Some Thais asked me if I wanted to go fishing, When I got there I saw that they had closed the water flow in a small stream so it had formed a lake much like a dam but much smaller. They opened the hatches that held the water back and put a net in front of the hatches so the fish ended up in the net. At the same time, they walked around the edges of the lake looking for crabs. Interesting way to fish, not so much fish and not so many crabs during the hours we were there but a lot of beer and Thai whiskey
crabs will be in a future video... actually I thought crabs were only in the sea and on beaches but apparently the lakes around here have them so I learned something today and your comment has even confirmed it

@@barfines Exactly, a proper culture vlog. I hear people talking about the bugs, but never seen someone tasting and talking about the taste and texture of each bug.
I think they call it "betel nut" and they have it with a leaf, some strange paste and tobacco all mixed together and keep it between the gum and cheek... turns your spit red and prolonged use it very damaging to the lining of the mouth... gives them a buzz though... I actually tried it the other day and have a video clip to use in a future vlog
Ayup Tom, good video. When I worked in Sri Lanka, all fisherman used to use betel nut and lime. Looks like they were spitting blood everywhere. Nasty stuff, lime strips the lining of the mouth after a while and nut is highly carcinogenic. Rots their Jaws and cheeks! PS you gotta get fit, man! 👍👍
yea I wouldn't want to partake in that but most of the older women here do it, it's rare to see the men doing it they prefer cigarettes and whiskey... I think a couple of months here will see a lot of weight drop off and better health for sure
