If you dial in a setting on the app, can you put your phone to sleep and back in your pocket? Or do you need to keep the phone on the whole time while using those settings
I've got the crane plus. The gimbal is fantastic. Use with A7r3 28mm F2. The app on android 7 is terrible. Have emailed Zhiyun. 2 star rating on play store. I really hope they fix it soon. I would like to use the tracking and hyperlapse.
Jason, now I have a big big problem because of you... You suggested to get the Sony A6500 and the 18-105mm lens, great, I got them. You introduced the Sony A7R3, sweet, I love it as well, so I got it... Sigma 16 1.4, it is so awesome, that make me put on my list... Now you are showing us how the Zhiyun Crane Plus is doing such amazing job, guess what is in my cart then? TAT...
Hey Jason I got request sigma 30mm DC DN lens got an software update. Can you please show us how to update this lens. I know sigma has some dock to update their lenses but I'm not sure about this model. So it will be really helpful if you can make one. Thank you.
mine is arriving tomorrow! sold my feiyu mg lite and was debating between this model and the crane 2, but for 100 dollar different i picked up this one! never been so excited about gimbal before untill they invented that POV mode which is a game changer, just the mavic air that i got last month too! great video great contents man! subbed!
Your video is great n useful to me. I am using sony a6400 and a sony 35mm f.1.8 lens. My question is my lens (light n small) with 6400body can work well with zhiyun crane plus?
Since you promoted the Sigma 16mm here which is an APSC lens I suppose you still shoot the A7R3 in Super 35, right? How does this lens perform on full frame? Do you get a lot of vignetting?
Awesome!! I'm still holding out for the Ronin-S. Quick questions what type of lights do you use at weddings? and a affordable option you would recommend?
Ace review! I have a question however, will this gimbal taking a beating? I mean a serious pounding! This summer I will be cycling from the UK to India and along the way I will be making a documentary. Some of the places we will be visiting would make for some amazing wide angle gimbal footage! (as I'm sure you can imagine) I've thought about just taking a Go-Pro gimbal but I love my A7 too much.
Great video as always but I just cannot stand that the camera's display is still blocked. I just got my hands on the brand new Pilotfly Adventurer and so far, it's beating the Crane 2 and Moza Lite 2 with stability and feature set. I would recommend at least looking into it since we're both Sony shooters and can't flip out the LCD screen but that's just my 2 cents! You can find the unboxing and tests on my channel in case you're interested Jason! Great video by the way!
Hey Jason, I hope all is well. We met at NAB and I live in LA also. My wife does a Vlog as well and I do professional video production. Im looking to get a gimbal for my Sony A73 and also A6500. I have a 16-35mm, 50mm macro, 85mm and 24-70mm to use. There are great deals on DJI Ronin S and Crane Plus over the holidays. If its about $150 price difference should I get the DJI? Im also ok to wait a few months if you think there will be new gimbals for CES or NAB 2019. I have never used a gimbal like this before and want something for ease of use since I don't think I will use it a lot at first. I have bought expensive equipment in the past only to not use it as much as I thought. Just trying to make smart decisions so would love some advice.
Do you need a small quick release plate to use on the gimbal? What about the longer Manfrotto plate that I have? Should I just forgo it and invest in a smaller quick release plate for the gimbal?
Would it be possible for you to share your settings allowing to balance Zhiyun Crane Plus with Sony a6500 and 18-105 lens - in terms of parameters for each side/plate (mm)...I would be extremely grateful! I've been trying to balance it for hours with no success! Thank you.
Would you still recommend this in 2020, given the decent price decrease? If not, what would you recommend in the 4lb payload range for travel (strapped to backpack) - have been disappointed in the Feiyu G6 Max (balance, motor jitters, etc)?
Mr. Vong i bought what i thought was the Crane Plus. But i noticed yours actually says Crane Plus on it. If mine doesnt but looks the same as that besides the rose knobs. What did i buy?
