SCHD is basically an index fund of strong companies that pay out dividends. It only has an expense ratio of 0.06% and has performed well since it came about 10 or so years ago. I highly recommend people consider adding it to their portfolio. With enough time, you can use those dividends later in life to largely live off of without touching the principle.

I’m sorry if this comes across as offensive, I really don’t mean for it to be but, if you dont know how to add stocks into your portfolio, you need to learn a lot more basics before you even pick anything to invest in.

Dividends from the stock market encouraged me to begin investing. What matters, in my opinion, is that if you invest and make additional passive income in addition to dividends, you will be able to live off of dividends without selling. It implies that you can provide that benefit for your children, giving them a head start in life. I've invested more than “$600K” in dividend stocks through my asset manager and will continue to do so until the price falls even further.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. Great video! However it is a little misleading if you maintain a larger dividend growth than stock price appreciation. It’s fine in the short term but in the long term it is not possible to maintain this type of skewed growth rate. Something to keep in mind for long term investors.

Imo investing the 50 grand in high growth tech stocks would be a much better move since you have 30 years. I actually sold all of my SCHD because the returns weren’t high enough for my high dividend portfolio.
Passive growth is good for people like myself who are retiring and want monthly and quarterly income for bills. Diversification is key….high interest money markets, crypto, high growth tech stocks and high interest passive equities is how I’ve been investing and have done very well with this strategy.
But it’s key to have a large nest egg. I can see how the wealthy keep growing their portfolio even in bad times. I do the opposite of what most financial advisers tell me to do, lol

If Schwab goes BK...SCHD-These funds are set up as trusts or in a similar manner. If the investment adviser goes bankrupt, they have no access to the assets in the fund, which are held by an unaffiliated custodian. If the sponsor liquidates the fund, you'd get cash for your shares. But this only happens with small, unsuccessful funds, which doesn't describe SCHD........Short version they sell everything and you get cashed out.
      Long version from investopedia
Shareholders typically receive notification of the liquidation between a week and a month before it occurs, depending on the circumstances. The board of directors, or trustees of the ETF, will approve that each share is individually redeemable upon liquidation since they are not redeemable while the ETF is still operating; they are redeemable in creation units.
Investors who want "out" of the fund upon notice of the liquidation sell their shares; the market maker will buy the shares and the shares will be redeemed. The remaining shareholders would receive their money, most likely in the form of a check, for whatever amount was held in the ETF. The amount of the liquidation distribution is based on the net asset value (NAV) of the ETF.
The liquidation, however, can create a tax event, if the funds are held in a taxable account. This may force an investor to pay capital gains taxes on any profits received that would have otherwise been avoided.
