Excellent video, same as always. Looking forward to seeing how much this helps with the pendulum and camera arm projects!

I enjoy your videos. Have you been using back EMF protection diodes in your motor control circuits?

Im planning on making a dyno to do real reviews on rc motors etc. I get the concept but am not looking forward to dealing with making the spreadsheet for the calcs. Do you have one of your sheets that simply has the ability to input the rpm/time info and spit out the torque graph? If so would you be willing to share it?

The hardest part is probably figuring out the moment of inertia for your flywheel, this is why it's helpful to use simple homogeneous shapes as they are easy to calculate. The math is very simple: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angular_acceleration

Ok. Fortunately the moment of intertia only needs to be done once....or twice:)

Scott, I enjoy your videos. I have need to test performance of small gas engines, so your Dyno videos were particularly interesting. I see they are from 3 years ago, but you be willing to assist me in adapting your concept to my use? I have my own machine shop for building the Dyno, so mainly need assistance in the formulas/software/electrical areas.
The engines are the size you would find on grass trimmers, chainsaws and such.
    Thanks in advance,
    Denis

Thanks for the interest. I don't have a lot of spare time right now but the basics are pretty simple. Choose a simple shape with uniform density so you can calculate the inertia. Then measure how fast you are able to accelerate that shape and . . . voila! you can determine the energy input.

      @@ScottRumschlag ok, I'll give it a shot.