Yes, I just set it up yesterday. However, the camera is so light that it can be challenging to balance on all axis. I found that by adding a quick-release adapter to the a6000, then connect everything to the crane plus, added just enough weight to the entire setup that it now balances perfectly. I used an older cinema & photography quick-release, but many others will work. You need a bit more weight with the a6000 - sounds crazy to add weight to make it better, but it the a6000 just seems too light by itself to balance on the crane plus. The camera control adapter (included) also works for recording and zoom control.
Hi! thanks for your videos they are very helpfully. Only quick question. Do you think the Crane plus will work right with my A7III with the zoom lens FE 24-105??? Thank you
A Crane V2 can get the same features as the Plus with simply updating it with the Plus latest official firmware. Isn't it crazy? Well, my Crane V2 has now POV mode like the Plus.
Thanks for all of the great informational videos. You've won over a new subscriber. I was wondering why you prefer the Crane Plus over the Crane 2. Maybe you could make a video with your reasoning. :)
Great Review! Seeing that you've used both the sigma 16mm and the Zeiss Batis 25mm. Which is better for video both hand held and gimbal use? Is the Zeiss worth the extra $800?
Sick review, I just got the Crane plus and am loving it. ABle to hold much more weight than the Crane v2. Question: I have an A7sii and do Videography commercially. I want to get another camera and am not sure whether I should get a camcorder like the Sony FDR AX700 or just get another mirrorless like the A6300?
debating between the plus and the two for my upcoming sony a7III! but still unsure of lens choice too LOL was debating between the 24-70 F2.8 G master or just get some prime lens?
I purchased the Crane Plus after watching your review. I’ve the A6500, 18-105mmF4, but I can’t seem to balance the gimbal, at all. Can you share your hash marks with me. Btw, I also purchased Sony Remote control using your link. Thanks.
What would you suggest as a quick release for arca style? I have the RRS L Bracket on my a7riii and would like to keep it on there. Really great stuff!
My A7R III's LCD is going on & off (black) on Crane Plus when I'm moving with it. Love the camera but it's still in the 30 day return period. Any idea what could be wrong?
Nice review Jason! I got mine right after CES (for a VERY cheap price too, it almost seemed unreal) and promptly sold the V2. Really love the new intelligent tracking feature.
Hey, i have a problem with zhiyun crane plus. you maybe can help me. Is Sony a7iii kit is too heavy for zhiyun crane plus? because it lose the balance when i move.
Do you ever fly it with the cage? Is that possible? I'm thinking for those times when you want to go quickly from the one setup to the other and have all the benefits the cage offers.
i have the Regular Crane.. a7rii with a 28-70 3.5-5.6F. i cant seem to keep it parallel with the ground at times it just wants to flop around. and i have to turn it off. and back on to get it to get steady again.. any idea?
If you use a quick release plate, do you still need to rebalance if you switch to a different lens? Also does the app work good on android devices. (Samsung galaxy s8 plus)
Depends on your setup. If it's light prime, go crane plus. If you wanna use a heavier lens like the GMs, Crane 2. Honestly, I would go with light primes with Crane plus for beginners
Hey Jason, have you experienced any drift (to the left or right) while walking forward, especially in pan follow mode? If so, how can this issue be solved?
How did you mount the Manfrotto 323 Base to the Gimbal plate? The Manfrotto Base doesn't sit flat, there's a tiny protrusion from the small lock-out lever. I had to 3D-Print a spacer to raise the plate to make room for that lock-out lever...
I have the lever facing the motor. It works well only because the setup i'm using isn't too back heavy. Otherwise, yeah I would have the level off to the side.
Are you using a quick release because you can’t balance the camera perfectly without it? I’m having a problem balancing my a6300 on the Crane Plus tilt motor arm. It doesn’t let me raise the camera far enough to keep the camera from rolling upright when I balance it. A quick release raises the camera enough so that it balances perfectly. Also, is your roll motor arm hard to slide back and forth? I have to muscle it to get it to move and I worry that I’m stressing the motor when I do. Thanks. Any help is much appreciated.
