 and gave up. guess i missed a lot :( sr4 was really fun the first time. but its always sr3 that im replaying over and over. (but it feels like the same game, more like a part 1 and part 2, like them both) got saints row 2022, i was so hyped, regardless of the bad reviews as im usually not very judgy about many things and never trust bad reviews. but damn i lost interest after 10 hours. its worse than i expected.
SR4 definitely deserved higher in series respect tbh, just because gameplay elements changed to a superhero game, the story took us all back to the roots if people want to admit it or not, we saw Vice Kings, the Brotherhood, Ronin, Old Shaundi came back with Veteran Child, Keith David came back as himself to basically be Julius...but not lol I would have done a ranking on enemies as well, for honestly the enemies of SR3 are done way better and don't feel repetitive to fight, yet the Zin seem to just throw the same spongy special enemies at you and expect you to not get bored until a warden spawns, combat in 4 was only fun in the boss battles and the prison simulations for it was mostly unique, and run slamming into base Zin troops was probably the most fun It's actually something Gat Out of Hell did better than SR4, having base enemies with somewhat tanky specialists like in SR3 attack until then a powerful boss spawns
I personally disagree with series respect, sure it respected some characters and gave some nods but in that same way it also destroyed the saints row franchise with it's over the top story, it never solved the dex thing whilst also kinda hinting at it at the beginning, and being honest while we got references to the old games a lot of older fans didn't like it because of the new style, I hear what you're saying but besides a few VERY good nostalgic missions the rest of the game is FAR from what saints row did before. Remember it's not entirely about the gameplay elements being about superpowers it's more about how it impacted the story, all the lose ends just ended with the earth blowing up, any chance of the old style of game also ended with this game, while it gives some nods it's nothing more imo
@@AJThirdStreet mean, in SR3 they never looked for Dex, though what SR lore says is that Dex apparently dies in the crashed plane close to steelport (my source being and old Flippy video) also the fact, SR3 never even mentioned Dex, SR4 did, even if it was a small quip fake Shaundi made in the first simulation And I mentioned gameplay because that is usually people's main source of deducting series respect, but the story, though over the top in it's nature, is usually why I ignore that for the most part and just view the narrative as a whole, which is; the Boss saving the other members from a sadistic Alien's prison simulations that hold the past trauma from what each member experienced, Shaundi blaming herself for Johnny's "death" as well as facing her old self and Veteran Child, Johnny constantly stuck on a loop to stop Aisha's death, Pierce and making the Saints a brand, facing that in the form of Paul (yes that's ridiculous) all of these examples of what drove the Saints to where they are now, facing the Zin for their supposed crimes against the Zin empire, which has more character development and respect for the past than SR3 ever had, only Shaundi had development, and not just in the character model lmao, being an angry intolerable person because Johnny died SR3 never truly looked back on the past of SR1 and SR2, almost down right ignored it while SR4 acknowledged it more than I would expect, especially looking back at it to make this response Which is why I would at least give series respect to end this off A 5.5/10 And even though this is all opinion based I feel like you're not giving the whole narrative enough credit, for the gameplay respect I would agree would be a 3/10
@@AJThirdStreetin saints row 4, which choices is better good or bad, because they'll be more decisions in saints row 4 and how to get the true happy ending
Something I thought of that they could have done for Dex was replace Keith David’s simulation with a mission with Dex imagine that since Zinak was collecting people (much like he did with Gat and Santa) Dex was one of them and knowing how he has a history with the boss told him if he stops us he’ll bring earth back and return him home with high power on earth knowing how selfish Dex can be he accepts and we get a mission where he tries to kill us but we end up killing him instead idk I think it could’ve worked
I revisit SRTT more often than IV. The one thing that prevents me from enjoying IV more is that the traversal system feels like a cheap rip-off of Prototype, a game that came out in 2009. Playing IV always makes me want to play Prototype instead
I played 3 after 2, and was very disappointed. I was expecting The Third to be just like 2 with a whacky story. Unfortunately, 3 had gotten rid of mechanics that made me love 2. I played it for 10 hours, I hated the mission structure, wanted system was a step backwards, and the city just felt flat. The only thing I enjoyed was the interactions between the saints. I was not expecting anything great out of 4. I tried it, and the first 20 mins grabbed me. Its the whole over the top storyline and powers that make it a good gameplay loop. Its the fun factor that made me love 4 more than 3. I play SR2 cuz its my fav and I play 4 cuz its fun. 1 and 3 I can live without touching them again.
I like both of them but for me 3 is better just because it's more grounded and it still feels like of what saints row is supposed to be which is a Goofy version of gta and 4 is nothing like it it's still really fun but I don't think it's a good saints row game it'd be better without the saints row name
I'm doing my game vs game verdict 1 point at a time. Story- To put it lightly Saints Row IV's story could be described best as trying to take it self seriously while being a story full of shitposts at the same time much alike SRTT but unlike SRTT SRIV's way of doing it is at least entertaining so I am willing to give that point to SRIV. Map- They are both the same objectively worst Saints Row map but something about Saints Row IV having the abundance of alien architecture and the buildings broken and having debris rising turns me off so I'm giving that to SRTT. Gameplay- I started with SRTT and SRTT's to me is solid with controls, activities, mission structure etc and while SRIV can be very fun with superpowers I am not too keen on having to collect clusters constantly on a daily gameplay experience as it can be quite tedious especially with how much clusters you have to collect in order to upgrade a power and store hacking which is absolutely unnecessary especially since store hacking is on a time limit and you are pressured to solve the hack before getting attacked by Zin. I give this point to SRTT. Customization- Both games customization are about the same I understand that SRIV has the voice slider but the thing is the voice slider sounds unnatural and robotic(an issue that is not present with SRR's voice slider) and some SRIV ports actually botch customization on certain clothing items and even cut them out so customization goes to SRTT. Series respect- Both games are very respectful to the series and games before them. SRTT has the story centered on 3 gangs, a non gang faction , defeating and killing key members of those factions, gameplay features like taking over their territory. While SRIV has many throwbacks to the old games they feel forced and pretty fan service in my eyes and has a major change in foundation(superpowers, overtly sci fi, having only 1 main antagonist and not crime oriented) so I feel SRTT gets that point. In conclusion: SRIV gets 1 point while SRTT gets 4 and based on how i feel about these games this is accurate with my 1 point for each category ranking.
I really like the third and fourth parts, for some reason many consider the fourth part as nonsense, but on the contrary I like it, this is the only game in which anything can happen, Lots of madness in these parts, that's what makes this game special and I really like it
Yeah, me and my friend wanted to play coop, but he wants to play saints row 4 and I want to play saints row 3. Any idea on which one has the better coop?
Possibly but I think even on a gameplay level there's more too it, I'd say sr4 is better wrote, but then again it doesn't have any gangs, also the maps different etc

SR3 for me. I only played 4, for about 20 minutes and never played it again, but I prefer more grounded open world games. I'm sure people love 4. 💯
