It perfectly encapsulates centuries of resentment, anger, and rage from Nightmare Moon, that her jailer is her only source of light. Her jailer is her way out. I can't adequately put into words just how great this line is.
That line caught my attention as well. Solitary confinement is quickly becoming frowned upon as a practice because it robs the mind of social interaction that the psyche requires to remain intact. Taking this away from an already psychotic and emotionaly unstable mind would produce only the perfect nightmare for the world to behold.

The picture artist missed the occasion to make her extra spooky by making the eyes on the wings blink as well. Wings blinking is my personal creepiest favourite.
I'd like to imagine this song takes place in an alt.universe where Celestia was the one overcome with envy instead of Luna and decided to trap Luna on the moon because of her envy and covered it up by claiming Luna had turned against Equestria but through out the centuries without her sister she was overcame with guilt and eventually set her free,however,1000 years of solitary confinement and feelings of betrayal drove Luna to pure madness resulting in her coming back with a murderous vengeance as Nightmare Moon

I recently started reading the “Past Sins” story and I can’t get the fact that once I finish it I’ll have to find another story to read and after that, another, and while I do think of story’s in my head that I feel would look great on paper, but I don’t have the skills to write, or type it out to make it into a good story for other people to read.
This one was an acquired taste for me, needed to listen to it a good 5-6 times before I started liking it, but now it's one of my faves from the album :D

Penstroke, the writer of Past Sins, writes other fics too, especially sequals and successors to Past Sins. There's quite a bit there.
