Yes Irene, many happy childhood memories for me,but also more recent memories of living in Morecambe for a few years.Sadly I had to return to Manchester due to family health problems.I would move back again tomorrow if I could!
Ryelands Primary to 1959, Skerton Boys' Secondary to 1964 and then Morecambe Grammar for A levels to 1966. Happy days. I've been in Hampshire since 1970
Some memories. My late mother used to work at Hadath's Tea Gardens in her summer holidays when she was student in the 1940's. She was related to the proprietors (her aunt and uncle). I still feel slightly nostalgic whenever I go back to Heysham or Morecambe.
Brilliant compilation. Morecambe was the place. The views don't change. Pity everything else does. Nigel Mansell had a bad crash as a kid at Heysham Head track. In his book.
A great video, Colin. Making me want to go walking around the country again but now with my new Gammy leg I cant walk far . More hospital appointments to come . What a life .🤣🤣🤣
Spent my early working life at The Super Swimming Stadium.Such happy memories.Even now in retirement we visit Morecambe about 3 times a week. It's in my blood.Well.....my Dad was from Morecambe and always longed to return but Mum wouldn't have it........so it never happened. Mind you.....would you swap Windermere for Morecambe these days!
Bloody hell Colin my grand parents took me and my older brother to morecambe when we weee little. It was like Disney land to us. The place was amazing big local counsil didn’t see it like that and let it go to ruin. I expect they had there fingers in bigger pies to give a shit about the community they we’re supposed to supporting as normal. Such a shame mate
@@colinthegeordiehistorian10 I tel what Colin I’ve got some old post cards of Morecambe as it were then. You can have them to keep if you share them in one of your vids mate. Just so others can see how magical the place used to be👍
Looking into the past I remember pier burned down and other places burned. This is what happens when developers get involved just looking at development potential and getting things on the cheap. Unfortunately for morecambe it looks like they took on more they can chew and backed out. But damage already done has left it a shit hole and could have been so much more if more money had been put into it. Such a shame on the place and the people that have to live there now. 🤬
Brings back memories of how wonderful Morecambe used to be. Just a shell of a town now.
Thank you for this beautiful video. Many happy memories of both Heysham and Morecambe.
The same Irene every year 60's and 70's with Mam and Dad Golden Memories
