  • Another of the hares seen one early evening a couple of weeks ago. The birdsong is the backing music in this one because it was beautiful to hear.
The blackbird makes another appearance towards the end of the video.
The heat of the day made the scenery look as if it was undulating and moving in waves! A few young hares were dashing about in the distance.

I saw a hare in France! Also a red squirrel although it was quite dark. And a young red deer. Spent the night by a small river where a pair of Moorhens were tending to just one tiny chick it was smaller than an orange! There was also a Heron catching fish

@@grimpeursdusud1533 How fantastic! I love hares. I would love to see a red squirrel too-something I have yet to see. I love moorhen chicks when they are tiny-they really scoot about! I hope the weather has been ok there in France. We have had rain all day today and it has been chilly-had to put the heating on yesterday and it’s July-usually our hottest month! Hope we get the sunshine back.

@@suebarnett-naturegazing Yes it was hot and a tailwind for days then rained most of yesterday. Spoke to some other cyclists waiting for the ferry back from Dieppe they said it had rained all the time in the North of Normandy. Have you never see a red squirrel? not even on the Isle of Wight or Brownsea Island (I have on both but admit they take some luck and patience). I've seen red squirrels 3 times now on bike rides in France. Sadly the fashion for introducing greys from North America also happened in Italy and they are decimating the red population and are now spreading through France. Not sure if they also carry squirrelpox like in the UK?
There's always the British Wildlife Centre near Lingfield but they are more like pets there!

@@grimpeursdusud1533 Ah so the rain caught up with you. It has been sunny here this afternoon but rain expected again by Friday. The British Summer as usual! 🙄😄

It’s just that I have never actually visited anywhere that has them. I have been to the IOW but didn’t know they had them there. I see great photos of all the animals at the British Wildlife Centre but it isn’t really my scene. I prefer to have the luck of seeing animals in the wild doing amazing things! 🙂

@@suebarnett-naturegazing I don't think there are any greys on the IoW; certainly none on Brownsea Island. I've seen reds right next to the ferry terminal at Fishbourne twice. Completely agree about seeing wildlife in the wild rather than in zoos etc.Although with species like Iberian Lynx you have pretty much no chance of seeing them in the wild! they are hard enough to see in captivity
