  • I met two big Manchester United-legends in Jimmy Greenhoff and Stuart Pearson when they visited the MUST-office in Sir Matt Busby Way. They signed kits and pictures from the 1977 Fa Cup final win against the Treble chasing Liverpool.
This is their memomry of that Cup Final day!

The joy you brought to a 13 year old kid in 1977 in Scotland that day you wouldn't believe. All the kids were straight out on the park shouting "Pearson One Nil" after each shot on goal. Most wanted anyone but Liverpool to win, as they had been winning so much in that era. Brilliant memories....Thank you Stuart & Jimmy ❤

stuart pearson was always a big game player. the bigger the match the better he played.espcially if its at Wembley. remember him at west ham in league games looked quite ordinary once west ham got to the fa cup final in 1980 he was unstoppable.

I idolised these two; used to do Brian Moore's commentary to Stuart's goal against Liverpool whilst re-creating it with a tennis ball in the lounge ("...flicked on by Greenhoff... shot-goal!").

Stuart ! what wonderful memories you bring to me , what a MAN UTD was that ! In ITALY we had only chances to see you on black and white tv on the switzerland tv canal on sunday night sport news and it was only of a couple of highlights per game of the english league , also i could i forget when you came here to play Juventus in 1976 /77, the result was dreadful but that wasnt important for me at all !

Same pal. Happiest days of my life watching United when at every game people were spilling out of stadiums everywhere we went 👍 I think some of the jealousy towards United came from those times when other club's fans knew that their team just couldn't muster the kind of vast support United enjoyed! Two terrific players.Injury ruined Pancho’s career, and how Jimmy Greenhoff never got a FULL cap for England, I will never know.

@@daviddraper5485 The surprise for me David is that Don Revie knew Jimmy Greenhoff from his time at Leeds United as he was his manager there in the 60s, and Revie was handing out caps like confetti when he became England manager in the 70s, so he knew what Greenhoff could do.Colin ‘NIJINSKY’ Bell was a top player.I think his son is handing out the Premier league trophy to Fernandinho and Aguero today.

Question. ? Yes, Age has taken its toll but how many of us have experienced
that one supreme moment ( 1977 ) that gifts us immorality . ?
Stuart and Jimmy . You shall be forever young .

Great players indeed! Re Stuart Pearson - does anyone remember why he left United? This was about 1979, certainly before the Cup final that year. I heard - don't know if it's true - that he'd fallen out with the club for some reason. Can anyone comment?

Injured for most of 79, maybe Utd decided to cash him and get him off the wage bill

"We may have great men but we'll never know better..." ... that's a line borrowed from an Irish rebel song. Thanks, lads. I've never felt as strongly about/for a team as I did for them.

Shame the interview wasn't up to much. Why the nickname Pancho? Why the raised fist celebration? Why no England cap Jimmy? What was it like playing with your brother? Oh well.

United history: in the late 1950s, early 1960s, we had Mark 'Pancho' Pearson, probably nicknamed for his hair style.
