    Is anyone else curious that these homes being built in western Pennsylvania were all dreamed about, planned and contracted over a year ago? I would imagine some things have changed a bit in the last nine months as far as employment, business opportunities etc. in Pennsylvania as well as a lot of states. We will see how this all turns out. A lot of Beverly Hills homes being built in parts of this country that were never thought about being built in the locations they are being built. Oh well took us about 12 years to recover fro 2008. We can do it again hopefully.

    I would pump it too. If you can afford to build a basketball court in your house you can afford to pay for a pump.

    When you need a pump, you NEED a pump. Also, there is no comparison between the boom and a skid pumps. So much cleaner and less labor intensive with a boom. Special skills for the guys not using screed rails, too. Nice job!

    Nice pour. We had a pump truck for our house as well just because of the span of it all. It is interesting the support beams went in before the floor. That for me was interesting to watch. There isn't a whole lot keeping them in place. Seemed like a balancing act to place them before they were secured somewhat.

    Well that brought back memories. 1991 built a cancer treatment center in Wilkes-Barre PA. Walls were also 18’ high and most of the walls were 2’ thick and where the radiation gun was 4’ thick walls with a concrete ceiling. Had to get a special high density aggregate from North Carolina for the 4’ walls. Quite the experience.

    • @frotobaggins7169
      @frotobaggins7169 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wow. That aggregate must have been wicked expensive. I worked at a nuclear plant, the containment vessel had 4' thick walls. That was inside another structure called a D ring which was also 4' thick. that was all inside the containment building that was also 4' thick, lined with 1/2" steel and painted with lead. Kinda crazy when radiation is involved.

    the reason the air cuff is there is not to stop annoying "drips" it is to eliminate air pockets in the line . Remember air compresses so when the next bit of concrete is pumped up against that air pocket it creates line surge. that dangerous surge has injured and killed MANY concrete personell . you do not want air in the line .

    Just curious! Why no trialing machine? I guess the finish doesn't matter as much being that there will be a floor laid Overton of concrete. We use trialing machine on all slick finish floors. Just wandering what your reason was?

    When pumping concrete how do you account for all the concrete it takes to fill the hose? That has to be a lot of concrete. Does all of that go to waste when they clean out the pump lines?

    • @curtisgraf2243
      @curtisgraf2243 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That 33 meter pump holds 1/2-5/8 cubic yard of concrete between the 5" diameter pump line and a mostly full hopper. We typically request an extra yard to cover the prime out and the material in the system.

    • @frotobaggins7169

    Steve, you should consider (with dad's permission) putting anything construction related on this channel (that you are planning in the future on your land) rather than on your own channel. I'm just thinking that far in advance - why grow two channels when you can get the bigger revenue from this channel - and maybe this will be your channel someday? Even if it isn't going to be yours I'm sure you can figure out the revenue sharing.

      Concrete is hard on your body I’m 33 so I’m still young now by the time I’m 50 I would like to know I have a crew that can do 95% of the work and I can save my body for grand kids later in life.. concrete is very profitable for me I rather pay my guys very well and make a decent margin for the company but we do complete work excavating foundation flatwork on a job like this I’m maybe 8 ft walls max so my hats are off for 18 ft.
      Most of my profit is on excavating/dirt work and foundations
      Now paving on the other that’s low profits between trucks crew and mix prices most you can make In the commercial/residential is 20% at best paving for 2.00 a sq ft - 4.5 sq ft including prep work