I'm using the quick release to save time from having to re-balance the setup but it can also help add some weight for light cameras like the a6300! And nope, maybe cause I tug on it too much haha it shouldn't be a problem
Hey Jason I have the Crane 2. I love it’s functionality but don’t like that it’s hard to transport and bulky to handle. I do have a C200 which is why I bought it but it doesn’t really balance right on the gimbal. I’ve been thinking of switching to Crane plus. Have an a7s II. Do you recommend over the Crane 2 for that camera.
I missed an amazing opportunity to buy the Zhiyn Crane V2 for $399 2 weeks ago. Now it's back to $469. :( Do you recommend just buying the Zhiyun Crane Plus instead? My current set-up is the typical Sony alpha line with a rode mic.
CLUTCH1st I just checked amazon and it’s 399$ Zhiyun Crane V2 3 Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer 3 32bit MCUs Brushless Motors with Encoders for Mirrorless Camera Sony A7 series/Panasonic LUMIX Series/Nikon J Series/Canon M Serie www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTTZ1L4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xAFKAbW0ZES66
I have the v2 since it dropped in price I got that instead of the Plus, and I like it a lot I have the a6300 so the added weight capacity that the Plus has wasn't enough for me to justify the additional $169.
Those Zhiyun products are legit! Those shots you got at the wedding were slick!
If you dial in a setting on the app, can you put your phone to sleep and back in your pocket? Or do you need to keep the phone on the whole time while using those settings
Thanks for participation in the discussion with valuable suggestion.?
I've got the crane plus. The gimbal is fantastic. Use with A7r3 28mm F2. The app on android 7 is terrible. Have emailed Zhiyun. 2 star rating on play store. I really hope they fix it soon. I would like to use the tracking and hyperlapse.
Thanks for the shout out! That quick release setup you have looks so freaking smooth. I’m jealous.
TAT...
do you have an update on this?
was wondering if you still think it's the best gimbal for 2020
Hey Jason I got request sigma 30mm DC DN lens got an software update. Can you please show us how to update this lens. I know sigma has some dock to update their lenses but I'm not sure about this model. So it will be really helpful if you can make one. Thank you.

enjoy!!
Your video is great n useful to me. I am using sony a6400 and a sony 35mm f.1.8 lens. My question is my lens (light n small) with 6400body can work well with zhiyun crane plus?
Would you recommend this over the Moza AirCross?
I personally haven't used it :(
Jason Vong Thanks for your reply! I think the Crane is better anyways, it has higher load capacity and zoom integration. That’s real cool.
Good video ! This model has trepitations and the image trembles a bit, the v2 model I think is thinner and smoother! regards
Hi Jason, do you know if the Crane Plus can balance a a6300 + MC11 + Sigma 18-35 ? thank you for your answer :)
I have a g85 with kit lens 12-60 and a 15mm
I'm torn between crane plus and ronin sc
What is the bag/sling you're wearing in the b-roll?
Hoping this works well with the A6400… Yep Amazon is dropping these off by the end of the week 😁 Rokinon 12 F2. 0 too! I'm stoked 😊
jason was it hard balance the manfroto plate on gimbal, i have another plate and cant seem to balance it on the gimbal..
Ace review! I have a question however, will this gimbal taking a beating? I mean a serious pounding!
This summer I will be cycling from the UK to India and along the way I will be making a documentary. Some of the places we will be visiting would make for some amazing wide angle gimbal footage! (as I'm sure you can imagine)
I've thought about just taking a Go-Pro gimbal but I love my A7 too much.
Calling that gimbal a BBC is legit why I subscribed to your channel haha .. Turns out you have tons of awesome information ! Thanks much man
Hey Jason, what's your bag?
Great video as always but I just cannot stand that the camera's display is still blocked. I just got my hands on the brand new Pilotfly Adventurer and so far, it's beating the Crane 2 and Moza Lite 2 with stability and feature set. I would recommend at least looking into it since we're both Sony shooters and can't flip out the LCD screen but that's just my 2 cents! You can find the unboxing and tests on my channel in case you're interested Jason! Great video by the way!
