I love that this movie is just a giant middle finger to Disney, while also hopefully just being a good movie. That being said, I don’t want to see DW just doing remakes. I’d rather see then do original content. Everyone is sick of remakes and wants OC, so it would be nice to see a studio like DW fill this market, and not follow Hollywood trends.

Casting someone for diversity's sake is one thing. Sure, its woke and annoying, but we've seen it many times. But casting someone who actively hates the source material, never even _watched_ it, and never understood what it was actually saying? Disgusting. Even with other recent diversity hires, as far as I know Halle Bailey actually _likes_ the Little Mermaid. But this chick is disrespectful and ungrateful, and its the epitome of someone gaining an opportunity they dont deserve.

I just rewatched Harry Potter recently with my boyfriend and we noticed something. You very rarely see friendships like Harry's and Hermione's anymore in film. They were always there for eachother but it was never romantic or sexual. They loved eachother in a platonic way and it never escalated into anything sexual, but their love for eachother as friends deepened through the series. Alot of us grew up with those films but in rewatching it that stuck out as something very unique that doesn't typically happen in movies or shows now adays, especially with a guy and girl friendship
As someone in gen z I agree with this fully. It honestly just annoys me to no end that most movies these days throw in sex scenes for no reason. It legitimately feels like you’re watching a movie and then suddenly there’s just porn on for no reason. Seems like writers forgot that good stories can be written without taking off clothes. I don’t need to see another woman’s boobs or Chris hemsworth shirtless again, just write a good story and I’ll be happy.

Not sure I agree with that. But Snow White SHOULD be somewhat faithful to the source material (either Brothers Grimm, or the 1937 Disney classic, which is amazing). The person playing Snow White also shouldn't be a left-wing radical pushing insane modern neo-marxism on kids.
As a 22yr old Gen Z woman, I've been on the (difficult) search for quality books and movies that don't have sex scenes. I don't mind if it's implied, but I'd like it to be private between the characters. It's okay for writers to close the bedroom door. I don't mind if bad decisions related to sex are made either, but I'd like for the reason why it was wrong to be shown instead of characters acting like there's nothing to regret.

@thatsfunny2051 I know! I've tried reading some non "spicy" books but they're often cringey. I love to write, so I hope to write some non-cringe romances, and I have some ideas. But when I tried to start a contemporary fiction idea, it was so difficult! Historical romances without spice are so much easier!

There's literally no thematic reason to describe or show graphic sexual imagery. I read Stephen King as a kid because I liked scary stories, and came across so many graphic depictions of sex, usually between married couples that the audience assumes are having sex anyway. None of it served the plot as a whole, none of it changed anything, it's always an aside that does nothing for the film/book as a whole.
Quentin Tarantino barely ever puts nudity or sex in his movies, and I take that as a pretty big signifier that you can still have plots revolving around drugs, sex and violence, show depictions of sexual assault, and show one character's lust for another without ever having a chick get naked or even show tons of skin.
Hell, kill Bill has a long scene set in a strip club, where strippers are present the whole time, with nary a boob in sight. Everyone is clothed, the entire time. Shows like Shameless, Game of thrones, pretty much any Hollywood movie, it's all just titillation without any purpose
Ironically, since it's been made recently, I think one of the best examples of this was in the first Wonder Woman film after they celebrated the victory of the town
This is exactly why I started writing my own novels. I got sick of seeing shallow "romance", porn and independent female leads that could physically outfight any man (while making every man look dumb) in every single young adult book I picked up. I just wanted a good clean adventure that had none of those things.

To be fair to romance authors, I love reading adult romance books and most of the ones that are popular on Booktok with women specifically always feature men who take charge and are the "dominant" (for lack of a better word) ones in the relationship. I've noticed that the feminist movement has invaded the fantasy genre and that really sucks, there are so many new female characters in young adult books that are really rubbing me the wrong way (*cough* Piper from The Heroes of Olympus *cough*).

