I am a special ed major at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and I totally would love to see that so I can learn more about it before I start teaching for myself! I also, would really really like it if you gave us pointers on outfits for school! I sometimes have a hard time choosing outfits that are good for elementary school. I currently work in a fourth grade classroom as a reading and math tutor so I need appropriate and stylish outfits!!! Thanks!

@@myrandarosenbaum9332 lol, not teaching anymore XD That first year completely wrecked my mental health. I had to take FMLA for depression for the rest of the semester and then I signed my resignation papers. I had a lot of trauma that I needed to heal from at that time, and teaching kind of forced me to face it all at once. I'm doing much better now, working in the software industry, and considering returning to teaching in the future! Please take care of yourself

I’d love to see a planning video! Also, I’m a 20 year veteran and I still have those frustrating days. I lost my mind just last Friday when I caught a group of students behind my desk looking at my computer screen-which had private emails showing. I was livid! I can’t even remember what I said but when I cooled down we had a class discussion why they should never go behind my desk without permission. Now I will make sure to have that discussion at the beginning of the school year! Live and learn! You are an awesome teacher! ❤️

So, instead of emailing the parents you could do a weekly report. A weekly report is something that they take home every Monday and it tells the parents if they have all work completed in each subject. And it also had a little note from the teacher saying if you were good last week.

Helpful tip if it hasn't been said already. If you ever show something from your iPhone or iPad you can screen record it to show it clearer on video.

I love that you send emails to parents with positive things they did. My daughter isn't in school yet but as a mom that would make me feel so good that they are being good at school and would make me feel good that the teacher cares enough to take the time to tell me somthing good she did instead of just paying attention to the negative things like a lot of teachers do

Question: Do you have to turn your plans in? I teach for a charter school. I have taught for 15 years. We were just given a new template. It is an entire page for each lesson. We have to write a KNOW/ SHOW for everyday. ( what the kids need to know/ What the kids need to show.) Written out standards, Written out materials. Written out I DO/ YOU DO/ and WE Do. Then we have write a summary paragraph and what we are using for an exit ticket explained in detail. I know I just have to suck it up and do it but man the time it is taking from my week. I feel that I have proved myself and should not have to write such detailed plans. EVERYONE has to do it so it not just me.
the specificity of the plan seems like it would be a charter school requirement imo.
The education students at my college have to do such plans so they get into the habit of paying attention to detail
At my public school, we put our plans on a program called Eduphoria. Our admins can check them online. We include warm ups, objectives, higher order thinking questions, independent work, assessment. I think there’s more, but I can’t remember right now.
I see the benefit of writing detailed plans in teacher's college. It is important to get into the habit of thinking about these things. But after awhile you start to do it in your head and honestly, it becomes more for admin than yourself & students. And while templates can be helpful, I don't understand having to use a specific template. We all teach differently; we should be able to use what works best for us and our students. I only have to turn in detailed plans when I am being evaluated. I can't imaging having type up 7 pages of plans a day...
Michelle!!! If you have your students multiply the two numbers for that “prime or composite number” game, the product will always be a composite because you multiplied two numbers together.. hope this makes sense. My idea to differentiate for high level students: have students have 3 or 4 dice to add together? That way the sum will possibly be a larger number, but it could be either prime or composite.
This actually isn't true. They can still roll a prime number. For example, if students roll a 1 and a 5... they would multiply 1x5 to get 5 which is a prime number.

I loved this. I'm a high school teacher and never do enough lesson planning because while we're still working on behaviours, we can't really learn much content. And I need time to relax and sleep too: the other day I found my first stress-induced grey hair, and I'm not even 30 yet.
I've seen some digital planners, but I prefer the hardcopy planner. Especially since we need to keep and file our teacher diaries each year. The act of physically writing out what I'm doing with each class each day makes it easier to remember once I get into the class, and it's fairly easy to cross it out and write what we ended up doing if the original plan didn't work. If I had a tablet computer or had an online planner that was maybe kept in the cloud (so I could access it from school AND home), I would maybe consider using it.
The furthest I've gotten is to make a term long planner for a particular class, especially when there's lots of school events and other things where we lose some class time to cover a topic. Days of the week across the top, week numbers down the side. I can grey out the boxes where we don't have lessons, as well as school events. Highlight lessons that will be used for a class exam or similar. Then map out what needs to be taught in which lessons to get through the topic. Sadly, I've rarely made it through completing and using the term outline.
I LOVE my physical planner but contemplated a digital planner. So yes, show us what you do and how it works for you. I may move to digital next year!!! Thank you for sharing!!

I’m not even a teacher, I’m in 7th grade but I find this very amusing and fun, this really wants me to become a teacher even though you show your struggle you still love your job and understand that you have room for improvement, I really find teaching fun, even though it can be stressful it still seems fun.
As a Teacher, I say, teaching job is the best job. To introduce the academic new things to the pupil, the teacher feels great about that. As I was in America, I say here the Educational system was the best.

This year in college we had to make SMART goals for our field placements if we have them 🤞. My goal is to identify at least 3 students each week that this something positive that I could potentially contact a parent about. Obviously as a preservice teacher I am not allowed to contact parents but identifying the positive reasons for contact is still great!
