I purchased a bag of clear glass cabochons recently from one of our local dollar stores and my original plan was to glue some funky paper to the backs of them, but now you've inspired me to try this marbeling technique! Thanks! I may make magnets out of some, and wire-wrap others for jewelry. What a great tutorial - the black polish in the back really made the marbeling 'pop' - it almost gives them a cosmic-like effect 😊
Love this way you use the nail polish in water, The directions I had were to paint the nail polish directly on the stones, but I could never make them look the way I wanted them to look. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for making it so much easier and now I can do it! Awesome video.
I havent read all your comments but was wondering , do you put a clear coat on top of the glass cabs? I tried it and it came out really nice, brought out the colors. Just in case thought i would mention it.
thanks for this great idea. how do you attach the finished stone to the ring? what glue did you use? What makes the nail polish bond tight enough to the ring bale that it doesn't tear apart later? OR do you have another video that shows all the above? With this new youtube format, not all the videos show up & hard to go back through them to find a particular video.
Hi Paulina - If yo watch my latest video - the Owl Artwork Pendant you can see I just glue a jewelry bail to it and you could do the same thing with the glass stones and you can apply a ring blank the same way. Thanks for subscribing! I'm glad you like my crafts! Mona
I thought you said you put a clear coat of nail polish on bottom before putting the colors…also where do u get the nail polish. Very cool look. Thanks!
The way I hold my stones is to use reusable poster putty globbed on the end of a toothpick or bamboo skewer and the stick it to the top of the stone to dip it....works for me.
try pouring little puddles of different colord paint around eachother on a paper plate and then swirl it with a toothpik just as u would do the marble art in the water it works great
Hi, where do you buy your glass stones? All I can seem to find online is the perfectly round thinner glass stones. I want the fat misshapen slightly ones. Thanks
These look SO good, but I'm having a problem with my polish drying before I can swirl it (no matter how fast I get to the swirling part!) The polish I'm using it not the fast dry polish either. Also (on the few I did do some spots on the polish on the stone bubbles up or got really thick) Any suggestions?
If you build up the bulls eye like you would to actually water marble your nails, you can make really pretty, intricate designs that will show through the glass. I've made some with a flower design, some of lines, swirls, points, petals - all kinds of designs. It helps if you use a smaller cup, room temperature water, and find polish that will spread in the water pretty well. that way you have circles inside of circles of color to mess with rather than random dots all across the top. Its really fun and the pieces turn out so beautiful and unique!
The marbling is put onto the back side of the stone (the flat side), she just put a clear topcoat on the back of the stone before, then after she put the marble on she painted a background color to fill in any gaps
for lapidary you stick a cabochon blank on a small dowel with sealing wax. Then you can grind, sand, polish with a nice handle. That might work here too instead of pliers.
Hi craftKlach! Its Paulina, and i would like you to to be inspired by me to make another video! I maybe want you to make it be based on how to apply the ring; (from you're previous video) or how to make it a necklace, small-sized earings or maybe even a bracelet! I love the awsome glass stones and how u made it interesting! I sure will subscribe =D!!! Keep up the AWSOME crafts!
Awesome tutorial. I was wondering, I bought a bag of these stones but many of them either have small dings on the surface or a finish that is sort of reminiscent of gasolene residue in water puddles. Is there any way to remove those or are the affected gems pretty much useless?
+belad0nna Wipe them down with rubbing alcohol to clean them. I don't think the residue will effect it, if it's still there after you clean it. If there are small surface dings, it shouldn't matter, but if they are big, it might.
If you go to aliexpress.com and search glass cabochons the stones are perfect circles and I've never found one with any dings on it. They do free shipping to USA not sure about other countries though
Hi there.. love your video's... and really love this Idea.. I tried this and the results are great,,,,, but I noticed that some of my creations, have like little water bubbles, that eventually pop and then it makes a hole in my nail polish... any ideas on what I am doing wrong?????? thanks Nancy
i know this video is older but a tip when water marbeling, i refrigerate water for a couple hours before marbeling and it helps the paint to actually spread out more evenly
I've tried and had some great success but sometimes the nail polish sinks to the bottom of the cup of water. Do you know why? Also, I've painted other colors on the back that kinda matched the colors on the stone. It worked well!I've done paper beads and this is a new fun craft! Thanks!
If you want your design to open (spread) rather than sit on surface you should condition your water (Borax works great). Also use room temp water. Warm/hot water= paint dries too fast and it will stick to the tool when distorting the paint drops. Your paint will only open if you allow it enough room. Using a drinking cup, the h2o surface circumference is very small, your pattern will be tight. More than 4, MAYBE 5 drops will not open/spread easily. Gently blow paint w/ drink straw to help spread
Just a suggestion. I used masking tape or you could try painters tape on the top surface that you want left clean and attached a loop of tape to that to hold it.
I love the idea! Just a tip, though. The polish colors you were using were not good for marbling. If you use ones that spread over the water better you can get some really great results.
hi can I suggest you use blue tack and pencil to stick the glass on like a suckered pad..then dip glass in your Polish design and stand pencil in a glass to dry...put your tools down girlie.
+Luz Valdivieso there are pendent settings I've seen these stones set in but most people add a strong round magnet on the backs. I've used plain glass stones in my Fairy Garden, but these marbled ones will be amazing!

Hi Vicki - I normally don't on the glass stone, but I do on the resin. I'll have to try it on the glass ones too. Thanks for the tip. Mona
Thank you so much for saying that! I love that you are watching them!

