      It mostly behaves like a 2000XL with a few extra options, it has a lot of the same or similar parts, the sequencer is the same
      From 3000 to 2000xl there's a difference
      Sequencer wise
      60/3000 are similar
      2000XL/4000 are similar
      2000 has annoying limitations don't listen to people saying it sounds better it's 1 eq notch difference, it means nothing, they are just trying to sell you a turd, 2000XL or nothing

    Enjoyed this! Actually making me rethink swapping my xl for something newer. What do you use for your midi out connections? I though the two out ports meant I could only trigger two synths 🤦‍♂️

    • @tonelab
      @tonelab  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't use anything other than the MIDI outputs that the XL has, I only ever need 2-3 synths.. and you can daisy-chain them off the MIDI Thru ports 👍🏼

    • @jackwavell
      @jackwavell 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tonelab thanks that’s useful to know. I don’t suppose you’ve used the newer one likes the Live 2 or the X? Tempted to still switch to allow for more controls. The XL would be perfect for me if you could also high pass filter and record audio over sequences!

    • @tonelab
      @tonelab  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I've got an X. A lot of people 'pair' up a Roland SP404 with their 2000XL, for filters and added effects, after all, you can have 10 outputs, to make use of.. (out of the XL) you don't necessarily need it inside the same machine, in my opinion, but I guess depends what you're into 🙏🏻

    Sorry but I just had a question about the 2000xl. Is it my unit or does the directory act funky sometimes on your unit. Whenever I go into a folder/kit I have a sub folder ex kicks when I try to back out of that folder to let's say pick the snare folder it doesn't let me. even if I try to go back to the root to select a whole different kit its stuck. Am I doing something wrong? or is this a bug that maybe my unit has. Can you please do a video on the load directory ? please man cause I am loosing it

    Hello I found a 2000 for 350 and a 2000xl for 400 which one would you prefer? And why?
    What do you think about the newer MPC’s ?

    • @tonelab
      @tonelab  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the XL, the 2000 is good.. the flip-top screen on the XL is worth the $50 difference alone... it'll save your neck. New-MPCs?! ..I like the browsing, storage features on the new-gens.. but, I can't say I'm a fan of their choice of DAC, which is why I mostly use it in 'Controller Mode', I can bypass the onboard DAC in Controller Mode. I know 'Black Lion' did a mod to improve the DAC, but I was expecting a better quality converter in the 'flagship' MPC X. 👍🏼www.blacklionaudio.com/store/modifications/akai-mpc-x-mod/

    How do you delete the notes from the pads? I'm re-watching it again, maybe I missed it...

    • @tonelab
      @tonelab  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You mean like "Delete a Sound from a Pad?", if 'Yes'.. then that's actually covered in the video on 'Programs', which is also worth a watch 👍🏼 th-cam.com/video/nTZhVt7q0Yo/w-d-xo.html

      @@tonelab One more question. If I upload on my card already chopped samples, for like 4 bars. And I don't want to chop them even further in "zones", how can I use the "pitching option?🤔 Or is not possible?

    • @tonelab
      @tonelab  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So, if I understand correctly.. you have 4 separate Samples?! ..each Sample located on a different Pad?! .. if 'yes', then you can Tune each Sample, via the Program page.. like in this clip (time indexed) 👍🏼 th-cam.com/video/nTZhVt7q0Yo/w-d-xo.html

    • @tonelab
      @tonelab  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm.. not sure it's a bug, per se... I think it's more a 'lost in translation' scenario when floppy drives are replaced with the Card Reader.. I'm presuming you're using an XL that had the floppy replaced with a 'Card Reader'!? 🤔 ..the work around I found to get me outta that is press the 'LOAD' or 'SAVE' button.. that'll return you to the Root of the Card 👍🏻
