- Abhinandan Sekhri talks to #DhruvRathee, a young TH-camr, part journalist, and part activist, as he describes himself. Rathee’s videos focus on current and political issues.
Abhinandan asks Rathee about a complaint filed against him by a BJP ‘volunteer’. Was there a point when he thought it’s enough? Why is he apprehensive about returning to India and chooses not to reveal his country of residence online.
Rathee also talks about working solo, seeking experts’ help to verify facts and how mistakes still go through. Abhinandan also asks the young TH-camr about dealing with online hate, political party loyalties and why the culture of being ‘woke’ and politically correct is disruptive to good journalism.
Towards the end, Abhinandan asks Rathee, what would make him come back to India and work here, independently?

It's not that he is not biased, I have found serious falsehoods in his Demonetization video which cannot just be some error which slipped through!

For you or other people curious, the error was regarding omitting indirect/direct tax collection data post demonetization. And it wasn't a hard find - got it on the first 2 or 3 search results on google.
I am not sure that his bias is against BJP; it may be against the government per say, because it makes good news! May be it's an unconscious thing on his part.
Regarding biases in news, I think, The Print, Newslaundry, Lallantop, NDTV and Scroll are as close to unbiasedness or neutrality, as it gets, in today's world of Indian media.
Leave this shit and just watch DD news .

However, somewhere in the middle you lost it. I keep wondering about it. If nothing else, you will end up as an interesting case study. How does a Dhruv Rathee get more than a million subscribers in two years and a news organization like Newslaundry has just 1/10th of subscribers compared to him. Nikku should discuss this in the next chota hafta. Pls chota hafta mein hi karna discuss; i am a muftkhor.
He make videos on trending topics.. (usually political views, which means if you target BJP all critics of BJP will enjoy the full video because mainstream paid media couldn't address their concerns while having prejudices towards those in power)
And TH-cam algorithms helps those topics in getting more outreach if they find more people are watching the videos completely.
A video made with infographics while reading out of teleprompter means more information in less time with interesting visuals.. hence the peope are more engaged to the videos.
