    Why don't you build yourself a vegetable filter and plant watercress in it. I did it on my last pond and with the water at 27deg in the summer my water was very clear.

      I do, I plant at least one grow bed with watercress

    Hey,sorry a bit late. But how do you deal with iron deficiency? I have to turn off my uv for 1 week , else it will destroy the iron and plants won't grow. Issue is once i turn the uv.. Algae gets really tough to go when i switch it back on

    • @chu0435
      @chu0435  ปีที่แล้ว

      I added 1 spoonful of chelated iron once every two weeks

    • @chu0435

      Yes with the uv on, uv light should not affect your iron

      @@chu0435 hey, sorry for lateness. Going to buy an iron chelate. Do you use dtpa or eddha?
      I've read some literature that uv breaks the chelate in the iron very quickly and it results to the iron not being available for the plants. I use a vertical tower system, and most plants are in water. When i supplement with iron edha, the iron runs out very quickly, especially with uv on.
      I think I'll give dtpa a shot and run with uv on. If there is some effect, maybe i will just turn the uv off for 2 days so that the plants have time to take the iron in

      I use EDTA chelated iron, let me know how your experiment goes, DTPA will stain your water through

      I will try to answer all your questions. The pond is about 5 feet deep, I have 3 (4000 gal/hour) pump that consume 140 watts each and 4 (13 watts) UV lights, it is running all day.

    Hi thanks for the video, which just shows what great results you can obtain by being creative as well as being inexpensive. With your UV set up, are there any particular precautions you had to take to ensure the arrangement was safe? I have switched UV filters and have some spare bulbs I could use in a similar way in my filtration system. Thanks in advance.

    • @chu0435
      @chu0435  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the compliment, the uv I used is a cheap $15 (13 watts) it have a safety power switch too so I anything happens it will fried the power switch and turn off

    Can this achieve crystal clear without the sieve you added?

    • @chu0435
      @chu0435  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it can because due to the aquaponics system, with the sieve filter it was faster to achieved it.

      @@chu0435 but why add UV?

    • @chu0435
      @chu0435  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      UV light kill the single cell algae which make then clumps together then it will get filter out by the sieve filter and the aquaponics

    Love your falls. Nice collection.
    My ponds using are green in the spring but quickly clear once my filters and plants start to grow.
    I like looking at ponds at other places. I have 4 koi ponds in my backyard if you want to look. If not that's ok too.
    Take care.

    Your system looks overly complicated.

    • @seanmorgan6198
      @seanmorgan6198 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in my experience this system is proportionate to the volume of water and the quantity of fish - assuming they're fed regularly. it may look complicated as it is brilliantly assembled from free materials. the same outcome would cost many, many thousands of dollars to achieve.

      I feed them with 16 oz cup, each feeding is 2 cups and three feeding a day. I don't do any water change the only water added to the pond is due to evaporation and I do clean out my filter once a week and that's is about 150 gal