Thank you very much for the review, recently also took myself.
There are great deals on DJI Ronin S and Crane Plus over the holidays.

is there a gimbal that will allow me to slide the camera forward a short distance?

Nice review Jason, will I be able to use a 5d mark iii with 16-35 lens on this gimbal?
Great review! I was really looking forward to your playlist but I can’t open it. Just letting you k ow in case others are looking for it too!
A Crane V2 can get the same features as the Plus with simply updating it with the Plus latest official firmware. Isn't it crazy? Well, my Crane V2 has now POV mode like the Plus.
Awesome review dude. Does the dual handheld grip/bracket from the Zhiyun crane 2 fit this also?
can it stick with the a7s camera, if the camera uses smallrig cage?
BBC - YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!! LOL
Hi Jason, did or could you test the 12-24 F4 and the 24-70GM with the Crane Plus? Will this work somehow when removing the eye piece? Thanks
Pretty cool stuff broski! I personally like my a6300 zhiyun crane v2 combo but that setup looks bomb af! Are you gonna be doing any travel soon?
I have a6500 and Sony 18-105 f4. You can zoom directly from this gimball?
So stoked for this was holding off on the v2 and now a whole new. Generation drops. Awesome news. Awesome review.
Thanks for all of the great informational videos. You've won over a new subscriber. I was wondering why you prefer the Crane Plus over the Crane 2. Maybe you could make a video with your reasoning. :)
Can the Sony a5100 be added to this?
Great Review! Seeing that you've used both the sigma 16mm and the Zeiss Batis 25mm. Which is better for video both hand held and gimbal use? Is the Zeiss worth the extra $800?
Both are good! Go for 16mm if you're on a budget.
Does Zhiyun Crane V2 have the Object Tracking features as well?
Sick review, I just got the Crane plus and am loving it. ABle to hold much more weight than the Crane v2.
Question: I have an A7sii and do Videography commercially. I want to get another camera and am not sure whether I should get a camcorder like the Sony FDR AX700 or just get another mirrorless like the A6300?
A6300 and have it as a dedicated gimbal camera. The AF on it is way better
Is there a way to hold it? while walking with it i still see some micro shakes, as if it doesn't stabilize enough...
Nice ..I really appreciate ur work...Keep posting
debating between the plus and the two for my upcoming sony a7III! but still unsure of lens choice too LOL was debating between the 24-70 F2.8 G master or just get some prime lens?
Hey whats the bag in the early part of the video?
Great review! Question: do all the fancy features (e.g. night lapse) only work with Sony cameras? Or will the ZY app talk to let's say, an Olympus?
I purchased the Crane Plus after watching your review. I’ve the A6500, 18-105mmF4, but I can’t seem to balance the gimbal, at all. Can you share your hash marks with me. Btw, I also purchased Sony Remote control using your link. Thanks.
Hey Jason, is this a good gimbal for a setup like a7iii with 24-70 2.8 G master...???
with one is better? crane 2 or crane plus? I dont have a canon so i dont use a manual focus from ring, and i still dont know what i should buy :|
How’s this vs the a1000? Using the a7iii and light primes
Any idea what could be wrong?

what carry on bag did u use?
Dang look at that crane! The video in this is so pretty as always ❤️
Hey Jason, what slider are you using in the video when you switch from gimbal to tripod to slider with the manfrotto quick-release plate? Thanks mate.
Do you ever fly it with the cage? Is that possible? I'm thinking for those times when you want to go quickly from the one setup to the other and have all the benefits the cage offers.
I have with the a6500. I don't with the a7RIII. Personally too much bulk for me on a crane
can you make a comparison for the crane pus and the ronin sc? thanks
nice video! which slider is that you're using?
iFootage Mini Shark Slider: geni.us/yuKn
i have the Regular Crane.. a7rii with a 28-70 3.5-5.6F. i cant seem to keep it parallel with the ground at times it just wants to flop around. and i have to turn it off. and back on to get it to get steady again.. any idea?
