    I don’t know if you’ve noticed but you look so much happier and slimmer since I started watching you (a few months now). This lifestyle really agrees with you.

    I’m excited to see how you live full time in your new mobile home 😄 I have the exact same suv and I do short trips in mine to paint and I haven’t figured out yet how I want to use the space. Thinking about removing the front passenger seat and having the bed platform. It’s going to be fun to see what you do!

    Hi Elizabeth just a thought if you still have storage shed /rooms you could potentially take out you’re bac seat hassle i know but hear me out check out temu car camping and you can get really noice beds and things that prop up for day bed with space under neath and you could have a small latriene of some sort .and if one day you decide to sell you Subaru again just put seat back in that would poddibly solve your delema /issue with that comfort over hassle

    "Wacka doodle" lol I say this too. You're probably the only other person I have heard say it. Congrats on the new car! If you can order loose Chamomile from Frontier- Pioneer Co-op, this is a great way to get to sleep. Of course, it can be any loose chamomile. They have cups with strainers in them- which makes it easy to strain.

    If you tint, make sure it’s a ceramic tint that cuts out 85% of uv radiation. Regular tint doesn’t. $399 is the quote I got for my crossover for ceramic.

    • @elizabethoffgrid
      @elizabethoffgrid 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I agree ceramic is the best, also it does not hurt phone reception

    I've had a Subaru Forester (2015) since Oct. 2014 and have been so happy with it. No issues, though I've replaced all 4 tires a couple of times (I'm in the Colorado Rockies) and the battery once. Now I've got close to 99,000 miles and don't see why I should replace it!

    All-terrain tires: I have Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires, which are great, including “mud and snow” but all-terrain tires are not great on ice. I do a lot of winter driving through the mountains, so I would not use the M+S tires for heavy duty winter use.
    Instead, I have a second set of rims with Michelin X-Ice snow tires. The added bonus is less wear and tear since only using each set of tires for 5 or 7 months of the year.
    Yes, you might say why bother, but I’d rather have additional peace of mind where my compact SUV has less chance sliding off an icy highway and “my home” being heavily damaged.
    When not in use, they are stored with the tire shop, usually for around $ 75-100 a season. (My particular tire shop has 150 locations and they will ship your tires from storage to one of their affiliate locations if needed).
    That way, I simply return to the tire shop and they are ready to be installed and swapped for the other tires which go into storage.

    I, too, just bought a Forrester, 2016, with low m8lage. I already have a top rack set up, with weather resistant bag, net. I have a kelly kettle, and a biolight for cooking, though also have a waterheater for cups. I bought a tent that hooks to the back of the car, and have a few tarps, that i can attach randemly to the rack, to extend the surrounding area. Im considering attaching a hitch rack to the back, for storage. Im excited to give it all a go. I am curious, has anyone had/used a "Yakima watertank" that could be attached to the roofrack?

    Hello. I have a Subaru Forester also and found you on TH-cam and love your videos. I am thinking of doing some traveling in my Subaru and found some of your videos helpful. Can I ask what window coverings you purchased? This is one of my issues that I can't figure out. Any helpful hints would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

    Re: pee in car. A idea for you. Build a “pee box” that sits on the seat and you sit/ squat on top of it.
    Parts: a 1 quart oval ( not round)pitcher from dollar tree
    A small Amazon box about size of shoe box. Put pitcher in box upright. Stuff something around it to keep it centered like rolled up paper bag -anything to stop the pitcher from easily tipping over. Sit on top of it, do your business, pop the pitcher top back on. Next time you go to a public bathroom take your pitcher in (a Trader Joe’s bag or similar) and dump it in the toilet.
    Put a towel on the seat just in case !!!
    Happy travels.

    How is your bed set up in your Subaru? I’m trying to figure out how to set mine up so I can still have some space for other stuff.

    • @elizabethoffgrid
      @elizabethoffgrid 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So I just folded down the seat, pushed the passenger seat all the way up, and put down the foam. But I had to put something where the backseat feet space is so the head of the bed didn't sink down (just a couple plastic boxes that I have filled with my food items). It doesn''t need to support weight because it's just my pillows/head.

    OK, I found your video of your initial bed set up with that foam from Home Depot did it just happen to be the right measurement for your car and do you still have it?

    • @elizabethoffgrid
      @elizabethoffgrid 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it was just the right measurement! For the subaru forester (at least for my year / model) it fit in the back with just the seat down. I am still using it but I did put a backpacking closed-foam pad underneath it, to kind of even out the grove between the back and the seatback.
