    Oh, my! It's absolutely stunning!! I was wondering about the positive ease, but I can see, that it is not too bad (not too much of it). I've fallen in love into Dagmar pattern, the colour choice of your Dagmar Jacket is exactly perfect for all the cables to come out and be visible :-) A wonderful piece of winter knitwear👌

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you!! Mine seems to have a lot less positive ease than others I have seen. But I did hit gauge and sized up, so I'm not sure why😅 The Dagmar is definitely a pattern it's easy to fall in love with🥰 I'm really happy with my color choice! Light enough for the structures to show, dark enough to suit winter❄️

    Hello from Ireland, I love your cable sweater, also I love your podcast because you use Drops yarn which is affordable and easy to source, I am fascinated to see you make cables without using a cable needle, I have knit a traditional Aran jumper and I would have to use a cable needle.☘️

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Thank you so much❤️ I love how affordable and accessible drops yarn is! This is my first time cabling on a bigger project without a cable needle! I made moby sweater about a year ago, and had to use an extra needle to do cables, but that takes much more time, and i very easily loose or forget about that extra needle so I figured I had to learn to do without. And I have to say, it's made cables MUCH more enjoyable🥰

    It's so beautifull. I'm just swatching some Drops Nepal for a sweater for my husband, but it will be a basic sweater. For the sleeves, as I tend to kit tighter on small circonference, I usually use bigger needles, or for dropped sleeves, I pick up the number of stitches for one size up and kint my sleeves one size bigger. The fit of your jacket is just perfect. It's more elegant as it isn't too lose, but with a reasonable positive ease. Congratulations for your Dagmar.

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Drops Nepal is such a great yarn! I need to get better at frogging and redoing things, frogging is learning! Hopefully, I'll figure out my gauge and how to accommodate both that and my arm size soon😅
      I am really happy with how this turned out, tho! While it wasn't the intended fit, I think I prefer it🤩

    This is a masterpiece Oline! I am so impressed by your skills with cables and such an amazing pattern. If it didn’t come out exactly as you envisioned, please know that it is still stunning with such a relaxed, comfortable look and gorgeous drape, which can be hard to get with cables! Plus the color is beautiful on you and you made a perfect choice of buttons
    (I love the look of having one less button on the bottom). Thank you so much for sharing the process with us, along with the heart-warming glimpses of your everyday life. Happy Winter!

    • @norwegianknitter

      Thank you🥹❤️ While it didn't turn out to be a huge oversized jacket lile I imagined, I still really like it! They ways I will use it probably will look a bit different, and I still really want that huge chunky oversized Cardigan. But as I keep using my Dagmar, I must say that the sleeves not being too oversized makes it a much more practical jacket for everyday life and chores🥰
      The color and buttons are so great! I knew I liked them before beginning the project, but when it all came together after blocking, it was even better than I had imagined❤️
      Happy winter❄️

    It's so pretty!!!! I remember reading that she put less ease into patterns as she went up in sizes. But I don't know if that's true for all her patterns. It looks great on you. Thank you for filming so we can all see. All the best to you guys, and stay warm, Kimberly

      Thank you!! I've heard that too, but I thought it was for the even bigger sizes? And since I'm in between S/M, L should be bigger on me even if it's with a bit less positive ease? I'm not 100% sure how that works. I don't really love the jacket, though, even if it didn't turn out to be that big and oversized😅❤️
      All the best to you too🥰

    First time seeing your podcast. I love how you use affordable yarn and explain things very clearly. What sweaters are you wearing and the yarn? I find plenty of patterns but have a hard time with getting the right yarn. The yarn used in the patterns are usually expensive. I love your Dagmar Jacket! @norwegianknitter  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you so much! I can't remember every sweater I wore, but I would say most of them are Petiteknit Patterns! And I use drops yarn 9/10 times, as long as they have the same amount of meters per grams, it's usually fine to swap from the original yarn. That's how I choose yarn alternatives🥰

    I love your dagmar. I have been waiting for my yarn for about month now and im wanting to cast on since i bought the pattern. Im second quessing the size I plann the knit though. Based on my measurements I should knit a size 5. There is so much ease on the designers sample but she is very small person which explains how much ease the sample has. I have to wait and see.

    For any sweater I knit I have to size up the arms with two sizes compared to the body size, if you feel up to it you can see if you can do this for when you want to knit another petite knit pattern. It looks very pretty though, more fitted arms also work for an oversized sweater

    • @norwegianknitter

  • @HikeSwimKnit
    @HikeSwimKnit หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi Oline! This is a beautiful jacket you made! I'm already thinking of knitting several pieces (for myself, my friend, my mom... :D) Regarding the sizing, I believe the issue might be that the designer is not wearing her size. She is very petite, I guess size XS? But the sweater on her has definitely more than 25 cm of positive ease, which means she's wearing one size larger, eg. size S. I have noticed that other designers do that as well - they take a skinny model and put one size larger garment on her which leads knitters to believe that this is how they would look if they knitted their own size. Unfortunately it is really misleading... Also, regarding the gauge - when there is so much going on in one piece, it might be difficult to swatch for one of the cables and hope that your gauge matches all other stitches, like moss stitch or honeycomb stitch. But your's looks amazing, I think it was a good idea to knit a larger size :)

    • @norwegianknitter

      Hi! Thank you so much! I am really in love with the final jacket, even if it isn't what I imagined it would be. Oh, well. You live, and you learn😅
      I've been thinking she might be modeling sweaters that are at least a size bigger than her size for pictures for a while🙈 It's super misleading, I wish no one did it🥲
      I did swatch all the different cables, but my gauge is never the same when switching and actually making a garnment, so I give up haha

    First of all, your Dagmar jacket is beautiful 🩷 Today I heard in a video from Andrea Mowry that with a smaller diameter, such as the sleeve, most people knit tighter than the rest. Maybe that's the case with you too? Maybe you can compare it to your jacket. And if that is the case, next time go up a half or full needle size for the sleeves.

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much! I did keep thinking if my sleeves were tighter in gauge as I knit them, but now that it's blocked, they are the same gauge, if not looser😅 I know I do have quite big arms though, so it might just be that!

  • @maanknitwear
    @maanknitwear หลายเดือนก่อน

    Regarding your sleeves not turning out oversized: you could try going up a needle size for just the sleeves. I've heard a lot of people have a tighter gauge on a smaller circumference. Also: yay team no swatching!!! hahahhaa

      I have thought about going up a needle size, or for projects like this, where you pick up stitches, I could pick up for an even bigger size🤔

    Wow, your Dagmar Jacket is stunning. I think once dry it should still have a nice drapey fit. It looked so bulky before washing but that is normal. @norwegianknitter  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you!! I love it so much❤️ It has finally dried, and it has a much better fit than before washing, but the qashing machine acting up seems to have agitated the fabric just enough for it to be somewhat stiff but still an amazing jacket! I LOVE the color, both for how the structure shows up and it the perfect color for winter❄️ I'm going to live in it this winter, oversized or not🥰
