    I use to drive my uncle's 1976 Bedford 44 seater school bus ( No power steering) in Malaysia around year 1998 till 2000 when we scrapped it. The engine was almost bullet proof, it had no issues except for some fuel pump problems which was rectified later. The rear axle was replaced with a large Mitsubishi Fuso with bigger brakes & it reduced the fuel consumption tremendously. I miss those old British made buses.

    If memory serves me correctly,there was an article in Truck magazine a good few years ago about a company in Berkshire who offered a tilt cab conversion on the KM/TK. I wonder if anyone would have a copy to confirm it? This video has only just come up on my recommendations,so a little late to the party!

    Can’t understand why Believe that Bedford never launched this without the cab being able to tilt because they were a dam good workhorse there were lots and lots of them all over the U.K. shame I for one really miss proper Bedford Trucks

    Miss these old Bedfords! Good trucks,my father had a Bedford tk back in the late 60's and early 70's. A real workhorse! Sad that bloody GM screwed bedford up,a real shame.

    I love Bedfords with 10 stud wheels.
    Why do they have those radial splines in the wheel centres? To cool the brakes and bearings?

    I've worked on tk tl km, was your tilt limit because of the gearstick?, or steering box knuckle?, great job though,

    • @raymond1952ful
      @raymond1952ful  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hi we set the limit so it did not go over center we can go over more by a lot.

      @@raymond1952ful so how did you modify the steering joint,?, I'm not being picky, I now modify cars for a living and have been for the last 30 years, I grew up with these motors and Leyland and AEC s, I'm in my 60s and the first lorry I drove was a tk Bedford, at the age of 13, not on the road, but in the yard, I've worked on many TLs, and I wish I had a grand for the amount of engines in them I've rebuilt, I've restored lorries myself SJO535F, GUF92D, DEN803D,, I could never understand why Bedford never made the km cab to tilt from the start, anyway all the best in, Steve,

      @raymond1952ful  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      as you know the steering is a col um so we cut it to the bottom and put a universal joint in

      Not as ridiculous as having to remove the entire cab with a crane in a workshop just to change a head gasket because the cab didn't tilt in the first place.
