I completely LOVE creating these sorts of books and Im thrilled I came across this industry! Im a pastry chef and own a cafe, so even though I'm super busy, I am so enjoying creating in what little free time I have!
I love to create stuff. And just recently got into, well realized I'd be good at graphic design. And then learned about kdp and lulu books for planners, journals, coloring books, single page designs, and even social media aesthetic designs. I love it all. I love making stuff by hand and I love virtually designing homes, to writing short stories and then decided I would be good at graphic design and making these books bc I have my own personal style but im very careful about what I actually publish I want a certain thing and it's exciting to put it out there and see who will like it. I just love making stuff and creating all kinds of stuff and I really love when ppl love it. Thanks for the video as I love learning everything I can as I go.

Seriously, you tell the truth - why on earth do these people publish books if they don't even like the process??? I enjoy the coloring book niche and am hoping to do more this year. It is hard work, even if you purchase the graphics online (and modify, modify, modify!) On my first book I may have mixed styles but tried to get them to look similar, is was for kids anyway and hopefully they don't mind too much, and it was an activity book. Hope you have a good Q1 everyone!

Hi Paddy, do you have a course or any information on the actual listing part of KDP? I am having problems with it bouncing back to me to 'fix' but I don't know what I am meant to fix. This is my first ever attempt at a book, I'd really appreciate your advice. x x x
yes I do have a course but it's not necessary because when this happens KDP will send you an email saying what is wrong with your book, so make sure to check your emails and you spam emails just incase it got sent there. If you haven't received an email yet then be patient as it can sometimes take a while :)

Question for you. If we are just starting out, and we set the book up on amazon horribly, completely screwing up the keywords we list it for, or come up with a garbage book description, can we easily change this later and hopefully have the book sell better because we were able to change these things?

I know customers don't want to want weeks to receive their book, this is the main reason i stayed away from POD book printing for years and always printed them first and then shipped them myself

just because you published a book does not guarantee sales, my first ever published book did not sell. you need to build out your portfolio of books :)
Great video. I looked into that $4.99 "You F-ing Got This" coloring book stats and reviews. In your vid the BSR is #50, as of my comment, it's #84. In one review, it shows a lot of the book (mis-printed upside down) and half of them are just basic kid-level artwork with text, and some are more intricate. This does break the congruency that you talk about. Very good example of what not to do. Another thing that breaks congruency, in one review it states that the customer thought the book would be full of INSPIRATIONAL text with a bad word thrown in.. but most are just insults. So, the cover does not match the content. And finally, another review with photo, shows us that the background images are pixelated. I shake my head. Wow. It was very low effort, and still making money because they were first on the scene with this type of cover and niche.
That book has a BSR of 50 at the time of recording. Right now, they are at #84. At #50, it estimates to 14,345 sales per month, at #84, 10,731. It is only 60 pages. They are probably making at least 50 cents a sale.... This is still $5 to $7,000 in profit. Each page has full-black on the back to allow the customer to use markers and avoid bleed-through to the back, and then coming around to the front in another section. And, it's low quality. I read a review with a zoomed in pic... the background images are pixelated.
I found your brand and read in the reviews of the book whose title begins with Sometimes that there are many misspelled words in the book. If it was my book I would have adjusted the interior. Potential buyers can also read those reviews.

as long as you have the rights to use them and are using them to create designs instead of using "as is" then you should be fine

you can always change the cover, description and backend keywords. You can never change title and subtitle of your book

do not use free images for your coloring books, make sure that you also have the right licensing as every website os different
How to create such books?
it takes time to learn, it's best to start with something simple so you can learn the process. something like notebooks are better to start with
