      I dunno. Clint's look at 0:35 takes my vote. I can't tell if it's good acting or no acting, but I tend to think the latter.

    Every scene in this movie is inventive and interesting. It's a great lesson in being imaginative and open ideas. The point of the scene is for Eastwood to learn who the mysterious cowboy in black is. That could be achieved in a million different ways yet they chose to build a specific set and have a crazy old man talk about trains. What could have been a dry exchange of information became this memorable and funny scene, with nothing in the plot pointing towards it being this way.

    • @scottknode898
      @scottknode898 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The Old man was played by character actor Joesph Egger his character is known as The Old Prophet who tells Clints character Manco about Colonel Mortimer. The Prophet in a way is like someone who knows things about everybody, Manco uses him to find out information. Joseph Egger is a character actor and his role was small supporting role. The actor died in 1966 after this movie was released . Clint Eastwood is the lead actor

    • @scottknode898
      @scottknode898 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The man with no name or Manco as he is called played by Clint Eastwood is the star of the movie and is Bounty Hunter who gets paid to track murderers and rapists and turns them in or kills them for a reward as did that back in old West in real life in 1800s

      If you're going to ~complain, ~satirizing it *as you're doing it,* is a great way to go. And, this is a phenomenal choice to base what is effectively a sort of self-satirization around.
      Something simple like this suggests a lot, to me / IMO, about you and your wife and your marriage. Much more than "grand" gestures, fancy material objects, etc. Kudos and best wishes to you both!

    2:28 *biggest AH HA moment in the film!!!* 2:52 *this scene kinda grabbed ya, too! didn't totally understand what the old geiser was trying to say about trains "reducing" gunfighters to bounty killers, tho.....maybe someone can elaborate??*

    • @garrghhh
      @garrghhh 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He's talking about _soldiers_ being "reduced" to being "bounty killers".
      On the one hand, it's not clear that there is a difference between, say, "soldier", "mercenary", "bounty killer", etc., defined _purely_ in those terms, at least. On the other hand, _traditionally,_ an occupation like "soldier" is often considered honorable, "noble", respectable, etc., by many who would (tend to) consider similar occupations defined more directly / purely by economic considerations to be far less respectable (or even 'base' or 'vulgar' or etc.).
      I would say that there is a tendency towards attracting more 'disreputable' people and towards more dishonorable, destructive, corrupt, sometimes even monstrous, and almost always ultimately _stupid_ (in the sense defined by the economist Carlo Cipolla) behavior whenever _any_ ('work') activity is based excessively on "economic" considerations - particularly, the more simply and self-servingly such considerations are factored into motivation. I.e., if I were to base my "economic" activities solely on $ (say) in my wallet after some event vs. before ("net personal $"), then I open the door to _doing anything_ that strikes my mind as being likely to result in some positive (personal) net outcome - some net gain. E.g., I might kill another person just to take any money they happen to have in their wallet (and, I might not even take anything else ... very "wasteful" on top of it). Even a gain of $5, say, might be considered "success".
      Anyway, obviously there are specifics I'm omitting to focus on the simplest (generally quite impractical, currently) example(s) getting at the fundamentals of the underlying philosophy / philosophical problems with certain potential "value systems" related to the differences, both in theory (views of people, generally) and practice (actual harms to individuals, groups, etc.), between some of these occupations based around killing.
      In reality and historically, I'd personally suggest that terms like "soldier" and "mercenary" are _at best_ proxies for "virtuous" vs. "vicious" behavior. And, further, that even "virtuous" vs. "vicious" is at _least_ a spectrum and often dependent on perspective as well. That isn't to say there aren't plenty of quite egregious _clear_ violations of some of the most fundamental principles any _human_ (to be considered as such) should adhere to - particularly the "Golden Rule". But, there are far more scenarios where things are far more "gray" (subject to perspective, lying on some spectrum or within some spectra, etc.) - something that these movies tended to excel at portraying, in particular.
