Top 4 reasons I only stack Platinum:
    1) Platinum's incredibly high density cannot be faked with cheaper materials like Gold plated Tungsten.
    3) Gold needs to be alloyed to make coins which don't scratch easily, while pure Platinum is the most robust material in the periodic table.
    3) Silver quickly turns to black tarnish like a trash metal, while Platinum can be safely stored in acid coming from the end of the reactivity series.
    4) Only a handful of elements are more rare than Platinum, but sadly APMEX doesn't sell Osmium and Iridium.

Your right about platinum only one problem with it is it looks kind of dull. Have a platinum Britannia coin it shines most other platinum coins don't. platinum coin mintages are very low . Wonder why even prices on low mintage platinum coins stays so low?

Platinum definitely scratches just as easily. The difference is that the metal will stay on the coin rather than flaking off.

      1) Fakes are easily detected with a handful of readily-available tools, and rare when purchasing from reputable sources that guarantee their products. 2) I don’t know a single person who would like to alloy their .9999 gold to make it more wear-resistant. 3) Silver turns black only under the harshest environmental conditions or the most severe handling neglect. 4) If density is what you’re after, stack lead… it’s heavier than gold and platinum.

@@slapdat.bytemeon your last point, there's so much lead available, and very little platinum. People want what they can't have.

Platinum is grossly undervalued right now. Historically it's averaged about 50% higher than gold. Right now platinum is half the cost of gold. Palladium has replaced platinum for many industrial uses, and the price of palladium has since gone up to reflect the higher demand; $700 oz couple years ago, to about $1500 at the moment, or 50% higher than platinum which is under $1000 oz. The spreads on buying/selling platinum, and palladium for that matter, are traditionally wider than gold or silver, with dealers and refiners paying a lower percentage when you sell, and charging a higher percentage when you buy, and that should be taken in to consideration, and the main reason for this is because of the lack of popularity; dealers will sell 1000 oz of gold and 100,000 oz of silver for every 1 oz of platinum, and the volatility of the price as well. But I believe the low price of platinum should attract investors, and the fact that demand for gold and silver has outweighed supply and pushed premiums up quite a bit, in many cases on par with the traditionally high premiums on platinum. If you're in the market for physical gold and/or silver, consider at least some platinum as well.

How liquid is platinum? It's easy to buy, Apmex sells it. What do you pay if I need to sell it back? Basically, what is the bid/ask spread? If it doesn't compare with gold then I'm not "overlooking" it but I'm probably not buying it.

It probably falls into "industrial" which is commonly how plat is discussed (and jewelry) but I recently learned from another channel how much plat is actually used in medical applications.

Speaking of Palladium, now that palladium has come down into a buy range for the speculative regular household buyer, are you getting some palladium maples in or some other low premium 1 oz palladium product? It hasn't been cheaper since 2019, but all you have are those super high premium 1g Valcambis and Palladium Eagles.

Sadly, most of thee in-stock Palladium in the bullion shops was purchased while at a higher spot, and they can't lose money on it. Good deals are rare, but I keep looking anyway.
