No specific products "help" my hair grow but moisturizing your hair prevents dryness which in turn keeps the hair healthy and will grow. What I've learned to do with my own hair is, get a natural style such as two strand twists, flat twist style, braids on my natural hair with twist, flexirod set and leave it for weeks. Not constantly washing or manipulating my hair helps plus taking care of yourself from the inside out.

I'm still on my hair journey and I'm growing out my natural hair after it being permed all of my life. My greatest challenge was finding styles to wear in between braids or twists that I could easily do and wear in a professional setting. I never learned how to care for my natural hair growing up, let alone style it. Sister Adanna It may be the serum that's making your hair behave as if it's low porosity. Serums can laminate the hair and thus stop other products you apply from actually getting to the hair shafts
You may want to try a clay wash to remove any serum or otherwise build-up and reset your hair: Basically bentonite/rhassoul clay and few drops of ACV mixed into a paste with water and apply to your hair AFTER making it as wet as you can in the shower. You can add a few drops of peppermint/rosemary oil and rub onto your scalp to cleanse that also
Work it through all the strands with your fingers then rinse it out THOROUGHLY. Don't allow it to dry into your hair
You may see and feel an immediate difference in the texture of your hair
Also...have you tried adding a little vegetable glycerin to your water spritz stage This is an humectant so will draw moisture to your hair HOWEVER you said it's very dry where you are, so if you use glycerin keep your hair covered when out so the moisture is not drawn AWAY from your hair
All natural All tried and work brilliantly for me

Since coming to Canada my scalp has gotten way itchier with flakes no matter how clean and moisturized it is. Also, I love that wig. After blowing it out, did it revert to the original state after wetting or conditioning it? I wouldn't want to spoil those beautiful curls.
