In this video, I will show you how the Agawa Boreal21 Folding Saw works, how to store it and set it up, and why it is a great addition to your camping gear.
The Agawa Boreal21 Folding Saw is a folding bow saw that can cut through wood up to 6 inches in diameter. It has a durable aluminum frame, a stainless steel tensioning system, and a comfortable nylon handle. The saw blade is 21 inches long and can be easily replaced with different types of blades for different materials. The best part is that the saw folds into a compact size of 22 x 2 x 1.5 inches, making it easy to carry and store in your backpack or rucksack. A small highish end folding saw is worth buying, if I need more I use the bucksaw though. You could take six blades and make a handle in the field, if you needed to go light and long term.
Blackie, Great Information Always, Thanks For Sharing Your Vast Knowledge, Wisdom, Experience.
Great vid, please swap out the white tape for electrical tape. The white tape has a stick life, and is going to be hard to remove after time.
First Blackie video I've had time to watch in quite a while. Kinda feels like coming home.
Cool... I've just been running a 21" bowsaw from Ace for years. Never gave me any trouble. I think I have replaced the blade twice now. I can roll an extra blade in my bushpot if I am worried about it failing though.
You my friend are truly a piece of work! Iffin I hadn't been carrying the same Sven Saw for about 40 years I would have already bought one of these as I just love the idea! BUT that having been said; I'm gonna stick with my Sven Saw and my Husqvarna and Council Tool axes. I just got my ILBE a few weeks ago and can retire my Molle 2 ruck. The ILBE with two Helikon E&E pouches can carry everything I could possibly overpack into my bag! I'm hoping to do my first Bushcraft video shortly since my only other one was about making pizza in my wood burning stove under the name of Rock Ridge Ramblings. Hope you get a chance to check it out. You and several other YT stalwarts have inspired me to do this as well as my desire to include my Labs on my adventures. Hope to chat soon! Thanks Blackie
Great idea! I’ll definitely have to do that to mine. Thanks for sharing
a folding saw is a great woods tool for firewood and shelter building.
Blackie, thanks for an innovative mod.
Ya man maddys a cool ladie got a fww things from her .must be fun to hang out with
Great tip Blackie, thanks for sharing, God bless !
My pleasure!
Hi Blackie, great information. I have the same saw, mine is the older version, I guess. It's silver with the green handle. Didn't know there was enough room in there for a spare blade and even a thin file. Thank you! 👍👍
Blackie, it's always good idea to have extra blades and maintenace tools, but this time You kill the main feature of the Boreal21: the quick deployment. I love the Boreal21, because it is ready for action like a folding saw, but it can do much more... Thanks for the hard work You put into this channel
Brilliant!
Nice trick, and I love that saw!
I never thought of checking to see if my Sven - Saw has room for an extra blade. That said I have quite a few old bow/Swede saws with original blades. That said it is what I started on as a kid, so not using it right was corrected by a brain duster, so I never broke one. I think the only way i could break one is kinking the blade or abusing it. If you are not use to one then it's better to have an extra or you may need to supply someone else or if an inexperience person uses your saw. A chunk of beeswax in a pouch to run up and down the blade helps a lot. Actually any kind of wax or even bar soap. I do try to clean my blades and coat with oil or car wax before hanging them up.
Love me some bombproof bushcraft !!!!
Great minds think alike
Could you possibly do a video building a buck saw.
Or, you can purchase the Agawa leather carrying case and all of that extra stuff fits in nicely and without fiddling around with stowage issues. I know thatDave Canterbury says, “2 is 1 and 1 is none,” but I have never needed a replacement blade even though I carry it with me….just saying.
The boreal is an OK saw.
It's much better to bring along the appropriate sized Silky saw.
Silky is overrated, Corona saw cuts a LOT faster.. great video blackie... like the new thumbnails.. Semper-fi
Yeah a bucksaw is the best budget option, you can make everything yourself except the blades even, but if you're going to spend $50+ go for a high end folding saw.

Silky saws are at the top of the industry... I've yet to see a competitor out perform them. If they don't... it's user error!
Boreal21 saw weighs 1.2 lbs or 19.2 oz.
Soda can weighs 13oz.
Love your videos, sir
