Levi Stubbs had a unique singing voice with an uncanny, supernatural quality that comes along once in a lifetime. There hasn't been anyone who poured all his heart and soul into each song like Levi before or since. He is greatly missed.
When my son was about six, he discovered this album in the closet and that was this was the only one he played. He would put the needle on this one over and over again. He's a man now and still play this song. Thank you so much mosogotam. You're the master of wonderful memories. I just can't thank you enough. Oh and did I mention...you rock!
“Hey, I made your favorite song longer.” “Marry me.” It’s so good. I wish I understood music theory so I could explain why the instrumental sounds and the vocals and the lyrics and their cadence, etc, why it all works so well. I wish I understood, and while it is frustrating that I don’t, I am grateful this exists, even if this all remains beyond my grasp forever.
God bring back this great Motown music it will never die to me I was the greatest music ever And your remastered pieces make them all the more better than ever
Man -- I love this song, and I love those guys! For years, when I was down, The Tops have raised me up again, challenged me to man-up and be the go-to guy for those I love and those I meet who need somebody to raise them up! If we ever needed the power and inspiration that they've provided for us here, it's now! Thank you, sir -- and thank you, Tops!
You got pure taste! I hope you will never lose your style. This song gives me "power" to love and be nice to other people, and to think with a clear and a sound mind.
While there are some GREAT lead singers of some groups, there are but only TWO that can ever bring me to tears: Levi Stubbs & Teddy Pendergrass. Period.
The Motown scene out of Detroit was phenominal!!!! Love love Levi Stubbs!!! This was the greatest part of growing up in the 60's!! You can't get any better than this!!
What beautiful harmony.......thanks for this. This is one of my favorite songs and I have always loved it because of the backing vocals. Awesome.....will never be another Four Tops
As so many have already said, you've made works of art in their own right, like we're hearing these (again) for the very first time -- and inside out! Many, many thanks . . .
I cannot choose a favourite Four Tops record because I love them all, but what attracted me to Reach Out was the flute solo at the start , and I always wanted to know which of the Funk Brothers it was . However I was watching a documentary on ITV (UK Channel 3) " The Nations Favourite Motown Song " and up pops this elegant blonde woman , puts a flute to her lips and plays the very piece I was looking for . It turns out it wasn't one of the Brothers but a very elegant blonde lady by the name of Dayna Hartwick , so thanks to the blonde lady with the flute a box has been ticked in my musical memory.
Yes indeed , she was a woodwind player with the DSO and is featured on singles and albums with The Tops, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson and others. She also does a lot of classical stuff, a very talented lady.
Here's another stretch I did that has Dayna in it....you may enjoy it...thanks for all the great information.....th-cam.com/video/GV11qq-VCyA/w-d-xo.html
Very cool to have the extended version of this masterpiece. It's showcases the masterful vocal of Levi Stubbs, along with the 4 tops harmony and the funky guitar. This is 5 and a 1/2 minutes of pure bliss!
mosogotam......And thank you so much for 'slipping in" H-D-H at 4:30 !!! They never get enough credit, IMHO, and deserve plenty more shots in videos of their great hits. Motown probably would've had a few flat tires without them !!!! 1-27-18
I don't like this... I LOVE IT!!!!!!! :) Especially featuring the late great Levi's solo-lead at the beginning!!! Considering that Marvin was THE god of Motown - and belongs in a totally different conversation (all by himself!) THIS is, in my opinion - the finest song to ever come out of the studio of Hitsville, U.S.A.!!! THANK YOU, so much, for this, Mosogotam!!! WOW!!! ;)
WE LOST MOSOGOTAM to coronavirus. it's a very big and very sad loss to music in general. he was a great guy, and he sure did know his stuff!! he gave us so much music to enjoy...he won't be forgotten. May he rest in peace...mr P, please say hi to Levi for me.
mary ruggiero Just reading this. Are you serious! What a horrible loss for us on You Tube and his friends and family. I can’t believe it! Damn this virus straight to hell.
@@brianherrington7226 i wish i weren't serious...John passed away about a month ago. you're so right...what a horrible loss for us all. very sad...he will definitely be missed...and remembered.
mary ruggiero Just googled the article and saw it was back in early April. John was his name and he hosted a late night radio show. What a terrible loss. God Bless him he’s given me a lot of comfort during this terrible time in our country and helped me cope by remembering we lived in a happier time. This really bums me out. I’m sad now.
@@brianherrington7226 well, my concept of time is gone since one day runs into another anymore! sorry for the misinformation. yes, his name was John Perrone, and he did host a radio show. i guess i just figured everyone knew about him...such a sweet guy. i'm sorry you feel so sad...i know i did too. i'm very sure John is in a much better place. hope his music gives you some comfort, and you find your peace.
mary ruggiero we must keep his channel up and running it’s the best tribute we could give him for giving us such joy remembering these days in such heartbreaking times.
John--Just listened to all three of this weeks entries--as always the best, super job. You have a unique ability my friend to know exactly where to extend and what parts to mix where to achieve a seamless master version., Again, thanks for sharing your talent.
I love this. I just happened to stumble across it while looking up the original, which has remained one of my top 10 most beloved songs since I was 10 years old. These other comments make me feel really excited to check out what else you've come up with. Not sure there's anything more awesome than an amazing producer working with amazing artists.

MOTOWN LEGENDS... FANTASTIC
Love the passion and energy in this song: Then and Now .. as only THE FOUR TOPS could deliver. ♥️🎵
You got pure taste! I hope you will never lose your style. This song gives me "power" to love and be nice to other people, and to think with a clear and a sound mind.
Great, keeping me alive this song , this era, I was there, sneaky old, but not really,
This song puts me and my heart in a mellow and high-class mood.

The Andantes!!...unsung...always there for a good background!
Right on to your extending these Four Tops tracks. 2 to 3 minutes ain’t enough burn time to get out of the atmosphere. You put ‘em into orbit.
Read most of the comments, Great to know people are still on the soul train 😉

Why or how would one get off?

1966 and the love of my life, how could it be 55 years ago?
MOSOGOTAM (John Perrone) is no longer here to make these truly SUPREME extended versions. He sadly succumbed to the Corona-19 virus in early 2020.
😢
The last 4 Top! A class act & a fine gentleman as well in public appearances. Rest Well in Soul Heaven. 🙏🏼💙😇💯💙🙏🏼😇

Good old soul music

Levi Stubbs could put emotion into a nursery rhyme if he sang it.
Like that other guy said....."Master of Mixing" !
Ron...thanks a lot!!
This long song sounds wonderful compared to the shorter one on the 7" discs played at 45 rpm. It sounds clean on TH-cam.
Aww Man, you've done it again. EXCELLENT I love it
wcpjams...thanks a whole lot!!
This should be played in churches worldwide - its GOSPEL to me!!!
I always felt like this song might as well be a gospel song. Levi’s voice may as well be God singing to someone. Message would fit too.
Great job!