You are very welcome. Thanks for the great idea!

do you put the marble on the front or the back of the stone? and if so is the solid black color painted over the marble? i got confused

LOVE it, I was just wondering, could you use glitter nail polish, or would that not be suitable.
The way I hold my stones is to use reusable poster putty globbed on the end of a toothpick or bamboo skewer and the stick it to the top of the stone to dip it....works for me.
I love these ideas! I have been wanting to do your ideas for so long and finally got the tools for it! Thanks so much! I am having so much fun!
Great idea!!! Thanks!
Thank you! I was doing it the opposite way! Painting the metal base, then gluing the glass! Kept messing up my designs! Thanks!
I love all your videos. You have such a creative personality
Thank you
Love your videos direct to the point , simple & inspiring ❤️
I love the one that looks like the moon & earth combined. Brilliant!

If you have a Dollar Tree by you, give that a shot.
looks so cool where do you get the stones
I really love it and I absolutely have to give us a try thank you for taking time to show us
+Della Archuleta Thank you Della!

To dip the stone use a kids dart suction cup arrow

GreenwithEnvyx Thanks for the tips!
Now I know what to do with all my nail polishes that are sitting on my dresser. Thank you for such a great idea! Here's to "Pet Rocks". : )
My 7 yr old says that these look REALLY COOL!
did you use the sinful colours professional nail polish's? x
What a fab idea will try this thank you for sharing
Yeah, it kind of does!
Very nice! Where do you find the large glass stones from?
I'm so glad you have the tools and are having fun!! Thanks for watching!!
Not sure what you were asking.
Thank you!
Do you think the small stones are too heavy for earrings?
The marbling is put onto the back side of the stone (the flat side), she just put a clear topcoat on the back of the stone before, then after she put the marble on she painted a background color to fill in any gaps
Thank you so much!
Thanks!
You could make a tape tab/handle to put on top of stone for better control.
for lapidary you stick a cabochon blank on a small dowel with sealing wax. Then you can grind, sand, polish with a nice handle. That might work here too instead of pliers.

They are beautiful!
Very cool way to use the bottom of a bottle of polish.
So pretty! I love your videos!
I love it! I will definitely be making these.
Great way to use up old polish

Same happened to all my glass stones, I hope some one can give an adivice...
i know this video is older but a tip when water marbeling, i refrigerate water for a couple hours before marbeling and it helps the paint to actually spread out more evenly
Pencil or bamboo skewer plus modeling clay. no need for hard to hold pliers.
What do You make w/them after you're done? Would You wire wrap the glass cabochons? How would You make them into pendants?
Thanks for actually doing this!!!!
Does anybody know how to get rid of the silver shimmer on clear cabochons/glass gemstones/glasspebbles?? As you can't see through them very clearly
I've tried and had some great success but sometimes the nail polish sinks to the bottom of the cup of water. Do you know why? Also, I've painted other colors on the back that kinda matched the colors on the stone. It worked well!I've done paper beads and this is a new fun craft! Thanks!
+Connie Swann It could be the temperature of the water, or if they nail polish is thicker. I'm never sure why! Great idea for the paper beads too!
how do u make the glass stones
spraycanann could you tell us the proportion of the borax to the water, please? How much borax to how much water? thanks
If you want your design to open (spread) rather than sit on surface you should condition your water (Borax works great). Also use room temp water. the second one looks like a galaxy print, it reminds me of the galaxy marble from men in black
Very nice. Thank you for the tutorial.
+Patricia DelMercado Thanks for watching Patricia!
Very good, clumsy mind
My polish spreads out too much when l stir it with a toothpick all the polish sticks to it
what does the water have
Just a suggestion. I used masking tape or you could try painters tape on the top surface that you want left clean and attached a loop of tape to that to hold it.

If you use room temperature water the varnish will marble better.
How do u change the pic of with. The video is
I love the idea! Just a tip, though. The polish colors you were using were not good for marbling. If you use ones that spread over the water better you can get some really great results.
I love it simple and relaxing activity ❤️
how can ı buy this glass stones ? how can ı find this glass stones?
+Tezcan Can I'm not sure where you are located, but you can find them at craft stores and sometimes at dollar stores. Look in the floral department.
Found them in my Dollar Tree... $1. Big, small and round.
DOLLAR TREE IS AWESOME TO FIND SIMPLE CRAFT IDEAS.
Hi can you tell me the stones terms measured, thanks
All kinds of tongs you can use and keep only for crafting :)
True!
Lol you made most things fall. But great video!!
Just a point on water marbling your water was too cold hence why it didn't spread :) try room temp water for the next time
Makayla Hoehn
DOWN below says the opposite!
sticky tack on the top of the stone with a stick to hold
Beautiful!
it might be worth while using scotch tape on the glass marbles ibstead of plyers...
the last rock you showed looks like a galaxey
Cool video!
Love them
Also don't hold the nail polish brush to high up, because the polish sinks to the bottom
awesome!!!
hi can I suggest you use blue tack and pencil to stick the glass on like a suckered pad..then dip glass in your Polish design and stand pencil in a glass to dry...put your tools down girlie.
Great idea!
Cool❤
Awesome
Thank you!
what do you use this for :[
+Luz Valdivieso there are pendent settings I've seen these stones set in but most people add a strong round magnet on the backs. I've used plain glass stones in my Fairy Garden, but these marbled ones will be amazing!
Loved the vidieo.
Needle nose pliers don't weigh as much.
love it!
