My gaskets didn't seem to last as long as I expected and will leak after a short period use. I found that my portafilter basket was not polished smooth around the sealing area. I took a knife sharpening stone with a coarse and very fine polishing side and polished up the portafilter to create a larger and completely smooth sealing area. Viola! No more leaks using the old gasket.

Fascinating! This is definitely something I want to further research. Do you mind letting me know what gasket, portafilter, and basket you were using, as well as approximately how long you'd been using the gasket?

Just watched a video featuring La Spaziales "major technician" who designed this model. He just explained how the double screen prevents the need for a backflush. And only recommended rinsing the screen with hot water every three days (depending on use).
Any reason you show using detergent and backflush?

The back flushing is needed on 3 way solenoid valves,as the water with coffee goes back in through the group head. Unless the grouphead design is different, you cannot avoid a backflush cleaning.

    Is descaling needed? How often?

I'd like to know more about de scaling. Is that necessary and how do I do that?

Hey there! We actually don't recommend descaling nor have any resources on it. We recommend a professional technician perform it if you need to descale. Otherwise, we recommend using filtered and soft water immediately-the easiest preventative maintenance you can do for your machine. clivecoffee.com/blogs/learn/the-importance-of-water-and-your-espresso-machine
