Had she not let her jealousy get the better of her she would have found Ruyi was a great assistant as noble Consort ((the actual purpose of a NC to begin with was to basically act as an assistant to the empress in managing the harem, a task Ruyi was great at)) She wouldn't have gotten ruyi to do all the bad things but had she relied on Ruyi a lot of issues wouldn't have happened or been managed easier without messing with empress' health
It was all the Empress' fault. If Empress wasn't so evil then there would be older princesses than her daughter and other clans would also be able to have this opportunity. Especially Hui would love such a promising marriage for her daughter because Khorchin also asked themselves for a princess so they would really value a good princess being sent over to them.

Was this drama shot over time or is it make up to make them more mature after several years? I love watching the young Hongli and Qingying in their youthful love. So refreshing but alas as their saying goes beautiful in the beginning but separate later.
Big production like this usually takes months if not years to do it, plus the makeup and how the actors carry themselves show the maturity of characters.
I noticed in both Empresses in the Palace and Ruyi's Royal Love, the female protagonist had their hair styled differently when they were younger, and as they age, their hairdos became more sophisticated. But the ageing process on Wallace Huo was astonishingly. When he was yelling at Ruyi for interrupting his fun with the brothel women toward the series' finale, he was barely recognizable from when we first saw him at the series' beginning.
