Thanks alot Kit! I recently took up shore jigging because of you and Junichi Numata. I have landed some uncommon species that have taken my artificial species count up to 71! You are an invaluable resource to this community. May God always keep you safe and content...
Maybe you should do a video of you fishing on a fishing pier to see your technique where you're 20 ft higher up where there's a lot more currents and wind
Just got into shore jigging , thanks! I got saltiga 20 ounce sk slow jig came with 2 assist already on bottom , should I separate one or switch both to front of jig? By the eyes? And if not , should I remove the top split ring and tie snap swivel directly to eye or tie snap swivel to split ring ? Please advise 🙏so if I don't put assist hook at top , should I get rid of that split ring the saltiga came with or tie snap to split ring with no hook there ( leave both hooks in back )?
There are specific shore jigging rods you can buy from a lot of japanese manufacturers for this type of fishing. They are quite different from "normal" long rod with a soft tip. These shore jigging rods are also good for working stickbaits by the way.
If you want pure fishing products, you have to look at the Japanes Range (buy from Japan) as the Abu Garcia sold there is totally different from what you get in the US. There are rods you can sort of use, but they don't really work the same way. Reels, you can get away with almost any model - just as long as it is light in weight and is fast enough (XG equivalent - look at the line it brings in, not the ratio). Shore jigging rods are hard to come by in the US, from "tradition" US brands.
Firstly, I don't use snaps - I like fishing with very little hardware and weak points in my system. If you put a swivel, its added weight and it doesn't really add anything to the system except for a point for toothy fish to target - snaps are potential weak points - it could open - in my whole system I only have two potential issue points - my FG and my knot to the jig.
This really depends on where you are at and what you have access to. There are a lot of models from different companies, and this also depends on your budget.
hey, how can I use a jig on shore when water is deep. I cast my jig but it just doesn't sink and it pulls the line very little. when i start reeling and giving action, jig comes to me real quick.
you need to give me more detail...like how deep is the water exactly, the size of your line, your reel, your rod...and the size , weight and type of jig you are using. your leader...what diameter/kg/lb test, how long...etc.
@@TheFishingKit I'm using daiwa new crossfire 5-14 gr, shimano fx 2000 fc with 0.06 braid. I have a short 0.27 flourocarbon leader tied to it and my jig is a 7gr fujin jig x. I think the water is around 3-4 metres deep.
@@elricofmelnibone6301 3-4m isn't deep. 7 g should 0.06mm braid isn't thin enough, it's actually quite thick about 4.5kg breaking strain, so you are not only casting quite close, but your braid is too thick for your use. look for braid that would be around 2kg breaking strain.
Hi, thank u for the video. I know u mentioned about using XG to help reeling in the slack after casting. But is XG (~90 to 100+cm per crank), HG (~80 to 90+), standard (~80) or PG (~70) more suitable for shore jigging in terms of imparting action to the jigs? I heard some saying HG is preferred to reel enough line to give the jig lively action when working it up, but not XG so that there is slack in the line (to let the jig flutter i think). PG is not good because it does not reel in enough to give action to the jig. What’s your thoughts in this? Thanks in advanced 😊 (ps: the cm per crank is just an estimate)
Lester you cant really effectively move your lure when your line isnt tight to the lure. It will take fewer winds with an xg to come tight than with an HG, will take forever to recover line with a PG. dont take what you see with your eyes as just the amount of slack you need to recover. Braid floats so you still have a lot of slack in the water between the surface and the jig . Unless that gets recovered as well your jig wont move. Having said that, it doesnt mean you cant effectively jig with an HG, you can - biggest difference is you maintain contact with your jig more with an xg than with an HG. As I said in the video, you are dealing with long casts with shore jigging - you need a reel to be able to get the lure in fast so you can get your lure out again faster, you just have efficiency on your side with an xg then with an hg.
Thanks for the video. What is the location? At least country please, cause it looks like freshwater fishing. Not typical what I used to see on TH-cam (my saltwater experience level - beginner)
Normally i don’t jig that fast, u will find slowly jigging works the same and won’t cause fatigue, unless it is very snaggy and it is a fast sinking jig.
@@TheFishingKit you have a FC to braid knot inside your reel while you are casting, well thats interesting. Every single soul i know would swear it would tangle and create frustrations, which knot are you using so it doesnt tangle. My leader is long enough just so it doesnt enter the reel

Hello master po, which pe line recomend for 10-20g jig casting.
depending on your skill and the fish you want to catch PE 0.4-0.8
Thank you and hope the move is going smoothly @TheFishingKit
I really enjoyed this. Couldn't ask for a better ending.
My mom could not agree more, she asked for a part of it to make soup with. LOL
Im using Duo jigs and i caught lots of fish on 15g jigs.. slow action jig.. kingfish ..baracuda ..queen and Flathead
Nice. keep going!
Can we use jig as normal spoon ?
@@neconrai9130 depends on the type of jig

We don't have that sort of thing here. the closest is when we fish off jetties, but then we can get close to the water as well.
What type of knot u utilise for braid to leader? Thanks
FG knot
Thanks for the lessons. Are the jigging actions the same with jigpara slow?
not really the same - the Jigpara slow's action is when it falls...so you concentrate on the jig falling.
What is the braided fishing line that is your favorite
I like braid from Momoi and YGK - they have their own factories and make some of the best braid in the world.
