You actually can't be criminally trespassed if you're ASKED to leave. He can simply decline the request and/or come back at any time later.
He has to be told to leave and given a no trespass order as he left. The first contact isn't trespassing nor is it criminal. He was on private property open to the general public. There's no crime. If he comes back onto the property again AFTER given that order, then he can be criminally trespassed.
