The thing is I’m actually a huge fan of the prequels. I think the PT was a fantastic story even if they were kind of bad movies. Like yeah the dialogue sucked and on a micro level even the writing kind of sucks but when you step back and look at the story as a whole it was great. The rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker, the twilight of the Republic, and not to mention Palpatine is the best villain of all time. Palpatine is the devil himself. If you want some good PT stuff I HIGHLY recommend checking out The Clone Wars. The first season was hit or miss but by the end it was gold. But yeah there’s nothing redeemable about the sequels.
Meh, prequels are much better than the original trilogy as far as characters go in my opinion.
Impressive how his voice is perfectly clear after 10 years. And he can prop himself up without any struggle whatsoever.
Well they do mention his senses are heightened because of the drugs, but it's still kinda unrealistic for sure
He got a pretty wild shot of amphetamines. Doesn't explain the voice, but the rest...
This is a TV show, he is an actor. This isn't anything perfect, just a representation of a coma patient.

Carol Young surely on some level you know that you don’t know what you’re talking about, I am Canadian. We prioritize our care based on need. Not money. That’s the whooooole point. The us are the last civilized country to not offer universal healthcare. You are repeating propaganda from health insurance companies trying to keep making money. Cheers!
@Carol Young ahhh the classic "I know someone that had to wait for care, therefore it's wrong to have free healthcare at point of service" argument
So simply,
He was in a vegetative state for 10 years & been injected with some meds and boooom he rise from the land of dead within seconds and discharged within the same day.
It hurts my feelings as a doctor 😂💔
Even as someone who isnt in any medical field knows that is impossible to get discharged like that
He wasn't discharged. Cuddy gave him his clothes. And House broke the rules. I see no issue with this as a plot point to get all three bods on a road trip.
Maybe that's the natural state of things and anything less (poor outcome) is due to crappy healthcare.
First of all, a patient doesn't need to be discharged. He or she can leave whenever they want if they're competent. Second, if he was in a vegetative state for 10 years he wouldn't be able to walk.
Son is dying
Asks about steak
He was probably thinking "Damn ten years later and he doesn't have his shit together?" xD
I'm rather surprised they didn't even try for ANY realism here. A guy who's been in a "vegetative state" for ten years would have SEVERE muscle atrophy. He wouldn't be able to sit himself up in bed much less stand up on his own two feet without so much as a wobble...
also a person who hasn't spoken for ten years can't talk as easily as that
House explained that between 0:50-1:00. I don't know enough about medicine to gauge the accuracy of his explanation, but it's there
Can't they maintain your muscle mass by massages, cpm therapy and ems? So you would only lose some of your strength?
Also L-dopa doesn't even work as well as described here, basically the patient wakes up ultra groggy with a brain that may as well have parkinsons
Even with constant physio Therapy, a coma patient ( or vegetative state patient) cannot move like he just slept a single night.
I really missed the "I can outdraw you, mysterious stranger" line.

John Larroquette is one of those actors I'll watch no matter what the show is. He elevates every story with his acting skill.
I’ve currently been rewatching Night Court on Freevee and I have to say that Larroquette is probably one of my new favourite actors. He had some serious talent… for being both completely insane like he was in Night Court and can just switch over to being a more serious character in a drama show like House. Seriously underrated actor he is, I don’t understand why people don’t talk about him more often. I just finished Season 8 of Night Court when Dan was pretty much going completely insane and the body language and mannerisms Larroquette portrayed was absolutely brilliant… had me on the floor laughing so hard… but nonetheless it was brilliant. I actually forgot he was even in House until this video showed up in my recommended feed. I rewatched House a few months ago and I’m sad to say I didn’t even recognize him when I got to this episode. I hadn’t seen Night Court in almost a decade. Glad I came across this.
Anybody notice at 4:47 how the security guard walks past him twice lol
One thing I love about this episode, other than the end where House and Wilson help each other near the end with the alibi and Gabriel's suicide despite Tritter's deepening investigation, is that Cuddy kept a cool and understanding composure throughout even after figuring out that House had enabled the suicide. It's like she knows that House does things with objectively good intentions and does everything that she legally can to help him.
"Just waiting for a fairy tale kiss."
Meanwhile, Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) ends up becoming the star of Once Upon a Time :D
Comatose patient is able to stand and walk and talk immediately after waking up
Neat
Learn how to watch videos properly. House said at the start that he had been moving around in his coma and had no muscle atrophy. I spent 2 months in a medically induced coma yet I was able to walk without issue as soon as I woke up. Guess that makes me unrealistic.

I think what's fantastical about this whole scene is that there's no way someone who's been in a coma for 10 year is just able to move around that quickly.
He'll be disappointed to know Half Life 3 still hasn't come out.
Memes aside, this episode is from 2006. Ten years prior to that when he fell into a coma would be 1996. The first Half Life came out in 1998. Assuming this guy played video games he wouldn't even know what Half Life is.

I was in the hospital for three weeks, with a serious staph-a infection in my pelvis. After the second week, they had me sit up on my own strength (no back support from the bed). I got nauseous instantly, because of the blood rush, called verticalization in my language. After 10 years, that must be so severe, regardless of the drug. I lost 12 kilos in three weeks, had to learn how to walk again, in part because of the infection wrecking my pelvis, but also because my muscles were basically gone. Again, 10 years in a vegetative state will cause a brutal diminishing of muscles. So yeah, the realism is left out in this episode. Still entertaining though :).
