I think he is being more protective than wanting attention. Now that his silverback transformation has started, his intent is to help protect the troop as a beta ape. Just guessing.
@@klmoll I respect what you are saying, it's not Gentaros fault they haven't found him a mate & he should have been moved, sorry to say this but Kyoto are not meeting their duty of care, this is not the first time they have neglected to address the situation.. Anyway, just my opinion.

I love this family of gorillas the best they seem close. Gentaro has lots of personality he does at times get slapped by mom an Momo is quite protective of Kintaro who mischievous but then you see dad an sons play an mom cleaning Gentaro compared to the Shabani gorilla family this group seems to really be cohesive love them
Zookeepers keeper can your guys get 3 more blankets so they all an have one each.
I have about three blankets on the floor, but like human children, they want what belongs to others.

There are other blankets, but they are deliberately fighting each other to play with them.

This is sad. A baby trying so hard to get his dad’s attention, only to look dejected and alone when it fails. Maybe it would be exactly the same in the wild, I don’t know, but I would not want to see a human child treated like this, and I don’t think of them much differently.
That's exactly how human parents SHOULD behave.
It the parents can't determine how serious an injury is, they shouldn't BE parents.

Fully erect, a gorilla's penis is about 1 inch long.
When it's not erect, it's basically small enough to not poke out from their fur.

They are being slaughtered in the wild by poachers, and losing their habitat by human encroachment.
