- Writer/Director/Photographer Van Ditthavong is the founding partner and executive producer of goPOP FILMS - a creative content studio and production company. He has taught at the New York Film Academy (Los Angeles) and UCLA Extension - where he received the 2015 Outstanding Instructor of the Year honor for the Visual Arts Department. His latest project is his feature directing debut, ALL ROADS TO PEARLA (starring Alex MacNicoll, Addison Timlin, Nick Chinlund, and Dash Mihok) and produced by Red Entertainment and goPOP FILMS.

I like this guy; he's really humble and heartfelt. This attitude is such a rare thing in the arts.
I needed this. I’ve always doubted my potential to work myself into the film industry on account of the fact I hear about people who had been making films since they were 3 weeks old, while I only got interested when I was 16 and didn’t start actively making videos until I was 20. It’s great to be able to see an example exists of a possible future.
There are infinite possible ways to do any one thing. You'll figure out your own personal way to get in.
Try starting when you're 50, lol!

Thanks 🙏☕️🎩 Great question at 6:20 about being a loner or part of a group. Working alone & sculpting your vision is a beautiful thing...and then you have to share it with the whole gang, and realize you’re not done, or it’s not there yet. That’s tough. But that’s where the “song” comes alive, when the whole band gets into it, brings in unexpected twists & flourishes, and it usually makes it better. 🎩🎩🎩I also like his point about filmmaking being a bunch of art forms brought together. So, if you can’t decide whether to be a musician, or writer, or cartoonist, or...just be a filmmaker & hit all those itches with one scratch. 🕊🌎

I needed this. The amazing thing is that I'm a photographer too and I'm seeing myself in a similar way as he does in the path of photography and screenwriting. I'm been writing screenplays for two years and sometimes I'm confused and I don't feel sure about what I'm doing.

And who knows anything about that stuff when starting? If you are so passionate about it, you 99% started to writing and didnt knew nothing. I knew 0 but listening Tarantino, Scorsese and other filmmakers helped a lot. Also i had luck to meet some good people who knows filmmaking.
