I’ve only ever seen your shorts asking street trivia but I am absolutely in love with the longer form videos that really explores NYC little known things. I hope you guys do more stuff like this not even just with government but landmarks & such. Show the people the move the gears behind NYC!

311 sounds amazing. I tried to reach out to my city’s government about an issue in my neighborhood and got ping ponged so hard by people telling me that issue was handled by another agency until I eventually gave up

It’s amazing how much grief NYC gets online (via rhetoric), but this shows the real story. I unfortunately live in an anti-government city/county/state and around here, people literally fix their own residential street potholes because it takes the city months if not years. 1/3 of our city didn’t even have paved roads until around three years ago even though we have a population greater than 120,000 people.

Another FASCINATING video Public Opinion! You take me directly to places and people responsible for making NYC the greatest city in the world. Loved learning from Evette how the 311 call center works, what kinds of calls come in, and seeing the DOT guys repair the pothole that you called in. Keep 'em coming!

As a New Yorker, I have to agree that our city hones us into being capable of making it anywhere. I travel all over the planet and I never feel out of sorts, whether in the Amazon jungle, the lochs of Scotland or the South-East cities of Australia. NYC can be rough, yes, but it has surely readied me for anything. No matter how unexpected, nothing else feels quite a daunting as a regular Friday in NYC 😂.

311, and the transfer to DOT that ensued, has never dealt with traffic signals when I've reported them broken. they've sometimes worked to make department of sanitation pick up trash that they were too lazy to deal with when they were supposed to. they're like a 60% - 70% effective help line.

Maybe, if they would repair the pothole correctly, instead of just putting a little asphalt on it, they wouldnt have to "repair" 185000 of them every year.
With that manpower they show up to just fill up a pothole, they repair the pothole here in Germany, meaning they cut out the damaged part of the road and fix the foundation too. To just fill up a pothole they come with one car and 2 men and surely dont close the road for a day.

Hey my dudes, I think it would be cool to see stories from New York streets just people willing to tell you a story about their lives how they ended up in New York how they’re currently doing how they’ve overcome certain struggles, etc. the whole point of your show is people of New York, love the people of New York, so let’s get to know the stories

311 is useless called over 3 years about loud music from loud speakers from the local park nothing was ever done. Nice infomercial though did Steven Spielberg direct this with a Hollywood screenplay because this seems like fantasy and sci-fi.

They treat every call as if you are a five-year-old calling for the first time.
No, I don't want to listen to two minutes of unskippable recordings and then have an operator read five paragraphs of lawyer vomit. I just want you to take down the problem details. A 30-second call takes five minutes.