Any issues balancing that QR system? I am also thinking about getting this gimbal but didn't know if the 323 RC2 would balance with it.
Ok, so you have an A7R3 the Tamron 28-75 & a Sony Zeiss 16-35 f4. Do you buy the crane plus or crane2?
did you decide?
Can the crane plus handle a Sony a7iii with battery grip attached? Cheers
did it have a selfie mode?
If you use a quick release plate, do you still need to rebalance if you switch to a different lens? Also does the app work good on android devices. (Samsung galaxy s8 plus)
for someone really just starting out in video as a would you recommend the plus or 2? paired with a73?
Depends on your setup. If it's light prime, go crane plus. If you wanna use a heavier lens like the GMs, Crane 2. Honestly, I would go with light primes with Crane plus for beginners
Hey Jason, have you experienced any drift (to the left or right) while walking forward, especially in pan follow mode? If so, how can this issue be solved?
Hi Jason, will crane plus be able to handle A7iii plus 24-105 or 16-35Z lenses well? I can’t decide on whether to get crane plus or crane 2.
Ahhh got it, thank you
Could you tell me if the quick release plate would work with the manfrotto Xpro monopod ?
Jason, how many weight capacity for this stabilizing ? do you using a7riii and sigma 16.35mm?
What did you do with your Crane 2? Sold?
Another great review, keep up the good work.
How much would it cost to get your quick release ecosystem
which dual handlebar can you use?
Did the Sony a6700 come out??
My zhiyun Crane Plus doesn't balance my 7d mark ii with the sigma 24 105 f4 that well, but it's under the maximum weight
What do you think about Tila Gravity x2 vs this one?
Thanks for the review. Do you use or turn off the a7r iii's stabilization and have you noticed any jitter issues?
Nope, I left it on
Thanks,, have one yesterday.
anyone, can this crane works perfectly with my Sonya6000?
Great review! It’s on my list!
And nope, maybe cause I tug on it too much haha it shouldn't be a problem
how about attaching the crane to the tripod straps on peak design sling? is it possible?
Does the quick release plate also work with the Crane V2?
Yep!
why dont you use the batis 25 instead of sigma? Smaller and seems more versatile. F2 is pretty darn good for low light video.
My partner has the 25. We love it. I bought the 16mm for review but also ended up liking it a lot
hello Jason, do you think it´s possible to use crane plus with a7III and zeiss 50mm 1.4 ?
thx
Might be a bit front heavy
@@JasonVong thx man
Awesome review, was waitin‘ for a Zhiyun Crane Plus review from you...
Yes but use prime lenses or light zoom lenses.
so you definitely prefer the crane plus to crane 2. or do you have both?
Question: Jason just curious why you prefer the sigma 16mm 1.4 vs batis 25mm f2?
I like both. My partner has the 25mm I bought the 16mm for review
Cool, I have the 25mm... I noticed that these two lenses have similar weight... i wonder how they compare...
I missed an amazing opportunity to buy the Zhiyn Crane V2 for $399 2 weeks ago. Now it's back to $469. :( Do you recommend just buying the Zhiyun Crane Plus instead? My current set-up is the typical Sony alpha line with a rode mic.
CLUTCH1st have you checked amazon or even B&H photo???
LuisHappy yup, the price went back up in all places. Even Best Buy.
CLUTCH1st I just checked amazon and it’s 399$
Zhiyun Crane V2 3 Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer 3 32bit MCUs Brushless Motors with Encoders for Mirrorless Camera Sony A7 series/Panasonic LUMIX Series/Nikon J Series/Canon M Serie www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTTZ1L4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xAFKAbW0ZES66
LuisHappy what’s your opinion about the V2 and the v2 plus? By the way, thank you for replying. Do you have a channel as well?
I have the v2 since it dropped in price I got that instead of the Plus, and I like it a lot I have the a6300 so the added weight capacity that the Plus has wasn't enough for me to justify the additional $169.
As for the "going to be using this for the rest of 2018" remark. We will seen when DJI releases theirs.
If I put a battery grip on my a6400 will it work 🤔
