from being in a boarding school myself, you shouldn't put your stuff in the shower (unless there are multiple, shelfs) for me there weren't I was in the same situation as you, were it was me and my roommate (who I didn't know before), so I just moved my shower stuff in the bathroom when I would shower. (obviously if there are multiple shelfs thats different but for me their was only one shelf in the shower).
She's only with one other girl and they both have their own bathroom
So is your family from Switzerland with your boarding school there as your accent sounds British
