Just got my first mini bike frame 2 weeks ago. Just finished doing my first governor deleted today and getting the engine running. This is valuable info as I know my engine won't be stock long. Thanks for posting
It would be good to inspect the inside bearing surface of the connecting rod. See if something jammed and then it snapped. To me it's odd that the first thing to break was the billet rod. Any defects in the metal where it broke? Sure blew up good. Good channel, keep the great real content coming!
was definitely thinking about getting one of these amazon rods for my budget 196cc build. now i’m not so sure anymore 🤣 sucks to see though, hope we see you with another engine soon
Those that mentioned the piston seizing makes most sense to me. I don’t believe in the idea of the rod just snapping, even if cheap china. I did have an ARC rod break on me, but I believe it got hot due to losing oil, and then I believe the top bolt lost torque and then the bottom bolt snapped causing a blown motor.
@@angelarobertson9424basically the momentum of the crank and flywheel spinning kept the force and it snapped wit all the force then a sudden halt to all moving parts
The end of the rod near the wristpin probably got so much presure from the comperssion that it just snapped after all the abuse, the rod is the most abused part in an engine.
Royal I have a question I’ve been struggling with fixing my bam breaks , so GTS said try a new tire that didn’t work then they said re wield , but when I came back they said BAM made the breaks too long , will a new break assembly from fast lane fix my problems or do I need a new frame ??? Help pleasw
I honestly cant tell yah what actually went wrong, maybe to much powa on the cam like you said, but a mild 265 or mod 2, and i heard jr mamba cams are pretty good. Anything stronger, should definitely get an ARC, but i been running this Amazon rod for a min, went through 3 sets of bearings, crank is flawless, ig i got a good out out the Amazon batch.
My guess is that the exhaust rocker broke causing the valve to stay closed on the exhaust stoke, the exhaust gases had no where to go and either the rod or the piston gave out first and caused the other to go with it. #boom
At this point of his building minibike engines and being on that circuit 24/7, it blows my mind that this seemingly intelligent young man takes the cheap way out everytime on 90 plus mph racing bikes. I made a comment like this on another of his videos and somebody replied to me and said give him a break he's still learning. Yeah, the first and last thing he will learn at 90 mph on scrub brakes is rule numero uno, you get what you pay for.
yeah but people just wanna do it for cheap, like me and my friend were building an engine on a small budget, using cheap parts to get the most performance possible, its just fun
@@syndeko1632 You gave a very intelligent reply to my comment, not only do I respect it but, I get it. The whole point of his videos is to try and do it spending as little money as possible.
The rod was still in one piece after the piston shattered, then the rod broke off, slinging the wrist pin around. And that part of the rod you see stuck causes the shearing off the shaft pin, in half.😏
Sorry that happened man. I bought one of those rods during the prime day sale. Going to do a review and put it here on TH-cam soon. Unfortunately when things look the same doesn’t mean they are the same. The extra $20-$30 is probably worth it to know you’re getting a good product. My gonads are too close to that engine block to run a cheap rod if you know what I’m saying.
Royal your buying up and building these engines. Filming is your key element bro...Snag up a tripod PRONTO! Quaility of your videos is what draws viewers homie. Spend wisely, Rootin for ya my man! My guess is they timing key snapped, then off timing you piston hit a valve and was all downhill from there. The billet rod did not fail, at all! I think key snapped or your piston touched a valve...
Was there a clearance issue clearing the rod and that 274 cam? I read in the comments, that people who bought the Chinese rod , couldn't get the wrist pin in the rod? Was yours real tight when you assembled it? Maybe ring gap was to tight? Low on oil? Just some possibilities?'i know youll build another one,and $160 wasnt to big of a loss.how long did it run before it grenaded? Was the engine warmed up before you reemed on it?👍👍
What a chain reaction of carnage. At the school of hard knocks this was a most valuable learning moment. Looks like the rod needs to be a notch or two more legit. Thanks for sharing.
So what would be the right thing to do if I want a safe trustworthy cruising set up for my mini? I want it to be able to do at least 60, I’m barely gonna get a 212cc so what else should I swap or change or buy?
I'm glad I live in Arizona because we have alot of 212 predator hemi and non hemi engine available to us. Better off to spend the extra cash for the high-end name brand parts then to get cheap performance parts
The rod looks perfect to be honest, the stock piston in the predators are known to implode at high rpm. That’s why you switch to a weisco piston, or use a forged piston beyond 8,000 rpm
Yo the method to get predator 212's in California is to buy the generators broken or used for cheap and swap the sidecase and crankshaft of the motor to make it work on the minibike

Wasn’t even the rod in my opinion should’ve went with a better piston. I’ve seen some people run Amazon rods with good flat tops and it run for a while
I think that the rod snapped in half and when that happened the piston was left behind sitting in the cylinder. After that happened the crankshaft and camshaft were still spinning so the valves hit the piston and when that happened the force of the hit caused the cam to snap and after that it all went to heehaa. piston siezed in the bore then the force ripped the rod apart then it kept banging in there and destroyed the cam and piston and skirt etc
The rocker must have broke after the cam then, think so?
