- In today’s episode of the Part Filipino Podcast, I’m taking DNA tests to see how Filipino I actually am. The tests are from Ancestry.com and MyHeritage.com.
I will discuss:
The Ancestry.com testing experience.
The MyHeritage DNA kit testing experience.
My DNA results from Ancestry.com.
My DNA results from MyHeritage.
A comparison of the results.

I can see your smile of relief after you totaled your DNA and got 50%. Indeed you are a Filipino no matter the percentage. What's important is you have the traits of Filipinos of being compassionate, hospitable and proud a Filipino. Mabuhay ka! 🇵🇭
Congratulations, brother!
Although it doesn't matter what you are made of. It matters you acknowledge your cultural heritage. IMO
No
Congratulation and mabuhay ka kapatid !
Congratulations..! I can see you are so happy with the result..😊🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes, your Filipino side comes out & you were right to group all of Asian categories into one. And this new (early Oct) North & Central Philippines + Luzon (by itself) is interesting. I'm glad that my Western Philippines finally went away and just came out as Central & Southern Philippines which matched all of my other half Filipino cousins. No surprise that you had some Chinese actually show up and have that known in your genealogical tree. It's always cool to see DNA align with your genealogical tree. MyHeritage has never updated their ethnicity categories since they first released their DNA tests back in 2016 or 2017? I can't remember when it came out. With Ancestry, they've been updating it yearly since 2018 and I tested back in 2014 because of this new "Polynesia" category that they came out with and I heard of Filipinos getting some of it in their results and knew what was happening. Of course now Filipinos do not show any "Polynesia" in their results because now there is a specific Filipino category, or rather today it has updated to include 4 regions: 1. Northern & Central Philippines, 2. Central & Southern Philippines, 3. Luzon, & 4. Western Visayas. Compared to MyHeritage's "Filipino, Indonesian & Malay" category.
Congrats, dude!
You have the semblance of Indian features indeed! Interesting results.
My filipino connection as far as we can reach back was my maternal great grandmother who was supposed to be 50/50 filipino - spanish. Gramma would be 25%, mom would be 12.5%. Dad was Portuguese/chinese lineage. That means i should be around 6%, but born in the Philippines and a filipino in heart and soul.
I'm mixed also. 50% Korea, 20% White euro, 25% West African, 5% Native American according to Ancestry.
I look like a guapo Pinoy with muscles. I also go to S. America and blend in there. I have also been misidentified as a Mexican, Thai, middle eastern. I have an Indian friend, he says I look like I'm from India. I think I blend in with Non-white populations.
Your Viking blood emerged mixing with Lapu-lapu and Li Ma Hong.
My mom's filipino brasileiro and my dad's russian-swedish/norwegian-american. Im interested to have my dna analyzed too!
Cool results. Your results are interesting as half filipino.
Thank you! 😊
Wow ang saya naman!
You are welcome, brother...
Congrats...
I had a sense of relief when mine added up to exactly 50% as well! Haha
Before I saw the results I was like, “what if I’ve been living a lie this whole time?!”
That Filipino knife.was really cool
Your smile!
Congrats
oh i miss those
Yes kabayan, you are 100% correct that the Philippines is the first country to be considered as the melting pot of all races in the world.
Because in our history our country is the center of commerce of Asia, South East Asia, Europe and Middle East countries.
REAL TALK... 25 FIL.
Hope you are happy and proud that you are with Filipino heritage my respect to you but i don't have that respect on some people that are not proud of their Filipino heritage. Some of them are hollywood actress.
I am 5% chinese,5% spanish , 5% pilipino and 85% alcohol because they are all drinkers
🤣
so does anyone know which one has more reliable results????
That’s a good question. I wish I knew the answer…
Ancestry is generally more accurate when it comes to dna testing
No more stock of Choc Nut in stores and supermarket.
I’m half Filipino half vampire…your cat turned me😬
Ha ha. She is a very mischievous cat!
That netflix anime is Trese(13)
I found out that I’m 1 % Spanish and 1 % Italian. My family are from Cebu,Leyte and Masbate.
that's not significant for you had lesser than 5%
@ just saying . Just tells me that my ancestors who came to the Philippines were Italian and Spanish descent; and it’s significant to me as a whole person. Thank You Very Much.
Not really; if it's 1%, it most likely means one of your ancestors was probably a Mexican mestizo that Spain took to the Philippines because 1% is so small that it's either overlapping or your ancestor was mestizo, and since less than 2% of Filipinos have Spanish ancestry, he married a pure Asian, unlike here in Latin America where 70-80% have some European ancestry, so when people get married, the European DNA doesn't get diluted; majority of Latin Americans have 40-60% European DNA.
Speaking of origin(race) & nationality.
Believe it or not!
Do you know Portuguese Navigator Ferdinand Magellan his “Iberian Jew descent(Not Hebrew Origin)?” And most Spanish Military Soldiers came into the Philippines during Colonial Era 15th century, are Iberian Jew(mixed German, Slavic), & Dark Arabs descents?
I need to read more about Magellan-it something on my list
We are actually from planet nimbus,,and yes we are alien in this planet
norther and central philippines means you are most likely ilocano
My DNA results
50% Spanish
50% Mermaid
it tells me that im a legit
Spanish Sardines 😅
Central asia Chinese means Austronesian today call it china but not china territory before because many kingdom in china until Mongolia invasion in china
Some people say they would be devasted if they found out that they have Chinese DNA! Well, you'd be damned because Filipinos have indeed Chinese ancestry.
