I used to get ostracized, compared, insulted, bullied, beat, yelled at, punished, left out, blamed, and forgotten. I still do. But I’ve dealt with it for so long that I have grown numb to it. I can sense the hidden disdain though. Some of my family has come around and I am so grateful, but I still remember all they have said and done. There are self proclaimed “black sheep” in my family but this title has only been claimed after living a life that has hurt everyone around them. I am no one to judge, please don’t mistake my words. Truth is truth. I actually didn’t identify with the black sheep until recently. I sort of forgot all that has happened and numbed myself to what continues as a coping mechanism. I thank you for this message. I lost my light for a long time, but I have returned home to the Lord and am slowly becoming full again. I know I need to step back from my family soon. They are sleepwalkers who are asleep and I treat them as such. I’m not angry with them because they don’t know (or if they do they don’t care which at the end of the day just means they don’t know because they should care… They will understand why they should’ve cared soon) what they’re doing, but they are dangerous nonetheless so I keep them at a safe distance physically, and mentally.

Black sheep also! I’m an only child and I have jealousy issues with a few cousins and indifference from others. It didn’t get better with trying to make friends, participating in social groups, and even in some work settings, I wasn’t welcomed. I should be mean from the horrible treatment I got that wasn’t justified. But my parents kept me grounded. My Mom was treated poorly by her relatives and my Dad is praised by his relatives but he keeps them at arm’s length. It’s a messed up experience.