As a grandma, I am looking forward to DW's Snow White. I hope they do many more. I am enjoying Runes and hope they come out with more shows like that. A fun family sitcom would be nice too! I miss those.

there isn't a possible way for this movie to not be a flop. Between the fact that they already 200$ million (prior to marketing, reshoots, and theatre cut ) then you add in the fact that they are replacing the californian hobos with cgi dwarf abominations which will probably cost disney another $100 million knowing their poor track record when it comes to spending money on something that realistically shouldn't cost that much but still does somehow. The marketing for the film will probably be another 100-200$ million meaning that the total budget for this thing once everything is said & done could be anywhere between the 400-500 million range.
In my own fantasies, I was seeing a theatrical release of the Bentkey Snow White (starring Brett Cooper) and the Disney "Snow White" with Rachel Zegler happening at the same time. I wanted to see the Daily Wire beat Disney with the "same" movie, **using Walt Disney's own strategy** for its Bentkey startup, which is to risk **everything** on a beautifully portrayed Snow White. I doubt DW will do a theatrical distribution, but I can dream.

Hey Michael, in 2020 I started watching KDrama...I couldn't stop...the addiction was the simple clean, funny storylines...I had become so disenchanted, frankly put off by American TV.. it was too dark, too gritty, too sexual, and always left you feeling nothing, sick or just hopeless. There's a whole world of people turning to these kdramas, I see more and more people watching it. I think the turn to this has got more to do with general cleaner storylines, sweetest romance, and that in general good does triumph over evil . There's something to their formula that makes you wanna watch more.
I didn't start watching kdrama, but I did start watching Turkish soap operas. I started watching Turkish soap operas for the same reason. They're not over sexualized, and there aren't extra agendas
I agree with this. The number of k drama I've watched this year is alarming. It's my comfort place. Even when it's romance it always shows that love and good triumph. And yes it's not sexualized. In fact it's more conservative. And you see full on commitments and not hook up culture

I'm a millennial (1989) and I've been saying that forever! We don't need sex scenes in movies especially in non romance films! They shove one in there so they can make the movie R rated. I agree, skip the sex scenes in shows. 3 years ago when I had cable tv, I liked The Hallmark channels because they didn’t have making out scenes or over night hook ups BUT THEN. . . they started adding same sex dating characters. That’s when I turned off the channel and got rid of cable tv. I don’t even use my tv anymore except for the occasional dvd or TH-cam. Our society is falling apart because we are craving authenticity, truth and real human connection, wholesome, decent relationships.

As an _”older”_ Millennial, I’ve never been comfortable watching sex scenes. It’s just such a private thing that they can easily allude to without actually showing nude “actors/actresses” (whom are not even married in _real_ life) touching each other, and “climaxing” on screen. I mean, movies/shows rarely film actual toilets, or someone using the bathroom…because it’s private and like with sex, something that can easily be alluded to without actually having to witness it in order to continue to comprehend the storyline. 😏

As a person who just turned 19, I detest the propaganda in pretty much all TV today. It ruined some of my childhood shows and movie series (e.g. Star Wars and Young Justice).
I’ve watched Conservative podcasts and shows since I was 12 and I was baptized and confirmed at an Anglican Orthodox Church. I was never any form of Left-wing, which funnily enough resulted in me getting verbally abused by many of my peers. But I never changed my beliefs. I’m glad I didn’t, because overtime many of my peers and friends converted to conservatism and some form of actually zealous Christianity.
Basically logic, love, and purpose win over dumb, confused, and irrational.
As a filmmaker I am told to be more diverse or not get funded- well I am funding my own stuff now- I am not putting token people of race or sex or orientation in my films to please a minority- my films should be for MORE people

To make it for kids is a cop out excuse when it bombs - "well we made it for kids" and the reason it bombed and people did not like it - you because you are an adult. Also when the Disney classic was released and re-leased in theaters, the witch scared children and it was frowned upon by parents! Try doing some research!
