  • This project was a part of an ongoing restoration plan at the iconic location of Mauao, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.
    18 large trees were removed via helicopter over the course of two days.
    These trees were growing on an archaeologically significant site, meaning no ground disturbance was allowed in the process of removal.
    The team was made up of some of the most talented and qualified aerial arborists (both nationally and internationally) who traveled from all over Australasia to be a part of this special project.
    A big thank you to the individuals and companies that contributed generously towards this special project

    Can’t believe I missed this video when it was first out. I used to work on and fly on on the Blackhawk that Kahu operates when it was in US Army service as a contract mechanic, great to see it still at work!

    Top work lads, another kiwi arborist here must have being out the gate having a chopper that can do an extra ton of lift over other choppers🤘 and how about that down draft 😳😂

      Hi Sam, yeah it was pretty outrageous.
      The hawk is actually capable of 3.5 tonnes of lift so it’s more than double what a squirrel can carry.
      We did need it mind you.
      Thanks for getting in touch.

    • @climbernzcoleman
      @climbernzcoleman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the straight up and down stemwood some of the crew used mini wedges.
      Most of the wood had pretty significant. Lean so it came off pretty easily.
      that giant stem isn’t included in the video unfortunately but we shoved sticks in the kerf as we were cutting around.
