- "Your Great Adventure" by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf compares The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien to our life's journey. Accepting adventure is our story too.
In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a semi-annual 'general conference' is held in Salt Lake City, Utah. In the General Conference, leaders give talks and lectures about the gospel of Jesus Christ. In this particular talk, Elder Uchtdorf talks about adventure and gives an example from The Hobbit.

I remember watching the cartoon of the hobbit when i was in fifth grade at Monte Vista when we were in school we were also on a adventure.
There was so much to learn from this talk but I loved it because that's how I see our lives. We chose this adventure, sadly most of us forget that there was a beginning and an end to this life full of trials with a huge reward. ツ
God has given us great leaders to guide us through lives grand adventures, thank God for the Prophet

Second, they were both religious and both their series have huge Christian analogies in them (Lewis's being more obvious, Tolkien's being more hidden).
@@BoMwarrior Tolkein's, I believe, was more subtle simply because he was not aware of it. In an introduction to Fellowship of the Ring, he clearly states that he dislikes allegory in all forms, and had certaintly not put any in his works.
Of course, us writers can be blind when it comes to our own work...

It's used in creating something new (actually new, not just thrown into random order) That it does fall under fair use. Good to see someone else cares though!