It says Japanese and Korean though
27% of Pilipino are of Chinese descent.
I don’t have to tell you, you’re half pinoy. I can see it in your eyes!😂 no joke!
Interesting that you don't have a little Iberian ancestry.
SEPHARDI means “SPANISH” or “HISPANIC” derived from SEPHARAD(Hebrew & Tiberian Biblical Location - Spain) IBERIAN PENINSULA - The western most outpost of Phoenician(Mixed Hebrew & Canaanite Descent) Maritime Trade.
King Hiram/Haram(Mixed Hebrew & Phoenician/Canaanite Descents) of Tyre, … the official Navy of King Solomon - “son of King David.” Read Book of I King Chapter 5 (KJV),📚✅👀
did you have to put your real name? you should put a random name. my friend has the result of 50% south korean and 50% north korean. LOL
That’s a good question. I think if you wanted to use it to get information about your family history, you would need to use your real name. I’d be very curious to hear the story of your friend’s parents!
You are not Filipino if you can't sing. 😂
HONESTLY, U DONT ADD ALL. WUT EVER THE HIGHEST % THAT SHOULD BE THE RESULT. CUS UR NOT LOOKSLIKE FILIPINO AND JUST SMALL % AS I SAID 25%. IM RIGHT CLOSE TO 23%.
Lol, did you have a stroke as you were typing this? What the hell are you even trying to say?
the truth is people around the world has filipino origin. if you know adam and eve from the holy scripture, well both of them are filipinos
Lol, what are you smoking? If Adam and Eve were real, they would've been Middle Eastern because the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, which flow through Mesopotamia, are mentioned in the Bible as being near the Garden of Eden.
@noelramirez1551 the real river is in the philippines. those rivers in the middle east that was named after the bible where not the real rivers.
@@thetruemessiah1988 LOL, no. If the Garden of Eden ever existed, it's in the Middle East because that was the cradle of civilization.... Man, Filipinos are in complete denial and have an identity crisis. You guys want to be everything but Asian, and now you guys are claiming to be the first people in existence.... Lol, that's a new one! 😂
I’m Filipino, My ancestry DNA is Filipino, Chinese and Spanish. Most Filipinos are not pure Filipino per se.
There is no such thing as a pure Filipino. Well, if you sprouted out of the soil in the Philippines, then maybe you are. 😂
Maybe The Philippines need to stop using the word 'Pure" it sounds racist and gross lol
Filipinos are Austronesians and Melanesians. Majority of Filipinos are Austronesians or Melanesians.
@@GTX311 Not pure, but 99%+ Austronesians exist in Central Cordillera
@@AkitaMix Yeah, but Austronesians are also just immigrants to the Philippines. They are also not even the first wave of immigrants.
I'm Igorot, by the way.
Filipino DNA doesn't mean only Asian, In your case probably since your Filipina mother did know so much about her heritage. but even if it wasn't full 50% from Asia it still can be Filipino, because of mixing. It is a pity that you didnt show the other results. I suppose that the only purpose of this video was showing some Native Filipino dna.. such a pity.
Less than 2% of the population in the Philippines has Spanish ancestry, so yea like 98% of y'all are pure Asian.
You shouldn't count your Chinese percentage as Filipino. Filipinos who are mixed Chinese are called chinoy (they have their own designation and are mixed like you). Pure Chinese who live in the Philippines are still chinese (not pinoy).
It says Japanese and Korean on the test
Ulol kahit kilan hindi yan kakalat ang dugong Chinese sa bansang Pilipinas 😂fack you ka😂😂 tandaan mo,kinamumunghian ng Pilipinas ang lahing Chinese😂🤮🤮🤮at tandaan mo never ang Pilipinas na malahian ng dugong Chinese at kong meron man kakonti lang, dugong Pilipino parin ang nananalaytay sa bansang Pilipinas, viva Filipinas, sangre hispanidad 🇵🇭
@@lololo-cy2euno it does not
It because he have chinese you think he is chinoy? Lol. Being 6 percent chinese it doesn't mean (han chinese there's lot of native tribe in southern and central and eastern chinese who have austronesian dna too we live in eastern and southern china before we migrate to taiwan and to philippines
@RRQPH what I said was he shouldn't count his Chinese DNA as Filipino I didn't say someone with 6% Chinese is automatically considered chinoy. There're some things that you just have to figure out on your own. 6% is practically nothing just don't count it as Filipino. Someone with that little percentage, their grandparents knew how to integrate themselves.
I don't want to try this dna stuff because I'd be devastated if i have Chinese blood
LOL sounds like racist but Filipinos have 10% Chinese blood courses through their veins in the common parlance so to speak.
Many Chinese who take this test have up to 10% Filipino.😅😅😅😅
@@thelonecrusader220 but not all. Although there are many filipinos that have chinese dna but not all of them as there are others of them that don't have chinese admixture.
You look more half half..
Yes definitely not white, what he did mention all the time.
You see 13 percent VISAYA'S the visaya's have four tribes now find which tribe you belong to 1. WARAY 2. CEBUANO 3. HILIGAYNON 4. ILONGGO 4 SUPREME TRIBE WAS DESTROYED PORTUGUES
My Addition was 54 % = 23 T 13 T 8
